>Bio
Isaac is an archaeologist who has made unsettling discoveries below the Canopy Kingdom, only to have the evidence buried. Now hunted, Isaac has been literally buying time using shards of a unique type of Theonite he discovered in his search. The one other person who knows about the dig has been wrongfully imprisoned, but learning the truth would put her in greater danger.

>Playstyle Speculation
Isaac’s time travel mechanics aren’t your standard slow/stop fare. For example, a double of Isaac could instantly appear from the future for a lunging punch, and a countdown begins above Isaac’s head. When the countdown reaches zero, Isaac pauses and prepares to travel back in time to deliver the punch. If he is hit during the preparation, the opponent regains any damage they took from the punch since it never happened. If his double is hit during the punch, Isaac himself takes damage when the countdown reaches zero.

Isaac may also have other time related attacks, such as the ability to convert successful special attacks into supers in the past after noticing they connected. He could possibly manipulate the timer, namely knocking off a few seconds to hasten that time-out.

>Bio
Venus is the Trinity’s restless goddess of space, wielder of the otherworldly parasite, Abaddon. She grows tired of waiting for Mother’s plan and calls upon her unwilling foothold on the outside in a small act of rebellion. Her physical form is deceptive, as the true nature and size of Venus and Abaddon exist beyond the threshold of human comprehension.

>Playstyle Speculation
The lady is only the central part of a much larger creature. If the rest of her is visible, the observer has already been engulfed. There is no safe place when fighting her as the very fabric of the universe unravels into mouths, claws, and locusts devouring her prey’s flesh from every angle.

Venus’s own body tantalizingly distorts to reveal monstrous elements. Body parts bloom from seemingly nowhere, sometimes releasing swarms of locusts to assault opponents from every angle. She can open holes in space, move and teleport in unexpected ways, or even distort the playfield itself. Even her own attacks may be displaced and modified.

Reality bites.

171284
>Bio
Molly is the Black Egrets' gung-ho communications officer. While her main job is keeping her team connected, Roxie has continually added features to her field telephone equipment and they are now classified as a weapons system. Though not the kind of information warfare Molly had in mind, she handles the array with her usual finesse and enthusiasm.

>Playstyle Speculation
Many of her attacks would be phone themed. Phone rotaries, bells, wires, needles, cans on strings- anything phone themed is fair game. She’d use an office chair and assorted machinery to move around. Despite the image in the lineup, she may pilot Graham-o-Tron, a phone-themed mecha instead. Maybe she can dial-a-combo... interpret that as you will, the pun had to be made.

To reflect her profession, Molly might have the ability to place a series of relay points on the screen, sending an electrical pulse through them. If she switches the points while the pulse is en route, she can keep it going through a series of connections.
In the spirit of switchboard operators assisting soldiers on the field, she could have supportive abilities that give her team bonuses when she’s not on point. For example, she might allow her teammates to gain more meter, heal red life faster, or experience shorter hitstun or blockstun in specific cases. She may even have attacks and supers that can only be performed when she’s not the active character like an air strike, medevac, supply drop, or a damage boost during the point character’s supers.

171286
>Bio
Adam is a Jack-of-all-trades elite soldier of the Black Egrets. Unfortunately, this does not help him stand out among the team. Being good with kids as well, he is also often tasked with babysitting Umbrella. Will he ever get the chance to prove himself to Princess Parasoul?

>Playstyle Speculation
Adam would represent the Black Egret soldiers as a playable group. Their lifebar would be divided into thirds, with each third representing an Egret. Whenever a segment is depleted, that character faints and the next one joins the fray. The first two are faceless Egrets, and the last is Adam himself.

Since in reality Adam is a talented soldier, he would have access to moves that the other two Egrets lack, giving the group some last-ditch power. However, the group would also have techniques that require more soldiers alive, such as sacrificing one of them for a damage or a buff to the next one, or ganging up on the opponent.

In addition to attacks similar to what the Egrets do while assisting Parasoul, Adam is skilled at a variety of other military weapons ranging from close combat to assorted guns, grenades, and bazookas. He might have some sort of ammo meter that he’d need to reload for certain attacks.

