New thread because come on guys i mean really
Hussie, where are you even going with this? Thinking of bringing back Vriska to fix the shipping grid, or are you just going to troll us by making it disappear 4evur/give it to Jane after she dies (i mean roxy had the void ring didnt she, and jane has been noted to be peculiarly lifeless for a life player) ???
Are Nepeta and Feferi cat-prop and fish-prop now, since they lost the ability of on-screen dialogue?
... Why is the thread title a link to the Skullgirls DLC Kickstarter? How is that relevant to Homestuck?
I remember a time when there was nothing I wanted from Homestuck more than for Vriska to come back to life. And now that there's a chance, I just don't feel it anymore.::::(
You don't care because death has no meaning in homestuck. You already have Vriska in the dream world, and now the prospect of a ring that returns life just doubly negates it.
It doesn't matter to anyone whether or not she can come back to life because she's not coded as dead in the first place. There are very little ramifications to being "dead" here because she can still interact with everyone and have adventures and shit, and she still makes appearances in the story where she talks and does stuff. The only consequence is that now she has white eyes. The countless safety nets that prevent characters from actually dying that exist in Homestuck also cheapen the grief of living characters. Like Terezi's lament about killing Vriska is tarnished because actually she can just fucking walk up to Vriska and talk it out and tell her she's sorry. There's nothing preventing her from doing that.
It's not entirely nothing in that they're stuck outside of the sessions/universes proper, not that that matters now that floating around in the furthest ring is now apparently where higher level stuff happens anyway. I figured they'd be kept back by the arbitrary limits of the bubbles in some other way, like a special dungeon somehow repelling bubbles or being spiky and popping any that get near, or the focus of the comic actually returning the things happening inside the sessions, but so far that hasn't happened. Honestly, though, it's not like they even need the ring to come back to life for real. Just captchalogue an image of them and spend the giant pile of grist needed to make a replacement body, then summon their ghost to inhabit it.>>71852And why does it tell me that I should care about Skullgirls for the purpose of supporting e-sports? If anything that deters me from helping it.
>>71855So it's like Dragonball Z without the halos.
>>71858It's like Dragonball meets Bleach. Death means fuckall, new characters are introduced whenever the author gets bored and crowd out the old ones, and there is a perpetual raising of the stakes & power levels that makes earlier plot events and accomplishments irrelevant and new ones unrelatable.Remember when winning Sburb and creating a new universe against all odds was at the forefront of the plot? What the fuck is at the forefront now? What is this even??
>>71854I think Jane has to wear the ring for them to be brought back to life.
>>71859Making a new universe never really interested me in the first place since it was just something the game was compelling them to do. If they could lose the game without getting destroyed by Paradox Space, the worst that would happen is a bunch of things we never heard of or had a reason to care about never existing, whereas failing to stop the destruction of their home planets, and even forgetting to save Derse, always seemed like more of a real loss. Lord English destroying everything such that even distant, unknown emptiness is torn asunder is at least more plausibly a goal worth sacrificing Earth to prevent.
>>71859I think aradia's line about wanting to watch the whole place fall apart is the hint to that. Defeating English must mean also destroying the Medium, SBURB and all its incarnations, and maybe the whole cycle of isolated universe creation/destruction as well. It would all collapse on on itself Zebes-style.... we will assumingly be told in the future why this is a desired outcome.
>>71859That was always a thing. It's just that they were fucked with from the very beginning by an even bigger troll than even the readers are aware of at this time. Whenever LE was talked about, he posted a picture of that summoning server. Let's take into account what Scratch said. Hussie didn't know what the plot of homestuck was supposed to be. He thought about it much later. He's basically just coasting from the beginning rather than from the Saiyan arc of Dragonball like Toriyama did.
>>71862Wizardy Herbert is a pretty big nod to that. Much like how SBAHJ was Dave's subconscious providing eerie foresight, WH is Roxy's counterpart that outlines everyone's situation. One more thing to link the two TGs.We need Roxy's fanfics anyway since Dave is apparently too busy to update the damn comic >:[
>>71865Well he did pass the job off to Davesprite. With any luck that's what he set out to do when he left John. Or maybe he'll go off and save Roxy, thus allowing him to make a SB&HJ/WH crossover comic-with-extra-bookwords.
>>71866Considering that hussie made that SBaHJ anthology a while back, I think it's likely that there may not be any future SBaHJ comics.
>>71863I know he didn't have a clear idea of what the plot would be. That should be fairly obvious to anyone who has read Homestuck. The constant escalation and introduction of new characters even in the "endgame" chapters is something that is present in a lot of shonen manga. Unwillingness to permanently write out old characters to make room for new characters is also a thing that happens a lot, leading to a hugely bloated cast. Both of these things tend to affect the structure and quality of the story negatively and are often the result of the author not having a clear idea of where he wants the story to go. The lack of editing and direction have really been catching up with Homestuck lately. Yes, I know it is a problem intrinsic to the format, because it is impossible for him to go back to edit out or change significant portions of his story. That doesn't mean it's not a glaring, festering issue and a huge disadvantage to serial updating works in general, it just means it's a glaring, festering issue he can't fix at this point. Which really sucks.I wonder what earlier parts he would have cut out or changed, given the chance. I know he says he wouldn't because it is exactly the way he wanted it, but I also think that's a big fat lie.
>>71862Her whole line about readying the manor for a lord's arrival, AFTER the point of bringing up defeating LE gives me eerie thoughts that Hussie may have the audacity to have something worse lurking out there behind the scenes. More so than LE; like something behind even him. Hmmm...
Vriska doesn't know shit about leadership.
so are these characters just ollieing out because the hussmaster doesn't know what to do with them again? And Vriska is a terrible pirate. Like, truely awful.
>>71870I always saw Vriska as more of a "Lancer" type of character. Like Starscream, Falco, or Kai Shiden. They want to be the leader but tend to fuck up badly when given the opportunity. Personally, that's why I always wanted to see more Karkat and Vriska interaction.
>>71875A thought that just occurred, would that would make Terezi to be The Chick that the Lancer and Hero fight over? I suppose Dave fills in the Lancer for Karkat's Hero pretty well too for that matter.
