Moirallegiance's definition is kind of unclear. Is it two trolls who pacify and protect each other, or is a moirail someone who pacifies/protects you, while you can be somebody else's moirail? Equius/Nepeta are the textbook example, but I don't think it was ever said outright that a moirallegiance is supposed to be mutual.

If it's supposed to be strictly mutually beneficial like in Equius/Nepeta, then Karkat/Kanaya doesn't work and nor does Meenah/Aranea (unless you count deflating her windfangedness a form of pacification). we've been over two billion times why karkat♦kanaya would be a two-way functional moirallegiance. their personalities balance each other out fairly well and kanaya isn't actually demure/harmless/super nice despite the faces she puts on.

it's not as easy to see where meenah♦karkat comes from but i guess what you say makes sense. and yeah meenah♦aranea comes across as pretty one-sided from aranea.

In every example of Moirallegiance in the comic (Equius/Nepeta, Eridan/Feferi, Karkat/Gamzee), one of the Moiralls is violent and the other one keeps them in line. While a certain amount of violence is healthy in a troll's love life, these characters go above and beyond into the dangerously violent category. Moirallegiance is really more for the safety of the troll species than the well-being of any one individual.
