See? I remember things from back then. Not a whole lot. I couldn't tell you in each and every little thread I was a part of, but I remember the important stuff.

I remember the fun little threads we used to have. Just a bunch of us /draw/kids from the neighborhood just screwing around and drawing adventures. Good clean fun.

Not this DA bullshit we have now, where everyone has an art thread, filled with fetish requests for the artist to draw.

Speaking of requests, i should have banned the damn things! Oh sure, I wasn't a fan of the turn /draw/ took, but I accepted it. Hell, I moderated it! If this is what the people want-- Let them have it!

But those fucking requests. They happened in every thread, popping up like weeds. Neglectful groundskeeper that I was, I left them. They seemed harmless.

But they killed this place. Made it barren! They drove off Geers! Geers who, despite not really liking his style, I could say was a talented artist! I'm sure it made others not want to frequent this place as well.

It should have been a rule that, unless the artist stated they were taking requests, you couldn't make requests. Then I could have banned all those little, socially-inept, fuckers and I would have been right to do it!

Besides, it's the old fags' fault this place went to hell! I mean, they stopped caring and left, didn't they? They allowed things to get like this, right?

I never abandoned this place. I stayed behind here and I held the goddamn line for years! YEARS!

But then again, is that right? Wasn't I the driving force behind /draw/ back in those days? Wasn't i the first one to lose interest? I became sick of being "Pym" and decided to stop. Wasn't that really the beginning of the end? No. The board was slowing down long before then. Maybe it was my fault. I slackened in my duties, and no one else felt the motivation to keep it going either.

I suppose, in the end, it was the natural progression of things.

I mean, we've all seen it happens. People grow up and soon you see the old, familiar, faces begin to fade away as newer, stranger faces begin to take their place. Hell, I only check this place out once in a blue moon myself. I'm too busy these days to do threads like I used to. Hell, it's too much work to do these threads, really.

I guess that's just how things go. I've seen it happen to other communities, older ones I used to be a part of, but it's still a little depressing to see it go. It's pathetic, but I used to just absolutely love coming to this place and see what sort of things you people were getting up to.

I know that whining won't bring them back, Endpiece. It still feels good to vent, though.

Well, I've only been coming here for two years, maybe a little more, so I can't claim to remember your golden days of yore, but I like /draw/ as it is now. Sure it's slow and when it's not it's because some costumed madman made a whole bunch of threads, but I like it all the same.

Well, I stopped contributing because I started actually trying to concentrate on improving my art. Unfortunately, this meant using my Id as a paint, just to rustle up the willpower to draw anything at all.
And this also meant producing things I don't want traced back to me. If only for reputation sake.

I do miss stupid doodling with the beige obnoxious head, but I'm not ready to maintain two different styles and keep the art distinct.

I've never actually been a /draw/fag before, but I'd be willing to fill in drawing requests if you guys had a shortage of artists.

I've always wanted to participate in /draw/ more, but I've never really "felt it," y'know? I'm not sure how I'm supposed to use it, and yeah, the idea of just using it as another Deviant Art or Tumblr seems pointless.

What are your suggestions for making /draw/ great again?

I overstate what /draw/ used to be. See, back in the day, since I was a drawfag, I made too many drawfag posts in /baw/, and generally fucking around and derailing threads, so Anonex made /draw/. What we did was basically make collaborative /draw/ threads where we just goofed off and had fun. You didn't really need to be a good artist, so long as you drew something funny.

At some point people made personal threads to show off their skills and for critique. I also was the on-again, off-again, mod. I tried to, a few times, try to steer away from that direction, and sometimes had a happy middle with drawjams and competitions (Which some people liked, but I got lazy).

Basically, just go into a thread, do whatever, and be funny is my suggestion.

You know, I just bumped into an archived board. Looks like there was a Shi-Painter thingy on-site, some paintchat or something like that threads...

Yeah, that used to be a thing. Before we switched to the new boards (and I was still a shitty mod), I tried to get a weekly artjam going, in hopes to get that collaborative spirit going... Or at least to have threads other than "My personal Art Thread Wherein I Post Porn", but they ended up losing steam and then Doctor Girlfriend tried her hand at them. Then I picked them up again on the new board, lost steam, and Jonix picked up the torch.

I dunno, maybe me, or someone else, should start those up again.

My word - I do remember when silly threads proliferated and wonderful, if nonsensical stories grew daily.
It was fun playing and improvising storylines based on the previous drawings, and then in turn, see those that followed invent more delicious madness and fun.
Endpiece, I still have that page you made, the Mignola homage - love it to bits.
I'd like to do more all-nighters, thinking up mad scenarios - but I find my time is restricted (as is my current computer) and that making money illustrating stuff takes precedence.
But by Jove! A weekend every now and then, doing these things, would be a jolly romp.