>>71869isn't english the lord though?and really, what other candidates are there? alternate callie (in a cruel to be kind way?), the horrorterrors (who don't really give a shit as long as caliborn gtfo's) and... well, possibly whatever being which rules over the cherubs and/or created "existence"/sburb/the universes (basically anything that isn't the void) in the first place
Try to click the replay button on the LADIES panel.Go ahead.Try.
>>71871On the one hand, it does make sense that they'd be sick of Vriska's shit and ditch her. On the other hand, I can't shake the feeling that those guys are about to get mouthlasered, which would be a super transparent way to get them out of the story, but that's Homestuck.I am clinging to the hope that Sollux is literally incapable of being killed permanently. He'll become a half-ghost that keeps splintering into more ghost/living pairs and Hussie can kill him over and over all he wants.
>>71871>so are these characters just ollieing out because the hussmaster doesn't know what to do with them again?Maybe. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they all DO get ghost-killed by Lord English like Vriska said they would. I'm fine with Tavros leaving the group, hell I'm kinda proud of the little fucker for finally ditching Vriska, since that actually makes sense for his character arc. The way Sollux said he was leaving was funny so I'm fine with him going too. I just don't like Nepeta or Feferi leaving after they just got here and haven't had any speaking lines since they did. It feels like Hussie is making a joke out of how pointless and inconsequential these two characters are, which kinda sucks if you actually like them. >>71878Thankyou for pointing this out to me.
>>71879He's had a million opportunities to get rid of superfluous characters he didn't like (i.e. everyone escaping right now) and yet he keeps bringing them back. If they get lasered here that probably won't be the end of them because he can't make a character death stick for the life of him.
All the non-godtier players just left. All the godtier players are staying.Coincidence?
>>71883Actually this brings up something I hadn't thought of.If a god tier ghost gets ghost-killed in a way that isn't just or heroic, do they come back to ghost-life?
>>71884Maybe we're about to find out!
>>71883Everyone's about to die, and Hussie (for some reason) didn't want to kill the non-god-tiers off.I assume something else will kill Nepeta during their egress.
>>71877Hal
>>71877Don't you remember Gamzee is the most important character in Homestuck? He's also already known to have been responsible for setting up Caliborn to enter his session. Though if true that could easily mean that as part of his plan he'd be setting himself up to be hypnotized into serving Lord English, only for that to be what motivates him to create said plan.
>>71888Gamzee engineered his own creation. He's a living Juju.
>>71882tell that to AR, WQ and WK ;_;
>>71884I'd assume not, since god tiers are a condition of Skaia's game, and dream bubbles and the outer ring in general fall neatly outside that jurisdiction. The reason we can see game elements like captchalogues in dream bubbles at all is because those preexisted as separate yet SBURB-compliant things.
>>71890I don't think they count because to be perfectly honest I don't think he ever thought of them as true characters.
>>71895Like hell AR doesn't count. If he's not a proper character then neither is PM.
>>71896Look, I know it hurts. I love the carapaces. They have been the only characters I have consistently adored. But he liked them even less than he likes Sollux.
Roxy and AR are probably the only truly selfless characters in all of Homestuck. Both have sacrificed their own safety for the safety of complete strangers. As great as PM and WV are, even they can't claim that. If AR isn't important, then well shit
i really don't like where this is going
ship officially fucking sunksuck it lameos
damn how horrible does Vriska have to get before I can't pity her anymore
Rev up those Vriska morality debates!
>>71902I won't call this ship dead until the very end, even if Vriska gets "double dead" here.John was pretty much right with how Vriska had been acting, particularly since she died, though. And I think Vriska knows it, which is why it hurt her more.
Aradia's creepy background grin is delightful.
Oh my god, I'm Vriska. I'm a horrible and conflicted person. But I guess mostly horrible ::::I
>>71905she's not hurt, she's pissedher personal wimp flew away into the void, as did half of her crewher 'friends' called her out on being horrible and stupidshe was bad enough to make the only other guy stupid enough to pay her any attention go runningAND she lost her one shot at being restored to life. TWICE.basically all she's got now is whatever is in that cave. she's trying to get into john's good graces again so he'll give her the ring (of course we all know that whatever happens john won't be giving her the ring any time soon, possibly because she's gonna die any minute now)
>>71909That is... certainly a way to interpret events, I will admit.
>>71909>she's not hurt, she's pissed Can't she be both?
Why are Aranea and Meenah sticking around? Please don't tell me they're gonna bite it. :*(
>>71871There's a reason for that.
All that sounded real weird coming from Vriska. Not the meanings but how she said them.
I guess you could consider this the epitome of a Thief of Light, or something. She's 'stealing' the Light/Fortune (in the fate kind of sense) from a bunch of void ghosts to get her hands on a weapon that will defeat the only thing that is a threat to her. Basically, stealing someone else's fortune/continued existence to increase/extend her own.
I'm 8ad, and that's good.I'm not good, and that's not 8ad.There's no one I'd rather 8e than myself.
>>71921I just wanted some cake ::::(
Eh.I still don't like her.
>>71919Maybe because she's never had to go on the moral defensive like this before.
inb4 the treasure is the jack who killed callie's dreamself
So Hussie is basically saying Bat Vriska is the hero Paradox Space deserves.Sorry bro, not buying it.
>>71926Actually, Vriska is saying that.
>>71927Vriska is a fictional character. She cannot write Homestuck because of this.
>>71928Hussie is saying that Vriska is saying that her actions are justified. If you can't separate what a character thinks from what the author thinks, I'm afraid you're sorely missing the point of reading fiction.
I think I'd care about this whole issue more if the people Vriska was getting killed weren't the most expandable. one-dimensional bunch ever.
>>71930Yeah, that's fair for not caring about it from a perspective of how it affects the story. But in terms of what it says about who Vriska is, it's a bigger deal than it is in terms of how big a deal their deaths are to the plot. They're redshirts, they were basically MADE to die. We lose little to nothing from their deaths. But that doesn't mean that the monster that killed them / let them be killed was justified in doing so. In-universe, she's still wantonly leading people who are following her to oblivion, and she doesn't feel bad about it.
