Because the hype is taking over multiple boards and I can see people getting annoyed soon.

As of right now we're -very- close to stretch goal three.

So after actually looking at the datums, it's seeing a drop of about 150k in pledges every day. It's still making big gains because it started so damn high, but it should level off soon unless there's an especially big push in the middle of the month.

I kinda dislike how the entire fanbase for this game has become a huge hate-machine against Capcom. I realize what they did to Inafune and what this project is, but being bitter and spiteful is how this whole shit started in the first place and focusing on that as part of a fandom for something is just turning the fanbase practically intolerable. It's like the fanbase for Pathfinder. So many of them are angry and spiteful at D&D 4e that I just couldn't put up with them after a while.
>> No. 179925

That's why I don't like the idea of this game at all. Either you make Capcom say yes to another legitimate Megaman game, or you make something 100% completely different. You don't just make Not Megaman.

I've only played Pathfinder and not vanilla D&D though, I can't speak on that end.

Yes and all this has done is really further ad fuel to the proverbial fire. Inafune wanted to give his fans a new megaman and I can't rightfully begrudge him for wanting to do that, but the fanbase taking this opportunity to continue to be angry and hateful toward the company that fucked them over to start with rather than just being thankful that a developer has enough care and compassion to give them this is kind of telling to me.

Especially if we consider the argument many people make that fans of megaman have always been more attached to Inafune than Capcom. Meaning that the company should if anything be an AFTERTHOUGHT at this point.

The fact that this project even exists is angry and hateful. Your bosses tell you something won't work, you don't pout like a baby and continue making knockoff derivative shit of your own work, stuff that is no longer your baby. It's the company's baby.

Yes because the ideology of Adolf Eichmann is a great philosophy.

He isn't stealing Megaman, he's not being a baby or any of the other misinformed and ignorant things you say.

He is delivering a product to a market which is demanding it, his role in creating that market just lends credence to the quality of that product.

I am, though. I'm completely serious and I was incredibly livid about this, and I'm sorry if you guys think I'm an idiot.

It's nice to make things that fans want, that I approve of, but I still don't think Capcom hates Megaman by a longshot (if they did, I think they'd pretend he never existed) or has any intention of no longer making games if they're still using him so much. What are you even talking about? He's in a comic and Smash Brothers, neither of which are being done by Capcom, though the small concession of allowing him to be used should obviously be mentioned.

>I'm just mad because I think No. 9's design should look a lot less like Megaman

Are you mad at Mickey Mouse for being Oswald? You should look at the rest of the team, Inafune's not the only Mega-talent there.

I'm not using him for a Nazi comparison, I'm using him because of his actions.

Eichmann didn't really give two shits about the Jews, he joined the party for social status and power and never questioned his superiors or disobeyed them and in doing so organized mass efficiency in the implementation of the final solution, he even called himself a Zionist at one point.

This is all moot, the point of the comparison is that you HAVE to disobey, you HAVE to question.

Inafune left and became his OWN Boss because he disagreed with how Capcom was running the show and that's the kind of thing people need to and should do when they face irreconcilable differences with their job. Otherwise you are a spineless yesman.

Okay, but here's the problem with that: do you have the same problem with Yazmat remaking Tactics Ogre as Final Fantasy Tactics? Or half of Wolf Team becoming Tri-Ace and remaking Tales of Phantasia as Star Ocean?

Do you have the same problem with Capcom themselves making an off-license Legend of Zelda with a sun-goddess in wolf form and an awesome graphical style as Okami?

The thing is, I think you're trying to make this a Principled Issue when it just....really isn't. If anyone but Inafune had made this game, I don't think you would be able to go on this tirade at all--indies make clones of other people's games with tweaks all the time.

Capcom made one of their top creators, the man behind fucking STREET FIGHTER, work himself to a heart attack and then hop right back to work the second he was out of the hospital. They weren't even working him like a fucking animal like this because they thought SF4 was going to be a hit; this was a low-resource cash-in to them. They very nearly KILLED this man because they just wanted to toss the game they thought would be a flop out the door quicker.