>Bio
Beowulf retired at the height of his professional wrestling career, defeating the seemingly unstoppable Grendel, as well as his frenzied Gigan mom when she nearly ate the audience after her son’s defeat. Years later Beowulf has become restless, wondering if that was his limit. He announces his plans to fight once again. What he didn’t mention was that it wouldn’t be in the ring, since there’s no telling where his greatest opponent will show up.

>Playstyle Speculation
Classic pro wrestling, including violence with his favorite folding chair. Dubbed The Hurting, the legendary piece of furniture could supposedly support a Gigan if one could fit on it.

Beowulf can set his chair on the stage for various effects. He can knock opponents into it, do elevated slams off of it, or just stand on it as a platform to alter the height of his ground attacks. It could also be like Captain America’s shield in that he can throw it, but it needs to be recovered to be used again. In addition to standard pro-wrestling moves like dropkicks and powerbombs, souvenirs from past victories may aid him in battle - after all, it’s only illegal if there’s a referee.

>Bio
A celebrity diva known for her charity, Eliza has been a host to the skeletal Parasite Sekhmet for countless years, completely internal and hidden from everyone. In reality, Eliza’s charity blood drives primarily serve to feed Sekhmet and preserve her own beauty. When the Medicis found out, they blackmailed Eliza and forced her to use her vampiric abilities for their own purposes. Now forced into the pursuit for the Skull Heart, an ancient ambition stirs... one that Samson and Leviathan are all too familiar with.

>Playstyle Speculation
The ultimate attack-from-disadvantage character. Because of her kinship with her parasite, Eliza can control her own blood. Each time she is hit she bleeds, MK style, and the blood stays on the stage. Certain specials and supers can then use it.

Eliza will probably have two modes: one where Sekhmet is inside Eliza’s body, with slow, powerful attacks; and another where Eliza anchors herself onto the Staff of Ra and Sekhmet herself becomes a faster, more mobile character with new abilities.

>Bio
Lab 7's only successful psychic experiment, most of Brain Drain's body was destroyed in the disaster which consumed the facility. The experience left him doubtful of human reliability, so as far as he is concerned anybody who falls short of his expectations is to be replaced. Because of this ruthless approach, he soon became the widely-feared second-in-command of Lab 0. An expert at analyzing others, he even believes he can construct superior mechanical replicas.

>Playstyle Speculation
Brain Drain is calm, cool, sophisticated, and incredibly arrogant. With his strong psychic abilities and robotic body, he is able to glide around with the greatest of ease. The extending needles on his fingers and head are used to read someone’s mind, alter their memories, or even control their body. His snapback attack may possess the enemy player as he takes over their body and forces them to fight their own team members. He’s also able to attack with various psychic beams from his head. He might have some sort of ability where he analyzes and deconstructs an enemy’s attack, customizing a part of his move-list and projecting it back in holographic format.

>Bio
This Dagonian scientist prefers to fade into the background at work, not that he is always successful. Stanley originally helped develop weapons in the now defunct Lab 4, but following the surprise attack on Lab 8 it became clear the ASG needs all the (fish)manpower it can afford. He brings his previous inventions out of storage to fight alongside the soldiers, because the ASG Labs know better than to have a shark without a frickin’ laser beam...

>Playstyle Speculation
Uses a variety of shark-themed attacks and high-tech weaponry. Shark Dive! Shark Knuckle! Science Upper! FEEDING FRENZY! Be sure to check your work.

In addition to shark themed attacks such as biting, diving, lunges, and even under-the-earth dives, Stanley would have a surprisingly solid boxing stance. He’s something of a sports nerd; a fan of boxing and hockey. He’d also use his advanced ASG arsenal from his Lab 4 days to his advantage. This could include various laser guns, missiles, or something akin to Iron Man’s Proton Cannon. He may even have laser skates or...a jetpack!

Ponies was a barrier I tried looking past way back when, and looking at the gameplay I wasn't very impressed with it. Then when I heard it started out as just a "fun little joke project, but then we wanted to make a serious fighter" I lost what little interest I had. I can respect wanting to make something more refined, but switching gears mid development like that and only late in the cycle deciding you want to be taken seriously rubs me the wrong way.

In any case maybe with the Z engine or whatever it's called it'll be a lot more interesting now that they're not bound by IP.

Personally I'm hoping for some western media influence on her because this game definitely needs some to cut all the weeaboo. Also hoping for obligatory eye lasers, chest rockets, and rocket punches.

