Is Dragon Age: Origins: Ultimate Edition a good deal for $9? I know that II was pretty shit, but I've heard plenty of good things about the first.

It doesn't look like they're doing the 48 hour overlap thing this time. The ticker says "remaining", which makes me believe that at noon tomorrow they'll switch to the new set and the old will completely go away. Too bad, I liked that.

Also, I'm not sure if I like this Sale layout. It's very crisp and well-done, but there are 0 minions. Not even one flying a plane. It's missing some of the fun from prior sales.

Also I think the list of deals takes up far more space, so it's harder to at-a-glance it.

There you go. All the flash sales are at least 75% off.

Also, Bastion is once again 85% off as part of that. If someone out there hasn't picked up Bastion yet, and enjoys action games, I cannot recommend this more. For $2.25, it's a steal.

Dark Souls is one of the best videogames ever made. No exaggeration. And the mods available for it make the PC version the objectively best version. There's some beautiful texture work that simply can't be done justice at 720p. That said, you also need those mods to make it playable at all and be aware that the online community on PC is the worst of all by a fucking landslide. I strongly advise you to enable save backups. Hackers can permanently fuck up your game.

Witcher 2 is definitely the better game. However Witcher 1 has some really nice world-building and amazing atmosphere. It's a lot more moody and low key. It's the reason why some people prefer it to TW2 despite it having absolutely abysmal combat. Also the music is fucking phenomenal.

I can't wrap my head around this. I played some games to earn trading cards, sold the cards at market price instantly, and used that money to buy TWO real games that were on sale. And one of them was big budget console title. I'm buying games with imaginary money. I'm not even close to getting all the trading cards I can get.

How does anyone make real money from this?!
>> No. 177827
>>177826
I don't know that any individuals make any money off of this. Since everyone knows the most recent sale prices, and everyone wants to get their money ASAP, it trends all prices towards 0 since there is potentially infinite supply. Some people might make money off of hats.

I find it great for selling a card so I can turn around and buy a different card, but it's usually a few cents between those.

The only items you can make serious cash off of are rare (something like the holofoil cards) or something that manages to actually have low supply and high demand (like some of the cards when they were first released, perhaps the first hour or two.)

It's a narrative and artistic tour de force with gameplay that, although competently designed and executed, doesn't fit at all.

Basically imagine Arkham Asylum/City, the game design of which it apes shamelessly, but instead of playing as Batman you're playing as a terrified college student who eventually becomes Batman. But you still control as Batman from beginning to end.

That said it is really good and you should play it, especially at a discount like that.

Torchlight II $5? Poke Night 2 $2.50? My wallet has become sentient and now opens of its own accord.

I also bought You Need a Budget 4 this morning for $15, because I needed new software for personal finance and I've heard good things.

Also, I've earned 9/10 cards but got three dupes; I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the remainders now, while they're still a quarter, or wait until the end of the sale when the price may increase slightly (and will greatly after the sale is over.) Speaking of, is 10 days a long time for a Steam Sale? I recall most of their sales being 5-6 days. (Not that I'm complaining, more time for amazing deals.)

Crafting badges, as Mesias said. If you've partaken in past sales/events, those are now badges as well, and so is the amount of games you own through Steam, so you should have something unless you're brand new to Steam.

If you haven't already, work on the parts of the Community Achievement badge, as the full badge nets you 300XP, which is three levels (if you're still <Lvl10).

>>177891
Looks like they stick around:

>Will I be able to craft the Summer Getaway badge after the sale?
>Yes, you’ll be able to collect the cards and craft the badge after the sale, but only with cards that have already dropped. When the sale ends, there will be no new Summer Getaway card drops.
So, collect and sell. Might even spend $5 on the second-to-last day to buy up cards @ 30c/ea and turn around to sell them for $2-3/pop when the price rises after a few months. It will actually be the first proper case of supply/demand when it comes to Steam Trading Cards.

...Heh, if they do this with every sale I could use this business plan to fund my purchases for each following sale. Free games forever!

>Is this game that amazing
YES!
>frustrating,
Yes. And no. The game expects you to read its menus. NPCs have more than one monologue and provide vital information, it doesn't get shoved down your throat until you get it with quest markers and cut scenes. You need to carefully observe your environment at all times. It teaches you through opposition, not through guiding your hand. Basically, you have to unlearn everything you learned about videogames. That's why it's so frustrating to many people, because they just can't get it into their heads. Depending on how deeply ingrained that shit is in your conscience, the game can be quite a bitch.
>more or less elder scrolls-ish
Not even in the slightest. Elder Scrolls is more of a Fantasy Sim. Dark Souls is an incredibly atmospheric non-linear dungeon crawler. Also, Elder Scrolls combat is completely rubbish, while Dark Souls combat is pretty much the best combat I've ever experienced in a videogame. And I've played through DMC4 several times.