Not ONCE in that post did I defend Capcom. I said people who were shouting and angry about it were annoying to put up with.

And yes, being angry about THAT bullshit is marginally better because in that case someone's health was put at risk due to terrible business practices. But so much of it is just angry and bitter sentiment over games being cancelled or poorly made.

Not gonna try and get into this shit here... but I'm starting to see where the concern is coming from.

The problem, as far as I can see, is that Megaman is by itself a very simple concept. It's Jump and Shoot Man. Yes MN9 is currently offering some interesting new IDEAS like mode changing and shit (but really even that's not a new concept to Megaman) but outside of that there's not much else to talk about from what I can see...

OUTSIDE of the politics that goes on behind the scenes. Specifically between Keiji Inafune and Capcom. And what else is there to say but Capcom are jerks? It's kind of a one-sided conversation that's somewhat negative and not really getting to the heart of the matter: that Japan's Business model in general is horribly fucked up and based around a lot of really terrible managing practices that Capcom is FAR from the only corporation that implements them.

I'd LOVE to see people or organizations take a stand and make a public display to Japan to tell them to improve their humanitarian relations in terms of business... but given how Insular and (lets face it) Xenophobic the country is there isn't much of a chance of that happening either.

idk maybe this is just me but I think the game itself just isn't interesting enough as is to warrant a discussion about it, rather than the background behind it. And the actual background discussion is only what I can describe as preaching to the proverbial choir. Maybe someone else can provide a better foundation for a discussion than this but I don't think I can...

While the rate does seem to have severely dropped in the last day or two, it would be bad to do a big press/fan push now. Better to let it sit and gather another $100K or two over the next two weeks, then do a giant media blitz during the final week to try to hit those last two (three?) stretch goals. Combining the media blitz with the "Dawn of the Last Day" feeling will get a larger surge than doing them separately.

But they already have Manami Matsume, and I'm liking the sample tracks they put up for her. If they have a red prototype robot in this game too, they could help make his theme, which might help underline how he distances himself so much? I was thinking more something like Double O tending to lecture Beck via signing, and/or having their instrumentals during battles against him/whenever his influence is meant to seem prominent.

Basically, I'm guessing the inclusion of their music might end up too heavily influencing the overall style of the game, if it isn't limited to defining a particular a character as being a foil to/dissonant with the rest of the cast. Worst case scenario, I'm thinking it could end up like Days of Ruin, with the gritty realistic tone chasing away people who want fun colorful fightan' (like me). On the other hand, if the Mighty No. 9 team likes working with the Protomen, and really think they can make it work rather than just having in in there for the sake of bowing to popular demand, I trust them to make it work.

You know, they've presently described Call as Beck's 'partner'. Does that mean she's his friend, girlfriend? what?

Still good to hear she's playable that should be interesting.

Also, I just realised that Beck still fits under the musical theme naming, like Rush.

Nope http://www.destructoid.com/keiji-inafune-dropped-mad-mega-man-secrets-on-me-261362.phtml

"I'm sorry to disappoint the fans, but actually Rush was not based on the band, Rush was based on a Capcom game called Rush & Crash [known as The Speed Rumbler outside of Japan -- Tony] that I really liked. Actually, the word 'Rush' sounds kind of like 'Lassie' [pronounced 'Rasshu' and 'Rasshi']. Back then, Lassie was a very popular movie about a dog, of course, so it just fit as far as the phonetic flow of the word."

I'm guessing because of the stretch goal that's been tacked on the end today. I've seen one complaint already that "Wayforward's making a whole game for 400k!" and YMMV as to how much that's a legitimate criticism given the scale of this thing. There's no denying it's definitely going to drive the last-day surge (which is already looking like it's gonna be massive).

"Wayforward's making a whole game for 400k!" As much as I hate to admit it, they do kind of have a point there especially considering they're two games in the same genre.

Really hoping for a 3DS version for both of them.
>> No. 181107
Wayforward games also tend to be much much shorter/smaller. And in all likelihood, will require fewer, less detailed assets, less time developing characters as they are mostly already established, fewer employees to pay, and tons of other factors.

Its not really fair to compare budgets.
>> No. 181108

That's the thing though.