They're all just offshoot versions from doomed timelines who were fated to die from the beginning anyway.
Now to see if Rose has become the lushy bimbo everyone suspects she has.
>>71932So we can trust you to pull the plug anyway when someone miraculously survives a terminal illness. Good to know.
I swear, if Rose and Kanaya's hate-relationship leads to Kanaya knocking down the Can Town I am officially done with homestuck. All those cans better stay EXACTLY where they are.
Since when was it a hate relationship?
>>71932That's true, but Vriska with Aranea's help is mind-controlling them into doing this, or they're just joining the herd because it's instinct for trolls to convene, so they're not only being condemned to nonexistence, which is unsettling in and of itself, but it's without them having any say in it. That's the most off-putting thing about Vriska's methods for me.>>71936Since Karkat said something about how if he'd auspisticized between Rose and Kanaya, Kanaya would have been able to auspisticize between Terezi and Gamzee, apparently. I think it's more likely they're just dysfunctional or argumentative and Karkat interpreted it as blackrom. Maybe. I'm neutral towards Rosemary so bluhhhhhh i don't caaaaaaaaaaare
Rose has mapped can town in her "responsible historical documentation." I don't need to see any text to know she's sloshed.
>>71938i think she's pretty much perpetually drunk these days, sadlyi guess it's kinda like the whole ordeal with the life and void ringsone lalonde has to be drunk at any given time, while the other one must be sober
I'm kinda disappointed in Rose. If there's someone who should know better than hiding from her purpose and losing herself in the void, it would be the once-corrupted fucking Seer of Light. I hope this habit of hers hasn't got all that much to do with her relationship with Kanaya or I'm going to be kinda sad as well. I wonder what Roxy would say about this shit though.
>>71942With all the crap she's going though with Condy she's probably going to join her.
I'm not so much sad about Rose as I am kinda miffed at Hussie. I'm a struggling alcoholic and this is pushing my buttons.but that said, I guess I don't see the point of Rose drinking so much right before they arrive at the session. I mean, sure, I have a hard time controlling myself, but if I know a bunch of friends will be depending on me at a certain time, I can at least rein it in so I can keep my commitment.
If YOU"Re disappointed just imagine Roxy who got her act together because she's was afraid of disappointing her slime mother.
>>71944If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty sure he's presenting the way Rose is handling herself as troubling and irresponsible on her part, not something that's full of lulz and sunshine like he's making light of alcoholism. Certainly none of the readers seem to find it delightful, and Kanaya doesn't seem to be delighted by it either.
>>71938Just you wait. Can town and its impeccable layout will prove integral to the impending end battle.
I dunno about it being directly involved in a battle, but the map could end up in the hands of the carapace people Roxy saved, who might misinterpret it as plans for an actual town and build it.
can town = home stuckrose = andrew hussiekayana = his loving wife, ryan north
>>71944>bitching about a fictional story depicting a character with a problem just because you were an alcoholic pussy once too
Looks like Rose/Kanaya is next on the chopping blockHussie's on a roll
Weep not for your sunken ships, for we have the glory of John/Roxy to look forward to. (I habeeb it!)
>>71952my biggest shipping-related question is who dirk will hook up withi mean out of the guys who still are alive we've got only got john (not gay), dave + davesprite? (incest), karkat (who'll end up with terezi cmon), jake (who'll end up with jane cmon) and... gamzee (ew)i mean there's no way to fix the whole grid unless dirk does an "only for you" with roxy and john ends up with vriska (or aradia, at least she's still alive).. i wouldnt be surprise if hussmeister does go down that path, but i'm afraid the outrage from the tumblrites over "ruining" a gay character would be overwhelming (bcuz cmon sexuality aint fluid)
>>71953Maybe not everyone will hook up with someone at the end
>>71953Dirk will build a robot body for Equius, and they will get STRONGmarried.
>>71955Equius creeps him out though. Or at least the Equius + AR sprite did, which might have put a damper on POSSIBLE ROMANCEJohn/Roxy is a pretty good ship but I don't know if John is really her type, I mean she was the only one of the four alpha kids who wasn't in love with Jake (I am counting Jake himself as someone who was in love with Jake because I'm pretty sure he is) and John is a lot like him in some ways.
>>71954hupla pls
>Vriska scolds John for almost leaving right before seeing the treasure>We cut to a different scene right before seeing the treasure
>>71953What makes you so certain Jake and Jane are gonna hook up at this point? Jake is currently kicking his own ass over having ruined all of his friendships because of relationshit and Jane said pretty much flat out to Dirk that she was more in love with a fictional action hero Jake that only existed in her head and the real deal wasn't all that greatThe way the Alpha kids are right now I can't see them doing more than patching up what's left of their group and just being a bunch of friends
>>71955How would they get Equius' ghost into it? Only Aradia was able to exist as a ghost outside of the dream bubbles because they hadn't entered the game yet.>>71956Roxy was head over heels in love with Jake, but promised to not go for it out of Jane's sake because she is an awesome bro.
>>71960No, she was into Dirk. I think she said Jake was hot in a flippant, jokey sort of way to tease Jane, but she did not have a crush on him.
>>71953Sollux is alive too.
>>71962Sollux has a harem of flying, high ranking ghost ladies at this point. And possibly Aradia.
Alright so Rose is in a bad bad way.
>>71935Well I said I would and I'm not gonna back out of it. Goodbye homestuck, at least I dropped you for a just and noble reason.
goodbye rose/kanaya you will not be missed
>>71956>>71960Hmmm, I meant it as a joke, but those are some interesting things to wonder about. I don't think we really know what happens to characters who die outside of the game, but from Vriska's explanation of why getting the doomed timeline ghosts doubled killed is acceptable to her, it seems that non-players just don't end up in the outer ring at all. Aradia's case is a bit odd, as she had ghost-related troll powers in addition to being destined to take part in Sgrub. It might be that being a sprite could allow Arquius to just go and posses a robot body by flying into it, but in that case they might not be separable by something as easy as taking the robo-glasses off the robo-troll.
What I learned from this update: Kanaya onliy liked Rose for her mind.God what a shallow bitch.
