I like Dan so far, he seems to be following up on Jon as the more excitable and childish of the duo, except his vibe is less "spoiled brat" and more "flighty manchild". On the one hand it means he's more likely to stay on topic and not complain for stupid reasons. On the other hand the mock tantrums were one of the funniest things about Jon both on GG and his own channel.

Ross on the other hand is pretty fucking insufferable. Although I'm not sure how much of it is specifically his fault and how much of it is other reasons like the format of Steam Train or the lack of chemistry between the two.

To me, it's sort of like Jon & Arin were the UK Top Gear, while I'm worried Ross & Dan are becoming the American Top Gear.

The UK one is a car show, they both are, but a lot of the viewership comes from people who are completely disinterested in cars, who just like the chemistry from the three hosts, and how funny they all are, how they work off each other so well. Meanwhile, the American equivalent is a straightforward car show with three random guys who have no chemistry, and aren't funny as a result.

Pretty much this. While Dan's not as terrible as I was afraid he would be he stills sounds like he's trying too hard to be a second Jon. Jon can get away with it because he has just the right set of vocal cords and delivery that he can act like an idiot and still be funny at the same time. Jon's thing isn't just that he's a screaming retard, it's that he's actually doing emotional comedy similar to a lot of other youtube people (think Africanob0i). The humor is in the over-reaction. Egoraptor was always the strait guy but it kind of relied both on Jon's and Ego's charm and a certain amount of star power they both carried. I don't mind the new guy but he's less of a comedic foil the way Jon was for Arin. He isn't that much different from Arin in terms of where they're coming from or how they react to things.

TBF also seems to have a one up in that they all seem to be playtesters, and actually contribute some interesting knowledge about the game they're playing, even if it's amidst scads of bad jokes and personal insults. Jon and Arin lack that inside lowdown, being only outside commentators. One of my biggest gripes with Game Grumps originally was that neither Jon nor Arin could point out technical or design flaws in a game or talk about why something was really bad. TBF actually kind of do this, even if they're not really exhaustive for most of these games.

Okay so I watched all of Steam Train to try and give it a fair chance, Ross is so fucking forced in everything he says and does I can't stand it.

Dan is actually pretty great though now that he's feeling freer to talk about what he enjoys like Sports and put on less airs.

I think the directions they've tried to go have worked very hard against Ross and very hard for Danny though, for instance Grumps have been non-stop Danny's favorites since he jumped on the show, Ross meanwhile, due the very nature of Steam Train is working with games he's never played and...despite buying doesn't really give a shit about and really leeches through and adds to how fucking terrible I find him compared to Danny who is honestly eager to talk about his enthusiasm like Sports despite that clashing with Ross and Arin.

In short Dan found his footing, Grumps sans intro is great.

Steam Train feels like you put a gun to Ross and Dan's head and told them "BE GAME GRUMPS EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE TO FAKE THE SHIT OUT OF IT and their intro is actually great."

So, a Deadly Premonition DC Post Mortem then:
-I love how, of the two GB runs and the TBF run, all three of them thought the bee would have Kaysen's face
-Matt didn't bring up the Willie is Kaysen's boss thing, though he may not know
-Pat exaggerates how much of DP is actually from Twin Peaks. A lot of it is there yes but there's no really parallels left by the end game except for the Red Room stuff, and even that's tenuous. Of course Twin Peaks doesn't have an actual ending so it's all moot anyway.
-In one way I am somewhat disappointed by the Director's Cut. In the end all it seems to have added was a few cutscenes and basically neutering the combat (though that is a very good thing). The way SWERY had been talking about it, I expected real changes, like a proper map, redone graphics, better notification for sidequests (NONE of the blind runs realize that Michael's exists because how would you ever figure that out). On the other hand, I'm... kind of glad that it's mostly just Deadly Premonition, warts and all.
-I'm very sad that TBF didn't do more of the side content and just blundered into the endgame, though one of DP's bigger issues is that it doesn't really warn you about the end game. I guess chapter select is supposed to deal with that though.

There's actually a completely insane amount of foreshadowing. As Matt and Pat actually noticed where Giant Bomb didn't, every person's car has a license plate that says something about them, the craziest being George's "HESTHE1" and Kaysen's being "RED2REE." There's also lots of other little things, like the Red Room at the very start of the game having the Kaysen doll, the fact that George's house is the only house you can't peek into it, and of course the locations of the red trees around the town.

Now of course there's also all that business with the tree demons and what not but hey, Twin Peaks. What DOESN'T get explained in the game is why Greenvale is laid out in the pattern of a dog (specifically Willie, as SWERY says) or Willie's whole thing as the one giving Kaysen orders from the Red Tree (ALSO something SWERY said) but ~Deadly Premonition~

Whatever SWERY's next game turns out to be, I hope it reaches half the bullshit levels of Deadly Premonition.

Incidentally I am not saying that Joel isn't sympathetic or indeed that the writing here is bad. He IS a monster but his reasons are wholly sympathetic and understandable, and his actions are consistent with the character we've been given. And frankly I think the ending shows that even he realizes that what he did was terrible, and perhaps even that Marlene was right about Elli being willing to do beat the plague.

I think the way the game frames it is setup so that we're intended to assume that yes, they can make a cure and it would work/be used.

Really I think that Last of Us is a pretty well polished game despite being of a very standard structure and type. It's EASILY the best thing Naughty Dog has made in years, possible ever, and the mere fact that there are these kinds of debate over the ending, which I'm pretty sure was the intended response, shows how well done it is.

One question I rarely see brought though: DID Ellie know that she would have to die so they could operate on her mutation? On the other hand, one of the notes in the hospital states Ellie's case is different from the rest.

Now done with replying, I wanna bring up Yogscast, specifically Lewis and Simons' channel's decision to disable comments. I think it's a fine idea since YouTube comment sections are worse than Yahoo!