Wayforward has promised Shantae on everything. iOS, 3DS, Vita, PS4, Xbone, your moms toaster.

MNO9 is asking for like, an extra couple thousand bucks to be on all of those. It's a might bit suspicious to me how Wayforward can promise their game on basically every console but Inafune needs an extra hundred thousand bucks to see if he can put it on the 3DS.
>> No. 181109

it seems that Mighty No. 9 will be made with Unreal Engine, which adds a LOT to the production costs. IIRC the basic license was 350K and you still had to pay royalties.

I don't want to diss Wayforward in any way or form, shit I backed both games, but Comcept's game is a bit more ambitious and the scope of the production is bigger.

Nintendo tends to charge out the nose for their dev kits. I'm also willing to bet that Wayforward is looking to finish the game rather than completely fund it. Also I don't think that Shantae is slated for the 3DS, but I could be wrong.
>> No. 181116

Wii dev kits were actually really cheap (I want to say $2K per) but you had to be an established dev to get them. Considering the lack of games for the Wii U, I expect a similar situation for their latest console. While Comcept has few titles under its belt, I doubt that Nintendo would say no to Inafune.

>>181108
Double Fine also promised us a game for something like 1.6M, but it's far behind schedule and scope AFAIK. They're somewhere between Wayforward and Comcept as far as dev studios go, so I think that Inafune and team are taking the smarter approach on this.

To be clear what happened with Double Fine is that they got swamped in money (they brought in more than eight times what they had asked for, and they were the first big Kickstarter, nobody had any idea how to handle this sort of thing at the time). They increased the scope of the project to try to actually use all that money, and overshot. These things happen. Not a lot of dev teams know exactly how to calibrate for suddenly having eight times more budget than they had planned for, and it's easy to get moon eyes when more money than god is staring you in the face.

Comparing Shantae to MN9 may not strictly be comparing apples to oranges, but it's definitely not a good one-to-one comparison. They're two different projects with different scopes, different expectations, made in different ways. Saying Inafune is a crook (!?!) because Wayforward is doing something superficially similar for less money is...really, really fucking dumb.
>> No. 181140

Good sprite animation takes a hell of a lot longer to do than polygons, where you can take small shortcuts here and there by giving a direction and speed instead of having to move the arm frame by frame. In addition, one polygon motion works in any direction, whereas one sprite animation works only in one direction.

But that's not due to having a Kickstarter, that's due to poor money management (an endemic in the game dev world, so it seems.) It may have been the same result if they had just done regular investment and found a guy who said "Yeah, I'll invest, but instead of $400,000, how about $1.6 million?"

I can imagine that they were overwhelmed and might have done a bit of foot-in-mouth at the time, but after everything calmed down there was no reason for them to not find a fitting development path and manage their budget and expectations. Everything that happened since was due to head-in-the-clouds thinking.

The movie industry has been doing this for decades and not had such a problem with money (Hollywood accounting aside.) While they're a spectator medium, there are still a ton of parallels between movie and video game creation, which is why the industry's continual problem with explosive budgets for moderate games continues to boggle my mind.

I'm still mad that the Pink Call wasn't even an option. It definitely got the 'robot' vibe across more than NotRoll and would be able to emote more if they decided to go in that direction. I think F had the advantage of being the only one of the initial designs to carry over into the original poll, since people have already gotten to know and like it (the whole NotRoll thing notwithstanding). The fact that Call is not Beck's 'sister' is going to make it a bit weird if it does win.

Also, anyone else notice Beck still technically fits MMClassic's musical theme naming? At least as much as Rush does at least...

Eh, I figured that they might try and go for something slightly more original, like they did back when design Aero for MML3.

I guess I'm mad because my favourite design wasn't even an option. Hell, none of the ones previously advertised except notRoll have shown up in round two. Honestly, I'd have been happier if they hadn't shown any of the prior designs until the vote came and surprised us. At least that way there wouldn't be lingering disappointment. I think intentionally or not they created an impression that when the vote came, *all* of the initial designs would be on offer.