Kanaya using surprise noodles in regular conversation instead of just by themselves as a joke is completely blowing my mind.
> ROSE: THE BUBBLES VON SALAMANCER MEMOIRIAL LIBRARAY!!!Dear god. Sweet, precious Casey is dead.
Casey is fine. Remember she's on the Prospit ship with John & Jade.
Oh well then.Guess there was nothing to worry about.
People going up in arms when a relationship gets a bit rocky is hilarious and a good litmus test for who does or doesn't get relationships.
>>71969i hope ur jokin
>>71976On the other hand, Hussie has been artillery bombing popular ships left and right lately over much pettier reasons
>>71979such aaas?
I was thinking it might turn out Rose was thinking of it as a regular human romance that, unbeknownst to her, would be dysfunctional if it was one, while Kanaya presumed it had switched over to a black one simply based on observation and her familiarity them. Don't know or care if that's the case, just something potentially funny for the characters involved to be confused about later. What's really important is that Kanaya needs to stop wasting her time playing Kick the Can and make some nicer clothes for WV.>>71980John not being gay enough to join all the other pages in "a book".
>>71981WowI don't see anyone claiming that Hussie is "petty" for making Dirk gay and therefore not into Roxy
>>71982Don't think anyone did, but I just keep making these silly jokes.
>>71983They're not very good jokes.
ohhhh boy, this is the part where they have savage rage induced make up sex isn't it?!
>>71985B-but the mayor, would they really subject him to that?
>>71985Both parties need to be mad for that to happen.
>>71984Yes it isBoy, all this romance stuff sure is fun! Makes me glad we focus on this than the actual story yet again!I'm gonna drown myself in alcohol now and remember the times when I used to give two shits about how much I loved this story!
>>71988And yet, there are fans who live for this sort of stuff. Funny how that is, huh?
You went too far, Kakaka! Too far!
Hussie you better not sink ItchyxDoze because it is the only felt ship I care about!please don't take any of that seriouslySo we finally know what matchsticks does, or did we already know and I forgot?
> You're wasting time again. Better hurry up and conquer this planet so you can find Eggs.Well at least he's got a bunny to help him.
I don't know why, but Carlos always troubles me so much more than Gamzee despite (theoretically) being almost the same character.
>>71991Hussie answered it in a formspring ages ago.
So how bout that flash. Does it mean what I think it means?
>>71995>>71996Yes. Carlos likes stealing ladies' clothes.
I appreciate Hussie's ability to be foreboding and hilariously underwhelming at the same time.
oh man, Caliborn is going to flip his shit when he meets biscuits. (and then absolutely love meeting quarters and cans)
>>71995That Vriska's coat is tailored into the Cairo Overcoat?
>>71989>>71989I'm responding late, but yeah, yeah it is.I used to care about the romance, sorta. But now, I just can't deal.I've just stopped caring and commentating on Homestuck in general. I just want to see this end, and if I get confused about something, I don't even care to look it up anymore when that's all I would do 3 years ago.
>>72001>I've just stopped [...] commentating on Homestuck in general. You evidently have not.
in b4 Peixes PSYCHE
Softcore Megido has seriously filled her Creep Gauge.
>>72001you'll be backthey always come backalso as soon as they take the treasure, whatever the fuck it even is, the cave is going to collapse. that's why softcore megido has such a raging boner right?
that's the best replay button joke yet.
Meenah: unanimously the best troll>>72006Other than being Yaldabaoth themed, did you notice it is also a black hole in the center of a sun?
this comic just picked up
>>72008HOLY. FUCK.i would have NEVER caught onto this
the way vriska is eyeing us, she's getting force snap the camera back to the treasure
>>72009>>72011You just know Hussie's about to pull out the old "PSYCHE!" card.
Man, that's the first time in a long while we've been someone.
>>72011Please no. I'm not ready yet for Wizardy Herbert levels of character story-awareness outside of Caliborn.
>>72009I personally hope we end up seeing one of the other main characters doing something, but from Viceroy Bubbbles Von Salamancer's perspective.
We're almost certainly going to stop being the Viceroy shortly.
>>72014>>72011Looks like "where making this happen" after all.
Is...is Vriska trying to wrestle back control from the narrative prompt so she can show everyone what the treasure is?
>>72018yes. possibly by trying to mind control "that orange guy" rather than "the narrator" (they are kinda the same, except one is a metaphysical concept and the other a dead person)
No. Dammit, Vriska. Just when things were getting good and we were having some sorely needed Casey character development :(
>>72019This actually isn't the first time Hussie's been mind controlled by a spidertroll, even if it was a throwaway joke at the time.
I actually was looking forward to seeing a relatively underpowered character wriggle through obstacles for a bit, just like I enjoyed seeing the one Jack mess around in Prospit's jail. The weapon, I think, had enough time as to build up a sense of mystery considering how late it started even being hinted at in the first place. Maybe we can see it for a few pages and then switch back to in front of the ship. Also, our salamancer could possibly have avoided aging via dark magics and/or spending much of her journey in people's inventory space, which presumably puts one in some kind of stasis.
:D
>>72022Are you defending the jokes that were supposed to be jokes?
So does this mean that when we aren't seeing what characters are doing, they stop doing whatever it is they're in the middle of instead of proceeding as normal? This is highly disappointing and just cheapens pretty much every character. I hope it was worth it for this fourth wall breaking joke.
My first thought: Vriska cut us away just in time to spare us the sight of consort skeletons attacking poor Casey like a horde of zombies. Why else did they all start to step forward?
>>72026Yes. That is exactly what it means. This is in no way Homestuck just poking fun at itself by having one its characters be aware of the format and how the reader experiences it. That would be way too weird.Seriously though, what's up with that SBURB house thing? Has there been any indication of what it might be prior to now? The only thing I can think of is that SBURB house in Calliope's black hole space, but I have no idea what that would imply, if anything.
Honestly, the main thing it reminds me of is that I don't remember seeing Caliborn's session have any windows, breaking the whole pattern where common windows in a player's universe have a set number of panes on them matching the number of players. But since he's technically on Earth, maybe he ended up making it to act as his home planet in the first place, and the house tile thing was involved somehow?>>72025I don't see it as a defense to make an explanation for something the comic specifically claimed was inexplicable. Unless you're saying Casey is a joke, in which case you are entirely wrong as she is the most serious part of the comic. Also Bonebone is a great name, and the one I would have suggested. Bonebone can sell bonbons for boonbucks on the beach.