Fighters aren't for everyone, but if you have friends around you sitting down and having a good fight can be pretty fun even if you both suck. Skullgirls (PS3 only right now) has a damn good tutorial if you're new to fighters.

Also on the streams this week we learned that the UI is getting a facelift and that with all this DLC (which will be free for a limited time) we'll be getting some patches to go with them. By the time this is all said and done, this might as well be Skullgirls 2.

The story is that when Skullgirls was in development someone wrote like two (awful) lines on their facebook wall about a terrible idea for a fan character that was a sniper.
On one of the whiteboard wendsdays they drew that character out as a joke.
Alex started liking the idea and then fleshed out the character and all of that making it really only similar to the original terrible concept in name and occupation.
Now he's either being difficult about letting them use something he only lightly influenced or something, so if it cant be resolved by monday she's out. Mike has said that Alex should just start designing another sniper character in Tuesdays stream saying: "Snipers die in action all the time right?"

Also here is my wish list (based on gameplay). If any of these characters make it in I will be quite delighted.

It's going to be an uphill battle to actually get an interesting (and viable) character in this game isn't it?

From what she reads and what they have said Annie plays like Sol (because we don't have enough Sol's running around in enough fighters right?) so that's a standard playstyle which we know at least works. While she doesn't bring any new gimmicks or play styles into the game she'll at least be viable.

Minette... well lets face it. From her description she's got a lot going on. power ups, summons, etc. That's a lot of work for a character that will most likely not see much play. She's cute though so people are going to vote for her. I can't see her being anything more than a throw away gimmick though like P. Wright in UMvC3 even if the team put their all behind her.

Panzerfaust sounds good to me if only because having another male character would help drive home the "point" the team wanted in the first place (reversed gender ratios), BUT more on point we don't really have a heavy hitting brute type character. If people are going to vote based on aesthetics on a fighting game archtypes not yet in Skullgirls, I would encourage Panzerfaust.

Stanley... seems to be quite popular and with what I've read about how he would play it's well deserved. He has boxing for CQC as well as super science for long range. This plus the "laser skates", burrowing, and jetpack ideas make me think Stanley could fill the roll of a much needed mid-range character who boasts some fun attacks and great movement options.

Molly's description sounds equally tantalizing, but for different reasons. She has a lot going on in terms of potential gimmicks, but it all fits well into the core game (in my opinion). First concept is that she is a switchboard operator and could drop beacons onto the field for lightning chain attacks, even adding new ones as it execute which could be some amazing board control. She also has a dial-a-combo concept which I feel would be at the least one "customizable"rekka chain and Mike is playing around with the idea of her having unique assist only moves and supers to help support her teammates like care packages, red life regen, or air strikes. Only thing that bothers me is that her proposed mech doesn't really seem to fit the Skullgirls world.

Eliza offers a Lucario(brawl) like "attack from a disadvantage" playstyle and also seems would be a stance character as well. This would be achieved by having her bleed when she gets hit, using the blood pools to power up or maybe perform different attacks. It sounds neat for spacing until you realize most damage is done in the corner...

As for my thoughts of the Fortune changes, they'll need to give her something more with her head on to let her get in. While I'm ok with the idea of players having to choose what "mode" they use to have a tactical advantage, the two sides need to have distinct advantages and disadvantages.
I also can't help but feel that Ms. Fortune being so good headless is more or less the result of Mike tweaking her that way as during the early playtests of the game, it was rare to see people play without her head.

Personally I think Peacock needs a look at and Ms. Fortune still needs a lot of attention while Painwheel could use some love too.

Initial picks were Beowulf, Isaac, Stanley, and Venus. All for gameplay reasons. Reflecting back however, none of them are really super unique (besides maybe Beowulf and Isaac), but would give players more variety in playstyle and archtypes.

The Backup string would be Panzerfaust, Brain Drain, and a character I have yet to decide.

I'm also now reflecting on this as the Magnum Opus of Skullgirls. We don't know if there will be more DLC, let alone a sequel so the characters added need to count and feel like they belong while offering new and exciting gameplay options. Admittedly none of my initial picks really hit that mark as I was primarily focused on gameplay alone rather than them feeling natural and looking like they belong aside the current cast, which Brain Drain Faust do quite nicely.