I just liked Pink!Call because she actually reminded me of some other parts of MM history they never got closure. Aside from Aero's colours, her headgear kind of resembles Pandora's from ZX who was planned to be one of the stars of ZX3 at one point (Also she seems to be wearing Aile's short shorts). I wonder if whoever designed her had that in mind, since Inticreates did create ZX after all.

So apparently a dome woman named Dina whos boyfriend works for the company producing the game got hired to do artwork for the robots and manage the community. Her first ever post relating to the game was how they needed to change the androgynous main character to a woman because reasons (she's a confirmed social justice warrior) and also said she never played a megaman game, but then said Megaman X was her favorite.

In short she's someone who probably isn't that qualified for either position, lies, and has an agenda to push.

What has the actual team behind Mighty No. 9 said or done that leads you to believe she’s joined the design/development team or now has any real say in the game’s direction?

Right now, all I’ve seen is the announcement that she’s become the Community Manager. Her tweets could refer to the design of something else entirely (e.g. the eventual M#9 website, the planned instruction books); if they does refer to the game, she could just have a hand in designing non-boss robots (e.g. the M#9 version of the ever-present Met). You have no way of knowing for sure what her input will do to the game; as I said, the groundwork for the game seems to have existed before the Kickstarter, and I doubt Inafune and Co. will change it based on a single person’s input.

As in, ‘multiple people working together as a team to design the game’.

Even if — IF — she has a job as part of the design team (and nothing so far outside of those screenshots suggests she does), how does a single woman getting onto the design team suddenly change THE ENTIRE COURSE OF THE GAME’S DESIGN? What makes you think she wants to change the entire game around to ‘strike a blow for feminism’ (aside from the fanart she drew)? And what makes you think she alone could change the course of a game design that, as I’ve said before, already had its groundwork laid well before she even made it onto the team (again, IF she’s on the team)?

And even if she IS a designer - oh my god, who cares. The Kickstarter page says "an all-star team of veteran Mega Man devs" which to everyone not playing pedantic literalist for the sake of masking an uglier attitude (wimminz, etc) means 'a team containing veteran Mega Man devs', not 'a team of NOTHING BUT VETERAN MEGA MAN DEVS'.

Look, would it be nice if everyone hired by the developers had a nostalgia boner for the Blue Bomber? Sure! But maybe the developers want to inject some fresh ideas other than a new main character design into the "backbone" of Mega Man, and hiring people with little-to-no experience with the MM franchise could allow for fresh perspectives on that "backbone" -- any (or none) of which could produce new directions in which M#9 could go in order to differentiate itself from Mega Man.

That's what this feels like to me, people getting mad at someone just because they don't know every historical in and out.

The reasons people (myself included) don’t like Dina are:

- Her artwork doesn’t fit with the Megaman style. This is an issue as she IS a designer on the team and has confirmed this twice on her Twitter (go check if you think I’m lying.

- Her lack of experience with Megaman is concerning. Considering she’s both a designer AND is in charge of interaction with a fanbase she’s not in touch with (due to lack of experience in MM), this is a problem.

- Her Twitter suggests she was hired solely because of interpersonal relations. Personally, I don’t have a problem with this because, even though it’s unfair, it’s pretty much how the job industry works.

- People (especially backers) are concerned with letting an amateur design their game. I share this concern. The backers were promised work by professionals. Seasoned designers of the Megaman franchise. Not some sjw (I’ll get into this in a sec).

- She deleted all her Tweets that suggested she was unfamiliar with the MM franchise. Why do this if you have nothing to hide? She also claimed that Megaman X was the best megaman game ever. How can you can claim this despite being unfamiliar with the series? This little blip has led a lot of the backers, and rightfully so, to brand her a liar.

-There is no proof of her qualifications at the time of this post.

-Her tweets suggests she’s into a lot of Social justice antics. Now while this isn’t direct evidence that the game or her designs will be terrible (though, I’ll admit I think her artwork is very tacky and ugly looking), I do understand the concern people have with this. Many games have suffered from just being an outlet for leftist(ish) propaganda (see: Borderlands 2 and Mass Effect 3) due to developers needlessly forcing their agendas into them. Social justice types seem to be using videogames as a facet for political correctness lately so the panic is understandable. People don’t want to see the game THEY invested money in to turn to shit.