>>72031It might be a game cursor.
Fun fact, the treasure is transparent-coloured.
>>72033That would explain needing to make it float instead of holding it directly.
That was the most I enjoyed of her.
>>72035It also makes it a literal hole in the comic, and a very important one at that.A plot hole, if you will.
Is that last panel something that hasn't happened yet?
Holy crap, guys. Go back. Look at those pages. John's arm is there now. This is going to be kind of weird for any new archive readers.>>72038Nope.http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=007850
>>72038No, that was at the beginning of John showing up in the dream bubbles and joining Vriska's crew. Also, look at the pages and Flashes that showed up in this. e.g.:http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=001982[spoiler]I'm kind of jealous of the people who are gonna get to read Homestuck for the first time and wonder wtf is with that arm that keeps showing up[spoiler]
>>72039HE EVEN ADDED IT TO THE FLASHES!
Hussie's done a 11/10 job with this update
Maybe this is what Gamzee has been using to be fucking everywhere
John's arm is now the most important character in Homestuck.
Meenah continues to be the best troll.
Bahaha, the file names for the arm pictures all have retcon in them.
but why didn't he use the panel of John high-fiving harlequin sprite? :(
...Did John wake up, or did he just get "I am already here!" powers?
>>72043Gamzee's journey seems pretty straightforward to me. He travels mostly by meteor and once by time machine.
"I feel fear, for the last time."
I wonder if he disappeared because he accidentally touched an unprototyped kernelsprite and got prototyped to it.
Well, John was vibrating at super fast speeds. He probably slipped into another dimension ala speedforce
are we not talking about the best ship in the world
i don't give a shit about troll and human relationships anymore. somehow homestuck has managed to ruin every single one of them for me.but GOD DAMN I FUCKING LOVE CARAPACE ROMANCE PLEASE KEEP THIS GOING
>story shifts to Spades Slick>gets 100x betterAs if this was a surprise to anyone.
Time to pose like a team, guys. Because SHIT JUST GOT REAL.
OH. YES.THIS IS. GOING. TO BE GAY AS HELL.
Wait what. I thought pulling the pins only teleported you to a timeline when the corresponding Felt was alive? Is this more convenient forgetfulness or another retcon?
the felt seem pretty ok with slick having both killed them, and taken over their gang. Are they in the green sun now then? Does this count enough as a fire for matchsticks to time travel through it?
>>72062I think the Felt barely have any sort of self-determination or free will, if they have any at all. It seems like they belong wholly to whoever has the golden pool cue.
>>72061Being in the furthest ring, they are outside of anything properly considered a timeline, so that might make it work differently.
so the oven DOES do something. It's a bag of holding.
>>72068
See, it's stuff like this that keeps me reading. Iggy, Slowpoke, What's His Face, Clover, Shark Guy, Top Hat, Stitch Face, Fatty, Fireman, Biscuits, Other Biscuits, Big Guy, Bigger Guy.
Hahaha Jack what the HELL
Just when you thought this situation couldn't get any worse.Slick is way cooler than Jack English though.
I guess a prince is close enough to a jack for that joke?
Can the comic handle the possibility of a 3 x Jack showdown combob? And Ms.Paint is finally having her adventures it seems. Good for her.
>>72075Dont forget we have Bec Noir out there still.
>>72076let's count1. spades slick2. jack english3. bec noir
This is going to end in a big three-way Jack-off, isn't it?
inb4 Noirscape in the next flash>>72077I've been wondering if the Calikid session Jack will show up somehow too. Hell throw in A1 Noir who probably screwed up the dancestor session somehow
>>72079I don't think he had to screw over the A1 session, they were kinda hopelessly bad players regardless
>>72078best post of the year, all years
>>72081nah. too easy.
>>72079Maybe the A1 Jack was this guy.
>>72083Why didn't Slick use the doll to bring back the rest of the Midnight Crew? Die had pins for them.
But there are four Jacks in a deck.
And YES the pages are retconned yet again...
I'd be very OK with the rest of the comic just being John teleporting around different parts of the comic reacting to the things happening in front of him.
>>72070hey i'm a homestuck now
You know, it occurs to me that there might be some sort of serious implications in the fact that John's time travel is able to take him into universes that have been scratched. Like I guess it was never said outright, but I assumed that, say, Dave or Aradia would not be able to travel back to the pre-scratch universes with their own Time Travel methods.
...how's John going to get back to travelling in normal comic time? And jesus christ, Tumblr's getting mad about John's reaction to the Jake x Dirk kiss. Maybe he's disgusted because it's a goddamn severed head?!?
>>72093Plus given how much alike the two generations look, it's pretty much like he's watching Dave make out with his own severed head.
Is he actually in con air now? What the fuck?
What if all this is leading up to Hussie editing the first page of the comic in three days?
>>72092I don't think John is traveling through time as much as he's traveling through the comic itself.
>>72093>that faceJohn has the best expressions. Thats really all there is to say on the matter
>>72084I guess that means someone else already removed them? Possibly Mrs. Paint, since she already used it to summon Stitch. Also, while I'm concerned about John's ability to not just get torn into a bunch of nothingness, he did manage to take being trolled backwards by Karkat further than I expected him to.
>>72098Jane's got some good ones too.
Eagerly awaiting John's reaction the first time he meets Jake and sees his skulltop
in before Jone gets shot endlessly
Against his best efforts, Caliborn can be such a cute little shit when doing stuff like happily cheering.
Between MSPA's 4/13 release and Psy's new 4/13 single release, pretty sure the internets are fucked.
yes, johnshit might have been slightly less fucked up if jade had taken the time to tell you
>>72108Jade trying to wake up an unresponsive John always ends well.
John's so ronery. But, it looks like the meteor's about to land on one of the other planets, which is good.
this session is like the greatest battlefield of all time
>>72110I doubt that it's gonna land on any of them. It'll probably hit a defense portal and get to Earth that way.I do wonder how they'll get it from "near light speed" to "can land intact", though. Maybe HIC will have Jade do it.