On this implied note of finality, I don't think someone like say Adam, Molly, or Minette would do the game justice as a send off; fun and popular though they may be.

This is a fighting game were the primary focus should always be on gameplay. Each character is supposed to bring something fresh to the table and improve the games longevity. If you're ignoring all of that and vote for a character simply because you find them aesthetically pleasing shouldn't be voting; it's the equivalent of voting for a politician just because you think he/she has a cool name, not even taking their platform into consideration.

Once more if that ill informed choice is selected everyone has to deal with it. From the loyalists to the people who are probably going to drop the game a week later once the novelty of their choice wears off and move on leaving everyone else to deal with it.
Normally this wouldn't be that big of a problem, but with over 40% of the voting public not thinking any further than the here and now (plus novelty value), the possibility of something like this happening becomes far greater and thus more alarming, and that irks me.

>Grumpy Umbrella will be canon in some way
>Brain Drain is basically evil, insofar as you can define evil; Alex compared him to a supervillain
>More on Andy's story: He and Tommy are trying to find the value of Peacock's stolen car, so they're searching for the legendary Blue Book a.k.a. Azure Grimoire
>Eliza would likely play a larger part in the sequel, but her role can be adapted for Skullgirls 1; it just means they have to be careful about what they reveal

Speaking of; got a good laugh at one of todays poll questions: "How happy are you with the results of the first poll?" While I (and I'm sure a few others) aren't 100% happy, it all comes down to who ends up taking it all. Personally I'm hoping Eliza or Annie.

So Mike re-re-re-submitted the patch time and time again this week and Konami finally gave one of them the go-ahead. Then sent one of the outdated versions they declined to Microsoft which then promptly declined it as well.

Then Alex answered a few questions on stream and Mike had a "sexy new build" for us. I don't have a summery of either of those however because I'm on the East Coast and I like sleeping before I have to get up for work.

A good pro player, though a bit of a jerk, who's recent achievement was perfecting Morridoom, the play style that you saw. Spam fireballs, use mirror image to double fireballs (that come from behind the opponent), and use Doom's assist to put even more shit into the air.

MvC3 before this usually was about massive chains of combos and waiting (or making) for an opportunity to carve up your opponent. Majority of ChrisG's wins come from chip damage killing his opponent through their guards. While this is indeed ridiculously effective, and will stay that way with no more patches coming through to fix it, it's the MvC3 equivalent of mustard gas. He does beat his opponent, but anyone who isn't a fan of his just leaves with a bad taste in their mouth.

Doesn't help that people who are his fans pretty much go "Well if it works so well, stop being so butthurt and use mustard gas/Morridoom back!" People are on the fence on whether or not this is the final nail in the coffin for MvC3, and are betting on Morridoom mirror matches at EVO.

P.S. he won this tournament with this Morridoom team; Taxi was the only one who beat him.

So I know lots of fighting game fans hate Smash Bros., but I figure this is relevant enough to be worth posting here.

Project M, an in-progress mod of Brawl that aims to balance the cast, make the physics feel more like Melee, and overall make the game more viable for competitive play, is introducing a new Special Mode in their next demo. Turbo Mode, as they call it, let's you cancel all moves on-hit into any other move. This allows for some pretty crazy combos, and imo looks like a lot of fun.

April Fools! - Turbo Mode Revealed!youtube thumb

The video is only titled April Fools because on that day they released this trailer pretending that on-hit cancelling would be incorporated into the standard game, instead of just being a special mode. And because of Pichu.

Haha sucks to be Adam, his two skills are being a first-rate soldier and being good with children so he gets sent to nanny the younger. I liked the concept for his fighting style though, how he represented the Egrets as a whole so his lifebar was split into thirds and the first two would be generics with him coming in after with extra attacks and abilities unavailable to the other troopers..

In retrospect though it makes sense these "torny kids" wouldn't be interested in this game. Think about it. It's a group of guys who all huddle around one another watching other dudes punch each other. The entire fighting game genre at its core is nothing more than another wish fulfillment outlet with a heaping helping of competition on top of it. It's BUILT for dick waving.

Now think about American football and the Lingerie League. One of these has an all male crew ramming into each other while competing to score points and is insanely popular. The other is the exact same thing except it features scantly clad women... and is substantially less popular.