- Lastly, let’s cover the strawmans. The fact that Dina is female has little to do with the backlash she’s getting. The reasons above are responsible. If the reason was that simple, the lady who produces music would ALSO be under backlash. But why isn’t she? Because she’s a professional, megaman veteran who produces quality work.

-Dina’s idea of a genderswap regarding beck also has little to do with the backlash. Though the idea seems rather pointless (they’re robots afterall), the reasons mentioned above are the main culprits.

People who resort to "you just don’t like her cos she’s a girl" and “a genderswap is fine, what’s the big deal?” arguments are strawmanning and derailing from the actual issue at hand.

Yessir, no obvious deflection going on here.

>If the reason was that simple, the lady who produces music would ALSO be under backlash. But why isn’t she?

This has come up a few times in the thread already so I'll just put this bit of absurdity to rest: the composer already has cachet because of her work on the megaman games. She isn't being subjected to the gauntlet of 'prove you're a real nerd girl' bullshit Tiki is correctly pointing out here, because she's already part of the in-crowd.

The hysteria, the hyperbole, the ludicrous leaps of logic all scream out a bunch of men giving themselves the vapors because an icky girl is touching something precious to them and they're worried that it will be RUINED FOREVER. They may not even be consciously conceiving of it that way - the mind has tremendous powers of self-rationalization - but it just drips off of every post.

>Her artwork doesn’t fit with the Megaman style.

Good, because this isn't a Mega Man game.

>Her lack of experience with Megaman is concerning. Considering she’s both a designer AND is in charge of interaction with a fanbase she’s not in touch with (due to lack of experience in MM), this is a problem.

That would be concerning if this were a Mega Man game. But it's not. It's a spiritual successor to Mega Man, granted, but that doesn't make it the same as Mega Man. Her lack of experience with the MM franchise shouldn't preclude her from doing her job if she's qualified for it.

>People (especially backers) are concerned with letting an amateur design their game. [...] The backers were promised work by professionals. Seasoned designers of the Megaman franchise.

1.) A donation to Kickstarter makes you an investor to a project, but it does not entitle you to complete control of the final product, no matter how much goddamn money you put into the project.
2.) As pointed out above, M#9 donators were promised a team filled with Mega Man vets. That doesn't necessarily mean the team would ONLY be filled with Mega Man vets, just that those vets would be part of the team (and they are).

>She deleted all her Tweets that suggested she was unfamiliar with the MM franchise. Why do this if you have nothing to hide?

Maybe she got tired of people shittalking/harassing her for it.

>There is no proof of her qualifications at the time of this post.

And, likewise, there's little to no proof that the developers brought her on as a designer OR that she's somehow influencing the entire development team in a way that allows her "agenda" to slip into the game.

>Her tweets suggests she’s into a lot of Social justice antics.

So the fuck what? She can both believe in feminism and refuse to make it part of her creative work. So what if she linked to Anita Sarkeesian or said the word "feminism" a few times? That doesn't mean her mere presence will turn M#9 into a ZOMG FEMINIST HEAVEN NO MEN IN SIGHT game, nor that she even wants to do that beyond expressing a desire to MAYBE make Call more than a helper/background character in the game.

>Many games have suffered from just being an outlet for leftist(ish) propaganda (see: Borderlands 2 and Mass Effect 3) due to developers needlessly forcing their agendas into them.

So, right-wing propaganda should get a pass when developers force those agendas into games?

>Social justice types seem to be using videogames as a facet for political correctness lately so the panic is understandable.

Oh noes! Evil Social Justice Warriyahs are trying to keep people from treating gender, racial, and sexual minorities like shit by changing culture into something less "friendly" to the majority! QUICK, TO THE MANMOBILE; WE'LL SET THEIR SHIT STRAIGHT.

>The fact that Dina is female has little to do with the backlash she’s getting.

Bull. Fucking. Shit. If this was a man in her position, he'd get maybe a fraction of the overall hate being slung her way. A good chunk of this horseshit overreaction is due to her gender.

