Well if the Condescension is currently focusing on facing against English, then she isn't as much of a threat. They'll eventually need to stop her from building another empire, but that's a less immediate and overall a lesser threat than English. I'm thinking her battle with English might actually act as a distraction to allow the kids who aren't involved with it to deal with creating a new universe at the same time. While I still like Homestuck as a whole and enjoy reading it, I do agree with what you're saying. The original main characters all feel like minor side characters now. John definitely isn't the main character any more. Nobody really is.

I feel like Act 6 as a whole would have been way better if the characters on the meteor were able to communicate with the alpha kids through dream bubbles or something. Not just glimpses of each other like Rose and Roxy had, but actual conversations. At least then Dave, Rose and the trolls would still have some feeling of presence.

Remember, the point of a moirail isn't just to be "best therapy friends forever." It's for one troll to curb the violent/insane tendencies of another. Karkat was never dangerous, just angry. But he seems to have chilled out somewhat judging by how he's handling the current situation with Terezi. He isn't flying off the handle and yelling, he's asking for advice and approaching the situation very reasonably.

Terezi might need one though, depending on how far into the juggalo throes she has fallen. I could see Karkat becoming her moirail and keeping her from going too crazy.