>>72113is there really anything to protect, though?sure skaia is still "there," but it was never prototyped and then blown up by CDthen again that meteor has to end up on earth somehow and there's not really all that many other ways for it to do so
>>72114There's also still the matter of B2 Earth's Frog Temple and GCAT getting there.
and then all the meteor gang suffocated on LOTAK.
for a second there i thought tall kanaya fanon was confirmed true, but i guess rose's just too drunk to stand straight
>>72114I'm guessing it just teleports meteors anyway, otherwise it would let itself get hit in all cases of a failed session, including the pre-scratch universes.
Dave and Karkat didn't want to be outdone in the reaction department by John. also OH SHIT
So if Jade Zap captures them too, the only players running free will be John and Dirk, yeah? That'll be an interesting team up.
In coming 3x dog showdown
jade I dont like u anymore pls stop
if Jade dies like this, will it be Just?
kill them jade. kill all of them.so we can finally get rid of the trolls altogether
>>72127she's being doubly mind controlled against her will by an evil fish alien, i doubt any definition of just covers thatalso what makes you think they can touch her, much less kill her? rose and dave have been said to be nigh unstoppable when teamed up, but rose is too drunk to even walk and the trolls are pretty useless vs an actual god tier. dave can't even approach her without being zapped to the other end of the incipisphere
>>72128also c'mon these three are the only trolls that aren't horribleand even if they died they'd just end up in the bubbles, you're not getting rid of them any time soon
Why does everyone think Jade's gonna murder them? She's probably just gonna zap them to the Condesce or something.
>>72129But Terezi killed "an actual god tier" so they're not that useless. I get the feeling people seem to think DBZ POWAH LEVELZ when it comes to God Tiers, but it hasn't really been that way, particularly given we don't know if auto-revive works anymore now that the clock is busted. I mean being God Tier doesn't mean you're any less susceptible to guns or swords. However, I do believe Jade's Guardian-powers do put her in a league beyond everyone at the meteor, and perhaps everyone else in comic aside from Jack and PM, and mind controllers like Condy, Vriska, and Tavros.
>>72130I don't care anymore, I just want them dead.Yes killing them will put them into the bubbles, but that also removes them from the most of the story
>>72132>But Terezi killed "an actual god tier" so they're not that useless. Not in a straight up fight, though. God tiers are just as killable as they would be regularly. They do however have a lot more powers
>>72122>you gonna hit that bro>NO WAY MAN. SHE'S ALL YOURS.>nah i think you two really hit it off way back then.>she digs the nubs dude.>SHE KNEW ME FOR ALL OF 12 HOURS I CAN'T COMPETE.>i am not taking the crazy wolf chick man>WELL NEITHER AM I!
ten bucks condesce will take control of noir and pm
>>72127According to Scratch>Or one may be subject to corruption, and slain by a hero. This would be just. Doesn't look good for Jade.
>>72132yeah, because she put a cane in her backgod tiers might not be able to take a sword through the chest, but how are you supposed to do that when you can't get near them?i mean apart from dave and rose they can't even fly up and touch her even if she'd let themnot that it matters anyway, i'm 95% certain )(ic's gonna round them all up and try to "negotiate"she would gain nothing by actually fighting them, and she can't just kill them due to the whole immortality biznizshe DOES however want to break free from english, and a bunch of god tiers would be helpful in that regard
>>72132>we don't know if auto-revive works anymore now that the clock is busted.Yeah we do. John got killed by Bec Noir after Vriska's death, and auto-revived a bit later.
>>72139 Wait, why would the destruction of the God Tier Clock in Scratch's office ONLY affect Vriska? The recent narrative when Spades Slick came across it again made it clear its destruction did directly affect the reason why Vriska's death wasn't "judged," so we know it DID affect Vriska's auto-revive, but it didn't affect John's?
>>72138>>not that it matters anyway, i'm 95% certain )(ic's gonna round them all up and try to "negotiate" she would gain nothing by actually fighting them, and she can't just kill them due to the whole immortality bizniz she DOES however want to break free from english, and a bunch of god tiers would be helpful in that regardThe only one who would be in danger in this scenario would be Karkat as he's a mutant and bears the sign of one of the )(IC's most hated opponents. The most valuable person there other than the godtiers would be Kanaya because of her caste--assuming that this is all part of )(IC's plan to revive the troll race.
>>72145yes well while the mind controlling might be excused, she's not exactly gonna get into kanaya's good graces by killing one of her friendsbesides, i don't think there's like some special genetic component that makes jadebloods better at being breeders (apart from being female [cue tumblrite screams of discrimination]) and if there is she would already have that power, so if she would need her for something it would be the matriorb... which she no longer has (but will realchemize soon enough)
>>72144>You look the clock up and down. Doesn't look the same as you remember. It was a lot fancier when you smashed it with the Crowbar. You mean the crowbar. All purple and gold and... ticking. As if deciding the fate of someone you don't know or care about. Someone who doesn't understand a golden opportunity when she sees it. [...] >Someone whose behavior may have been controversial, and whose sentence apparently had to be arbitrated by a magic timepiece. Just as well you smashed it. That way nobody could outsource their judgment to the verdict of a stupid clock.>That way nobody could outsource their judgment to the verdict of a stupid clock.and besides, and we've been over this a thousand times, the hand was CLEARLY about to stop at "Just" when Slick hit the clock
>>72147Whether Vriska's death was Just or not is not a relevant, the clock was admittedly the thing that decided whether a death was Just or Heroic and thus not eligible for revival. The sentence you highlighted is pointing out how stupid it is to have a device that could impartially judge such a thing (essentially telling the reader "this person's death was just" instead of letting the reader debate and come to their own conclusion), but that WAS its purpose within confines of the comic before it was destroyed by the Crowbar. With it broken, Vriska's death never got an official judgment, so she stayed dead. I would think that would mean any God Tier deaths should also be subject to that kind of result. The only answer I can think of that makes sense is that the timeline of John dying and Vriska dying is not as linear as we would believe, and that Vriska died to Terezi after John had been stabbed by Jack Noir. Technically, we don't know how long it took Terezi to run into Vriska, and the comic itself has been notoriously nonlinear in its presentation of events in the past.