>Dina’s idea of a genderswap regarding beck also has little to do with the backlash.

Yeah, that's why people continue to bring up her fan art as part of the argument -- because it has nothing to do with why people are pissed at her.

Borderlands and Mass Effect suffered from being terrible games before anything else. In the case of Mass Effect, the "agendas" were just EA's excuse they hid behind when people said "yo these games are awful," EA just said "YOU'RE ALL HOMOPHOBES THAT'S WHY YOU HATE THE GAME." On here, I recall dear old Dan Bicker being particularly (and rightly) pissed about that particular tactic.

We've seen basically nothing about MN9 as an actual game, so this entire argument is a bunch of nonsense internet drama with absolutely no relevance to this thread because it almost certainly will not reflect on the game in any way. This is just the same SJW/anti-SJW bullshit that takes over otherwise perfectly good threads around here, like the Gunnerkrigg one.

It's funny how the people who complain the most about tumblr and SJWs are the ones who work the hardest to turn every other site on the internet into Tumblr by bringing their fights from Tumblr elsewhere.

What it mostly smacks of is that they don't get enough validation on Tumblr, so they try to find other communities where their opinions will be validated the way the SJW's opinions are validated on Tumblr. But to anyone watching from the outside, it is extraordinarily clear: SJWs and Anti-SJWs are exactly the same goddamned people in every way except for which "Tribe" they belong to. This whole thing is nothing but a goddamned clique war between teenagers, and the fact that we are even engaging them as though they were rational adults with opinions that matter is absolutely terrible.

> Her artwork doesn’t fit with the Megaman style. This is an issue as she IS a designer on the team and has confirmed this twice on her Twitter (go check if you think I’m lying.
Having a preferred art style doesn't mean your inflexible. Also several jobs which would fall under "designer" would have someone critiquing and reinterpreting any content you produce.

- Her lack of experience with Megaman is concerning. Considering she’s both a designer AND is in charge of interaction with a fanbase she’s not in touch with (due to lack of experience in MM), this is a problem.

>Considering she said she played several of the games in the wake of the job becoming a possibility. Which is pretty much the best road of action for someone getting a job like this. You can't put "I liked this since I was a kid" as a hiring priority. Seriously, she now has experience with the brand. When she got it is immaterial. The VAST minority of PR people ever have personal experience with brands before working on them.

> Her Twitter suggests she was hired solely because of interpersonal relations. Personally, I don’t have a problem with this because, even though it’s unfair, it’s pretty much how the job industry works.

Her twitter just says she knows people in the company and is dating someone in the company. I don't get "solely" from that. Most people wouldn't either unless her boyfriend turns out to be one of the people who hired her. Which is not proven or unproven.

> People (especially backers) are concerned with letting an amateur design their game. I share this concern. The backers were promised work by professionals. Seasoned designers of the Megaman franchise. Not some sjw (I’ll get into this in a sec).

All the veteran designers are still there.

She's being harassed over them. People are asking her to loose her JOB over them. Of COURSE she's deleting them.

>There is no proof of her qualifications at the time of this post.

So? She was hired by the company and you have to assume they gave her an interview and hired her on her experience until proven otherwise. Her direct behavior in her role so far doesn't betray incompetence so far, just an aversion to abuse.

>Her tweets suggests she’s into a lot of Social justice antics. Now while this isn’t direct evidence that the game or her designs will be terrible (though, I’ll admit I think her artwork is very tacky and ugly looking), I do understand the concern people have with this. But even if she didn't, that isn't necessarily a huge strike against her; as I said, "Community Manager" and the like are akin to tier 1 support at any company, where they have a basic script and convey information back and forth if something falls outside of their realm. To be a good one you need to be able to A) separate yourself from the myriad of insults you're sure to get (not even for this specific situation, just in general; gamers can be a very mean group) and B) separate the vitriol and wild ideas from good suggestions and feedback to pass on to your superiors for consideration. The task of B could be greatly improved by having heavy experience with the product (recognizing large wild ideas are easy, but the small ones aren't if you're not familiar) but is a bonus, not a requirement. At the very least, she seems to do A well and take things on the chin while being polite in response, even if the response doesn't quell the anger of everyone.