If we're talking just aesthetics in regards to body builds; Squiggly isn't too different, she just has more ass and hips.

Hoping for Brain Drain or Panzerfaust.
And now an overly long essay no one will read and those that do will yell at me for it:

In regards to furthering the game by appealing to a wider audience, ensuring more players play for longer (while drawing new ones in) to either give Lab Zero some much deserved cash flow and a chance to make Skullgirls 2, or even continue existing as a company; they are going to need to cater to the market.

The market that is going to yield them the best results for this (in terms of both longevity, money, AND exposure) is a mixture of the tournament and "casual" crowd. And those groups are made of, quite simply put, spergs.

For this reason a male character needs to be the second vote character. Which I will explain below:

Now you might say that the game could survive without the aformentioned groups. After all, it has so far more or less. However the game is constantly at tournaments, but its current turn out is consistantly low, in part to the male gaze stigma (and not coming from a AAA dev). If you don't believe me, ask a torny kid what he things of Skullgirls and he will most likely say it's a ronry game for pervs. (the Skullgirls room at Evo 2012 was called the "f-----t room" by quite a lot of attendees)

Take a moment though and think about it. It's a group of guys who all huddle around one another watching other dudes punch each other and not having dudes cockslap other dudes breaks that illusion.

In this regard, one might think that targeting another audience would be a better idea as they most likely don't have the game, but are familiar with it. (Lets use Reddit/ Tumblr here because I love making the rest of the fgc mad). This audience will go absolutely apes--t if Stanley is voted in (Beowulf being a close second). Alex also admitted that Stanley is most likely the most aesthetically pleasing character to a "casual" audience. If that audience follows their character to the point where they actually put their money where there mouth is and buy the game though is anyone guess. These people however will most likely drop the game after a few weeks however and not give the team the consistant playerbase they need to keep furthering the game, however it will most likely bring in much needed revenue from impulse purchases.

This brings me to the last point. Hats. It's a known fact that a decent chunk of people pulled their donations when the hat was pulled from the reward tiers. Skullgirls is coming to Steam as we all know, and a majority of the people who have steam play TF2. Of that section there are quite a lot of hardcore dress up enthusiasts who just collect aesthetic items with fervor, and a limited edition, exclusive one will have them salivating. If we expand this concept to have a hat as a pre-order, purchase, or unlockable reward tied to Skullgirls on Steam you will get people buying the game just for that. Again generating revenue, but not a playerbase.

These things considered, the ideal situation for Skullgirls and Lab Zero to continue surviving is to vote in either Stanley or Beowulf who have massive followings on the internet and appeal to the tournament crowd by being males.
If the team can manag to coerce Valve into cooperating and approving of a Skullgirls themed TF2 item this will be the ideal scenario for Skullgirls and Lab Zero in the long run.
Just a theory.

First reading, I was strongly in disagreement.

Second reading, I was going "wait, his core point on male gaze is interesting and fairly valid-sounding."

Third reading, "Wait, he's saying therefore give the dudes a chance to play manly chars because it's already stuck with the dudebro crowd?"

A counterpoint: Skullgirls is a niche product which has succeeded on the basis of strong gameplay, character, and art design, as well as its unique identity and overall creative integrity. It has something to offer that other fighting games do not. People value that that and will fight for it, hence the massive outpouring of support.

The male gaze thing? A fair mark against the game. Skullgirls deserves alot of credit for having a full range of sexy to non-sexualized female characters (Peacock, Painwheel), but the "sexy" end of that spectrum is allowed to a couple steps further than some (including me) would have liked. But for the most part, that damage is done.

Overall, your arguments really, really remind me of people's doubts on whether the new Avatar show would have any viewers.
>“Some Nickelodeon executives were worried, says Konietzko, about backing an animated action show with a female lead character. Conventional TV wisdom has it that girls will watch shows about boys, but boys won’t watch shows about girls,” they write. “During test screenings, though, boys said they didn’t care that Korra was a girl. They just said she was awesome.”

My intention wasn't to present them as facts; rather it's a theory based on observations of these groups and how the game has been received by different entities.