>>72149my point was that it doesn't matter if the clock was broken. it didn't DECIDE anything, it was just an indicator. slick smashed it just as it was about to show her fate, so that we could not>outsource [our] judgement to the verdict of a stupid clock.of course, that is rendered slightly moot since it did shift over to Just AND she didn't come back to lifeso god tier deaths should function as normal, as did vriska's. after all why would hussie introduce us to the concept of god tier immortality if he's going to make it completely irrelevant after we've seen it happen all of once (john) when it wasnt even all that important of an event?
>>72150>The clock is just an indicator, it didn't decide anythingHmm. I suppose that could be the case as well, but then I don't understand the significance of Spades Slick destroy the clock at that particular moment. We know Vriska's death wasn't heroic, so the only open question was weather it was Just or not, and I saw the destruction of the clock (interpreting its role as arbiter of such matters) as a way of going "guess we'll never know now, readers~!" lending fuel to the various Vriska morality debates that occur in the fandom. But what you say is also true: why would you introduce a mechanic (God Tier's can't die unless the death was Just or Heroic) if it was only going to be used once before being rendered defunct by the destruction of the clock.Clearly what we need to do is kill off some more God Tiers and see what happens.
>>72151The significance in-universe is that Spades Slick hates clocks and/or enjoys destroying them. The significance out-of-universe is that Hussie didn't want to give the viewers a straight answer, and leave it up to them to determine what they think happened.
If you think in levels of power, you're going to lose this game. Aradia easily outsmarted Bec Noir for an easy escape. They could do the same here.
By the way guys who were worried about it earlier, I'm fairly sure Jade won't be dying, at least not yet. She hasn't sized up the planets and battlefield from the old session yet, and as far as I know there's no other way to make this session winnable than her doing so, and I can't imagine we're going to spend this long on the story and then have them fail to create the new Universe.I guess it's possible that when she dies her space warping magic all comes undone, but I doubt it. It didn't seem like it was something she was having to put any effort into maintaining during the Yellow Yard.
>>72164Jade won't die because nobody really dies in Homestuck. It's completely meaningless. At this point, even if somebody did die for real for real, I'm not sure I'd have much of a reaction to it because death has been cheapened so much already.
>>72165What about poor, sweet Nepeta?
>>72165I don't think that works out. First, you won't know if someone's died for real until the end of the comic. Second, even if you did, you're currently immunized to Homestuck death precisely because it never lasts; I would think that an honest-to-God confirmed permanent demise wouldn't be subject to that skepticism.
>>72166so pointless that even the author turned her into a parody of how pointless she is
>>72168Are you telling me it doesn't tear you up inside every time you see yet another of the billions of dead Nepetas get double-killed?
>>72153i repeatkarkat's ability is to be good at relationship stuffterezi doesn't even believe her seer powers are real anymorekanaya is super strong... and she can glow rose is so drunk she can't stand straightso basically the only one out of the whole bunch who is any help in this situation is dave, and even if he could pull an aradia, jade isn't bec noir. she has dominion over all the space in the incipisphere (remember how she just magically knew jane and jake were in danger?), there's no escaping from her in this situationalso vriska and aranea's mind powers couldn't be used to control humans, right, only put them to sleep? this still applies. the condesce put the human part of jade's mind to sleep and took control over the dog part
aw lookit john's :ჰ face...
Stolen from /co/ HSG
um okaywhat is )(hic planning exactly
>>72168If a character turns out to be a joke, who's fault us that? Not Nepeta's.
Erisol still the best. And I guess John loves Con Air again?
This. This is my favorite update in a long, LONG while.
Oh man, John's back in fighting form and gets to see his friends again! And finally meet Karkat in person! I'm so excited for the rest of Homestuck.Actually, I just realized--assuming Jade's about to swoop in (which is likely, since the effects used suggest she's the one that teleported everyone to the same place), this is going to be the first time the Beta Kids are all in the same physical location.
>>72175John/Con Air, like all Homestuck relationships, only went through a bad little patch.
Holy cow, I didn't even realize what day it was. Also John is too cute.
Gotta give props to Hussie's ability to gauge what people who've been through this for the long haul are feeling. The last thing I wanted was to sit on the edge of my seat for yet another convoluted, "epic" flash with a million bits of detail and actions zipping by while we struggle to not blink so to not miss all the important nuances and things.I'm seriously tired of all that and was prepped to sit through another ordeal. This flash turned out to be way better than I expected.
>>72181I don't think anybody was expecting a big-deal flash; there wasn't a long break.
i have to say, despite the fact that this comic still has a seemingly unending lifeline this last update has really put into perspective, to me, the fact that this comic is coming to a closeand the more i think about how threads just like these involving predictions on the future of the comic, and critics voicing their opinion on the events that take place will soon come to an endit makes me realize just how much i'm going to miss this legendary piece of shit and it's convoluted mess of rants and ragingseriously though, just as much as i'm going to miss coming home to a fresh update to sink my teeth into, i'll miss coming here and discussing the future of the comic with you guys.
>>71939>>71942>Rose is a drunk slut forever>Accidentally invents a new, drunken romantic quadrant>Progresses as a light-hearted and interesting character rather than boring grimdark prudeI think you guys are way more concerned about the situation than you need to be.
>>72185But we're old fashioned here. We like our sluts sober.
And it looks like we are getting a new disc?
>>72187Nah.DLC.
10/10 greatest ending in human historyWell guys its been a fun ride, I'll miss homestuck
we hiatus now
well this pretty much IS the end, reallyno updates for months, and then a bunch of far between flashes to round the whole comic upah well it was nice knowing you /mspa/
The second coming of The Great Hiatus is upon us.Oh well, see you in a few months /mspa/. Hussie has always been bad with time estimates so it'll probably be longer than just a few months, though.
"The flash with John yesterday was a metaphor for how the fandom will deal with the hiatus.Likewise, John's face in "END OF ACT 6 INTERMISSION 5" is the visual representation of how the fandom will react when Homestuck starts again."