People who whine about SJWs don't really give a shit about the actual fight for equality. >>183699 kinda hit the nail on the head about this sort of shit: it comes down to a bunch of manchildren whining about how the Evil Social Justice Warriyahs have come to take away Everything Cool About Gaming and replace it with Feelings And Hormones And Hugging And FUCKING COOTIES, MAN. It's a form of tribalism, only their tribe has a few million assholes running about.

In reality, these privileged assholes see women moving into Their (supposed) Territory and starting to make Feminist Propaganda (i.e. games with women in lead roles that don't play to the usual male-oriented appeal), so they do this whole rigamarole about ZOMG FEMINISTS WANT TO TAKE GAMES FROM US and WHERE'S THE SAFE ZONE FOR MEN and WHY CAN'T WE STARE AT LARA CROFT'S BOOBS ANY MORE YOU CUNTS without realizing how this makes them sound entitled, sexist, misogynistic, and...well, pretty much like assholes.

They see games as one of the last "dominions" which women haven't "conquered" and "infected" with feminism (the actual "we want equality for both genders" feminism and not the capital-F "WE WANT YOUR BALLS AND YOUR MONEY AND YOUR WORLD" Feminism). They even believe this despite the fact that the vast majority of lawmakers, corporate CEOs, and general Head Assholes In Charge are men. They see a world where women's rights have become "more important" than men's rights, and they hate it. They don't want to have to think about women's healthcare and changing their behavior to "make women comfortable" and all that "feminazi bullshit", so they lash out -- only they disguise their lashing out as "protecting men's rights" or by using a veil of excuses ("this isn't about her being a woman, this is about her doing a bad job") to explain why they're harassing a woman in a situation where they'd never harass a man for doing the exact same thing.

It's not that they necessarily don't want women working on games -- they just don't want them doing "the important stuff" (i.e. the writing, the directing, and the designing). Note how nobody seems to have any issue with the woman doing the music for M#9, but the moment this woman got her Community Manager role, a massive witch-hunt ensued to find "dirt" on her to discredit her.

Like I said, she has to go through heavy review, and even if she wants to shoehorn in a SJ character, it would be cut, toned, and reworked to fit with the actual concepts of the game by the leads. Hell, her work could even be flat out rejected.

I have no fears or worries about this at all. She's clearly a talented enough artist. If she can be used to help the game under the actual directors direction, so be it.

You are harassing someone. Even if she weren't on the team, they would be justified in cleaning that up. It's not censorship.

Maybe some legitimate issues are being lost in the sweep. But you know what? That's one of the problems with harassing people. It makes legitimate complaints get lumped in with the harassment and completely ignored. If you people were capable of making arguments WITHOUT acting like spoiled brats when you do it, then your complaints might get heard--but you have thrown in your lot with people who have zero credibility, and you are now subject to Guilt By Association.

You want your complaints taken seriously? Stop making them part of a crusade. Stop making them part of someone else's drama. Stop treating it like a goddamned culture war. And most of all, stop targetting individuals and harassing them about it. You lose all credibility when you make things personal--and hell, you're lucky that it's too much trouble to track you all down, because the strategies you employ to assassinate people's character this way meet every goddamned criteria it needs to to count as conspiracy to commit stalking and assault.

If you have a specific complaint about something wrong with the game, you should mention it. But when you try to bring this sort of retarded Tumblr bullshit into it, you have willingly forfeited your right to be taken seriously. Your opinion is meaningless, and your concerns are meaningless, because you have demonstrated yourself to be a reactionary douchebag.

But really, the impact of the fanbase will be marginal at most regardless. I was part of the FFXIV forums after 1.0 flopped and you know what impact we had? A few polls with loaded questions, and the opportunity to change the dye system to pure aesthetic instead of having the colors change the stats. That's pretty much it. The devs did everything else regardless of our concerns. Now I'm not saying this will be the same case, but if people didn't trust the team enough to make the game right, they shouldn't have paid them in the first place.

I can see her stepping down from the customer relation position due to the stupid drama surrounding this, but that's it.

