I will never understand people trying to justify Eridan/Cronus.
I actually saw a post on Tumblr of someone basically going "WOW REALLY FANDOM, YOU'RE GONNA HATE ON CRONUS JUST CAUSE HE TOUCHED MITUNA'S SHOULDER, WOW GET OVER YOURSELF, CRONUS IS PRECIOUS"

Like, there's nothing wrong with liking characters who are shitty people, but you shouldn't be in denial about how shitty they are.

The Ampora family's varying levels of terribleness are why I actually despise Eridan but don't mind Cronus. Cronus is so awful that it comes right back around to being funny and obvious Eridan satire. Eridan however gets loads of sympathy from fanboys and fangirls alike, with many awful people believing Eridan represents their "struggles" and justifies their general awfulness. As a character and cause, he's more dangerous irl than Cronus.

I see plenty of people defending/sympathizing with Cronus too, somehow, which is even weirder because there's literally nothing to sympathize with Cronus over, he's never been anything but a terrible terrible person, Eridan at least has the Forever Aloners who can relate to him.
And it just really sickens me to see people defending the molestation of a mentally handicapped character because they think another character is cute.

Right. It's like--I love Daffy Duck. But Daffy Duck is a complete asshole, and unquestionably deserves pretty much every bad thing that happens to him. I am capable of both loving the character and understanding that other characters' reaction to his dickery is justified. I can even want for him to win in his conflicts just because I like him more, without having to think that he is morally justified or a good person.

Alright then, I understand what you are saying.
I like Eridan, he's an interesting character emotionally. But he's still an idiot and was wrong, and while what happened to him is sad; it was necessary. He had reached a dead end.
