There might be something deeper to it though--maybe it doesn't cancel out permanent transformations (i.e. Luffy being turned to rubber, Brooke being turned to a spirit inhabiting his old body, Chopper being turned into a reindeer-man), but does cancel out temporary / willful transformations, i.e. a Zoan assuming a non-default form or a Logia assuming elemental form.
...but if Chopper's default form is now Reindeer-Man and that's why he didn't transform into a regular reindeer, wouldn't that mean that being dunked in the sea or exposure to sea prism stone should turn all Zoans into their hybrid forms instead of their original forms?
Urghh. Let's just say it does whatever Oda needs it to at the time and be done with it, huh?