Sigh. So next act is likely the last, then we get a brief epilogue. There are so many things left unanswered and unresolved though. I guess some things we'll just be left guessing forever :(
>>72196Like what? Like all the ancient machinery and lotuses scattered around?
>>72196>There are so many things left unansweredlast i checked the comic wasn't overbesides whatever it is you think went unanswered was probably explained and you simply didn't catch it
>>72196He said when we come back, we'll be in Act 6 Act 6. Assuming Act 6 emulates the format of the comic as a whole (which is looking more and more likely, since this hiatus apparently matches up with Cascade, which was itself followed by a big hiatus), there'll probably be a relatively short Act 6 Act 7 after Act 6 Act 6, then a final, relatively short Act 7. But Act 6 has been the longest Act so far by a long shot, so chances are Act 6 Act 6 will be quite long as well.
>>72193> no updates for months, and then a bunch of far between flashes to round the whole comic upNot quite yet.>Work on a whole bunch of regular updates for A6A6, leading up to the end of HS.If we assume three months and an average of five pages per day that's almost 500 pages right there. That's more than a pre-Act 5 Act.
MAP UPDATEI've been waiting for this for ages. How about that "secret trilogy" not being so secret any more?
>>72222MAPDATE
2up.*grab2 diick2*
UPDOFF!OPDATE!DOFFPLAT!BLAAAAA!... There are more pages on the site now.
I...
But we were having such a nice relaxing hiatus...
>Dave is cherub shakespeareHeh.Is this just a random update, or is the great hiatus over?
>>72338ngl this actually made me burst out laughing. This update was such a huge piece of shit I love it. Caliborn is incredible
His reaction to the How To Draw Manga book gets me every time I read it.
I love how Caliborn is as much a Gary/Mary Sue as his sister.
And we are back with the creepy glitchy shit.
cartridge is full of junk eh? John's gone missing too?Well, when a cartridge is dirty, you should blow in it, right? Maybe John 4th walled out of there and is now in caliborn's den?
Goddamn. Before the glitchy shit started that flash was looking amazing. It had the same "oh daaammn" quality of Cascade. Really loving how creative Hussie is with his panels lately
Last time the game was this messed up we had to take it to scratch....
>>72348Scratch is dead. As >>72346 suggested, the hot theory of the moment is that John will have to use the windy thing on the cartridge to blow the gunk out like an NES game.
So what I pieced together is this:* Jade at some point kicked John in the face.* Jade at some point faced Jane.* Jane at some point stood in front of a control panel with GCat.* Jade rode the meteor through a defense portal, arriving at some point near the end of the Alpha universe and was preparing to move the entire planet Earth. We know this Earth is the same one on which the cherubs grew up, so it looks like Jade was the one who rescued it from the Red Miles. But to where did she move it? And what happened to her after she did so? And where's John?
>>72351I want to say she moved Earth to one of the Troll universes. Based on the fact that Calliope and Caliborn's father is seen nuking the canon fantrolls and this took place in the same universe as that Earth. As for how she moved it to a dead universe I have no idea, but this webcomic is no stranger to weird paradox time shit.
>>72351The control panel in question appears to be an ectobiology apparatus comparable to the one used to create Bec, and she has the BARK code with her, so it's currently believed that was her creating GCAT.
>>72352A dead universe is just a universe that has an end. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, as a whole. I mean, the transportalizers also exchange matter with a dead universe.
Huh. The meteor group's branch has been blocked out of the story flow. I wonder if that was intentional or just another oversight.
well hopy shit. If Roxy gets good enough at her aspect, they won't even need some bullshit magic ring to bring everyone back to life! She could just un-void them back by imagining hard enough. More reasons why Roxy is best human :3
>you're the most powerful one, Jake>No, YOU ARE, DIRK!>NO, ROXY IS!make up your damn minds
>>72356Well Jade said almost anything. I'm guessing the "almost" covers the dead and Jujus, probably.I thought creation was going to be Jake's deal though, makes me wonder what his powerset will be. Must be good though, condy's trying to recruit him right away.(I hope Roxy and Dave meetup and sbahjify the shit out of everything with Roxy's powers)
Well, I guess if you give your characters entirely vague titles, it's perfectly understandable that you would bullcrap your way into giving them whatever power you like.
Huh, I was thinking that kind of power would require finding some non-real version of a thing, like a hologram of ghost version, to steal the void from rather than simply willing it to exist, though I guess that actually is more what Jake does? I'm thinking the major difference between titles is in the methods used to accomplish goals, even or perhaps especially when there's a lot of overlap in the results of their actions.
Grimbark Jade's sprite art looks creepy in a real bad way.
>>72360I'm wondering why Hussie thinks he needs another way of making things appear out of nowhere when he already has alchemy.
>>72364Can you alchemize quest beds for the rest of the living trolls? *possible hint*
>>72364It's to get around the problem of needing things that are too costly to alchamize (ie. the matriorb) to advance the plot. Also it's a development challenge for one of the main characters, who must master this new ability.
>>72360You're acting as though this is a surprising interpretation of Roxy's title. I thought of it pretty much the first time I heard her title, but wrote it off because I couldn't figure out the logistics at the time.
>>72367Uh huuuuuuh...
I would presume stealing the void from objects would have the cost of increasing one's own void, and thus decreasing one's significance/existence, as opposed to a maid of light which I speculate would have some sort of regenerating light stipend. Though I suppose a void player could seek out other ways of acquiring light to compensate for the increased void?
Dave is amazing.damn we need a new thread.
and then John and Dave get split up again before they can talk.
>Dave's ramblings still in a dialoglog and not a monologMissed a trick there, Hussie. And this whole little bit is showing how much Dave's changed really. He would've never laughed out loud in the earlier acts. He seems a lot more open now.
Hold the fucking phone. Is this actually the first time these two have ever met?? Holy shit.
>>72373No, the first time they met was back on LOMAX. But this is the first time we've seen them meet.
>>72372But it's a dialogue AND a monologue, so there's no reason NOT to call it a dialoglog.
>>72374We saw Jade fight Jack alongside Dave in the header in the Doc Scratch pages and also kiss him to revive him
