>The result is a film that is enjoyable in spots, but haphazard and ultimately unsatisfying. As with "Iron Man 3," these films are increasingly feeling like episodes of TV shows or, perhaps more appropriately, issues of comic books. For all the good gags and eye candy, this ultimately boils down to yet another quest to find a magical MacGuffin that will stop a portal in the sky from opening (seriously, has that become one of the Seven Basic Plots at this point?). And while the hardcore geek crowd may eat that up, the rest of us need these films to distinguish themselves a little more if we're going to have one every six months.

The secret agent stuff is eh.
Also I hope that Scorch somehow survived.

Who's Better: Thor or Loki?youtube thumb
>> No. 39188
Watched Thor 2 earlier today.

Ehhh mostly same as Iron Man 3 I guess. Some fun jokes and scenes beween Thor and Loki, occasional good scene, the final fight was okay. Too much of a sci fi feel, not muh Asgard (starship fights?! REALLY?!).

It was nice that they got Hogun right (in that he's from another of the nine worlds, Marvel forgot that on a relatively recent comic). Volstagg, on the other hand, was still too skinny. Not many displays of power, almost felt like that Hercules live action tv show in some parts I guess.

As for the two post-credits scenes, I think the second one would be more at home in the beginning of the credits, since it had more to do with the movie.

Forgot to comment: interesting to see Chris Yost's name on the credits as one of the writers, can only wonder what on it was his doing. He usually does well in comics. Also, Craig Kyle as producer.

Wait.

So.

Is Odin dead? Was that what I was supposed to take away from that ending scene? I mean, in terms of where that puts Loki for future films it's much better than him running off shouting "You win this time!" but it feels like kind of a cop-out to kill of the king of Asgard off-screen. And what was up with that Collector scene? Will that guy be important? That scene felt so tacked-on, like they didn't realize until they were already done with the film that they needed to introduce that particular plot thread. They didn't even bother adding 3D to it!

Other than those grips, it was a very solid, entertaining film. Easily better than the first Thor movie.

>>39207

Having only read about the scene on Wikipedia, yes, it’s important. We now know of two Infinity Stones: the Tesseract and the Aether. That leaves four left to reveal over the course of Phases Two and Three, and I expect another one to show up — even if just in passing — during Guardians of the Galaxy, given its connection to the Cosmic portion of the Marvel Universe. We also know that Thanos exists in the MCU (courtesy of the mid-credits scene in The Avengers), and the same goes for the Infinity Gauntlet (courtesy of a brief glimpse inside the Asgardian vault in Thor).

Put all that together with The Collector’s line about ‘one down, five to go’ and the vague rumblings and rumors about MCU Phase Three, and you’ll see what makes the scene so important: it’s a setup for the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, which is rumored to be the main plot driver/storyline for MCU Phase Three.

Back from Thor 2.
It was the most fun I had in a cinema all year.
Yes even more then Pacific Rim.
Why?
A spaceship got stabbed to death!
A fight across dimensions!
Frostbeast chasing birds .
And no punking of bad ass robots before they could show off...

Also for Thor 3 I hope they get into the more wtf parts of norse mythology.
Even just a bit.
Loki's fate worst then death atlest.

Well I am of reading some Valhalla comics.
Want me to storytime one on /co/?

Finally watched Thor Part Deux. Pretty damn awesome, liked it even better than the original.

I know a lot of people found Malekith to be bland and boring... but you know, I actually quite liked that he was so cold and business-like about his scheme. He gloats very little, doesn't yell or waste time with speeches, but simply goes direcly to the point.

I mean, the moment he step outside the assult ship on Asgard, the very first hing he does is to take one of those black hole grenades, and throws it at Odin's throne without missing a beat or uttering a word. A very simple moment that speaks wonders of the character and what he feels, you don't expect that kind of subtlety from superhero movies.

About the Odin/Loki thing at the end, I seriously doubt the old man is dead. It would go against what the movie was doing with Loki. Yes, he is a scheming tracherous fuck, but he is alsot not really that hateful towards his foster family as he likes to pretend to be. He probably has Oding locked in a secret place, and pays him daliy visits to taunt him about the reversal or roles.

Also, from what I understand, the scene at the beginning with Lokin being brought after Odin for judgment, happens right after the events in Avengers, and then there is a time skip more or less a year. That means the earht has seen two different and very public alien incursions in a very short time. Better get used to it, Marvel civilians!

Also, while I do agree that Ian was superfluous to the plot, Jane's date was perfectly fine. The guy barely appears, and it makes sense that after two years she is trying to do SOMETHING with her social life, if she was still sulking it would be creepy.

It just made no sense to me. The Asgardians all speak friggin' english. The aliens working for Thanos in the Avengers movie all spoke english. Why not the Dark Elves? It seems like such a nonsensical choice. Honestly though, subtitles wouldn't have mattered that much if the villains had any good lines outside of stock phrases and exposition.
>> No. 39296

It was obviously to accentuate that the Dark Elves were extra alien-like (even from the perspective of millenia old extradimensional space gods), coming from whatever darkness was before the universe.

I'll have to disagree on that last part.