You could show me PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE of this woman kicking puppies, and I would still assume she was in the right if she said so simply because she has more credibility than you do.

You need to learn not to shoot yourself in the foot in arguments like these by behaving like spoiled children. Until you do, your arguments will never be taken as anything but a bunch of whiny bitches bullying a private citizen over some inane bullshit, except by like-minded whiny bullies.

Trashing all of Comcept's good will because people don't like a forum mod is honestly sort of hilarious. It's all the terrible things people have been saying about the Mega Man fandom and more.

Has there actually been anything announced on the game since the Kickstarter ended anyway? Seems like it's still the exact same thing as then.

Yeah, they actually just had an email out to backers about some of their progress, and plan to do about three a month about them--in dates ending in 9.

Latest news is they're doing one last vote to determine which of the designs for Call will be the final one.

Did they narrow it down any further than what they were showing during the kickstarter campaign yet?

Yeah, I think they pared it down to about two or three choices last round, and now they're about to pick the final from those. But they haven't put up the list yet.

Now that post was just brimming with privilege. A community manager, who ignores the questions of the community she represents has more credibility than the members of that group, who apparently don't have any credibility themselves. Sure they helped fund the endeavor, they have outright evidence of her double speak and qualities that could be detrimental to the project, but according to you, they have zero credibility. The backers of the game, those whose input that Inafune aims to incorporate into the product, have no credibility, again, according to you.

That has to be the most asinine thing you've ever written, it probably sounded all just and eloquent in your head, but how are you even measuring credibility? By how much of a little sycophant you are?

Not community members in general. Just the Tumblr Crusaders like you.

If you were any less self-aware, you'd be failing mirror tests. Holy shit why would you even want to share a post of the community being such dicks like it's some sort of trophy for the cause

>>183758
I do recall that from the e-mails. I didn't remember any new content or changed content besides the Call polls though. It'll be nice to check in once in a while and see some new shit, but I figure I wouldn't want to know the whole game beforehand.

So anyone that doesn't agree with you has no credibility?

>>183762
The dicks are the mods who won't answer questions, edit and censor those questions, and then ban whoever asks them. As well as the kneejerk SJWs that conveniently ignore the points of nepotism, unfamiliarity and dishonesty against Dina. Transparency, that's what the people you're vilifying want as well as comprehensive representation.

Does he seriously think there's such thing as proper PR training? Next to game testing, its the lowest ranked position in the industry. There is no real training, they just throw you in with a set of rules and say "good luck".

No. You lack credibility because you have no solid ground for your argument.

It doesn't matter if its a guy or a gal, people are upset that its someone unfamiliar with the series and came up with an idea for a pointless change not in line with the original intent. I get that. However, there are some things to keep in mind:

1. She is not in a position of any real power. I've already explained this, but the art leads will be basically controlling her skill to fit the needs of the project. Not the other way around.
2. Being a community manager means nothing more than keeping people up to date. Providing answers to questions by relaying them to the developers and responding with a translations for the community. No effect on the game at all. That's for the leads to direct, not her, not the fans outside of a few polls decided by the leads.
3. The reactions from both sides "She's a pathological liar! Not to be trusted!" " You don't like her because she's a girl!" are childish and paranoid. They do nothing but make this molehill even more Everest like.

The new argument against this woman is IF I CAN'T ENJOY THIS GAME, THAN NO ONE WILL. It's the only reason why they keep fighting a lost cause. They made personal attacks to her, and by taking the low road they got banned. It's not fucking rocket science to anyone who isn't a tiny dicked purist nerd.

"NO, YOU NEVER PLAYED MEGAMAN BEFORE, THUS YOU CAN'T LEARN WHAT WAS GOOD OUT OF THIS COMPLETELY NEW FRANCHISE. THIS GAME IS ONLY FOR TRUE NERDS LIKE ME!"

Shit, its almost like this entire artificial fight was set up by Capcom to destroy the game. People can't just enjoy video games anymore, all they apparently need is to keep their pillow fort up and hate something.

I'm done sticking up for Mega Man fans after tonight. This crap is disgraceful.