Personally I love strong characters of any gender and I adore Skullgirls, however you have people on the opposite side of the fence (IE the torny kids) who just don't like playing as or relating to women in any capacity.
While I'm not saying that these people need to be catered to exclusivity (they don't), including a character that makes a game with a solid foundation more appealing to them might get some of these hardcore types in the camp; while appealing to the casual internet crowd as well increasing both revenue and hopefully developing a larger more stable playerbase.

I do want to say thanks for reading and taking the time to give me your thoughts on the subject rather than just flying into the usual "+1" or "gtfo fag" type posts I tend to get with this.
>> No. 173847

So put simply: You think there's a sizable demographic that would be more into skullgirls if it didn't require them to play a female character. Perhaps. I'd like to see numbers on large-scale tourney character selection correlating to matchup rankings & character gender.

But I think the audience will keep growing either way. Look at TF2. A pvp game with high capacity for skill & a one-time purchase fee receives continued support via free content updates. These updates actually make game in question significantly more profitable, because they sustain the existing player base and generate positive buzz- the game comes up in forum threads, people draw fanart and upload new youtube videos, friends & acquaintances see people getting hype. All of this drives new sales.

Sure, if your hope was for Lab Zero to maximize their revenue, then pandering to the mainstream's established tastes could still be the ideal strategy. But neither you nor Lab Zero wants that. What both of you want is for Lab Zero to have *enough* revenue to continue making Skullgirls, without compromising on the game's quality or unique identity. So long as they've got a shot at that goal, they're going to take it- and right now they've just hit the bullseye.

Also Injustice is going to be at Evo this year despite being imbalanced as fuck with massively damaging unblockable interactables and other bugs.
People on SRK are bitching about a 9th game because Skullgirls is still only a side torny and Smash's donation drive "feels totally worthless". One of the funniest things I've read though is that Skullgirls can't get main stage at an evo because of it's small turn out at other, much smaller and less significant tournaments. So in short, it can't be at a tornys so it can get higher numbers to appear at tornys. It's caught in the WoW gear rating/ raid loop.

From an approachability standpoint is it better than Skullgirls? Yes.
From a popularity/ exposure standpoint is it better than Skullgirls? Yes.

Skullgirls is the better fighter from a technical and mechanical standpoint; but it tries way too hard to be Marvel 2 with a new coat of paint. Injustice on the other hand tried to fuse Marvel 3 easiness (three buttons) with Street Fighter 4 footsies with some Smash Bros for all the intractable "random" stuff.

If you want to be super serious and have a contest of true skill; Skullgirls by FAR. If you want to sit around and drink beer and do stupid shit Injustice will keep you entertained for maybe an hour.

Both games have their good and bad points, but the biggest thing Injustice has going for it is it's MASSIVE exposure coming from NRS and having a huge marketing budget to gather a massive following. Skullgirls doesn't have that.
So does Injustice deserve to be in EVO over Skullgirls? Yes and no. It's about turn out numbers and Injustice has that in spades thanks to the reason I just mentioned. Skullgirls does not and probably never will.

As much as I don't care what does and doesn't make in to EVO by now, that's still kind of a fucked up thing to do. Like waiting for a table at a restaurant only to be told it will only have room for reservations. Now all of a sudden they decided it was tots ok. THAT'S what pisses me off; not because Skullgirls didn't get in (its playerbase isn't big enough anyway)

Ms. Fortune set
"Wha a pervert thing..."
"There are other better items in workshop with 4 star ratings, but this POS gets 5?"
"Please... Just no.... If this ever gets ingame, I'll never play TF2 again (been playing since the beta...)"

Valentine set:

"HOLY SHIT, THIS SET IS AWESOME! PLEASE ADD THIS KAWAII SET VALVE! <3"

Samson wig:
"pls no. We have the HOUWAR for something with animations and that receives enough 'le tentacle rape' jokes as it is. I'm surprised it's so easy to attract the cutesy kawaii 13yo audience though."
"this is retarded, completely destroyd the artstyle 0/10 would not wear"
"I want this and some femitems for us girls here! xD"
"I don't even care for hats all that much and I want this 100%. You can stick 20 dollar bills into the CD drive, right?"
"It can't go on sniper because people would wonder why Samson doesn't warn you about all those backstabs."
"It belongs to shittу korean mmorpg, but not to the greatest shooters of all time. Remember what TF2 was in 2006? And see what it is now. Dome for furfаgs and anime diрshits."

"Add this; an' i'll be buying the game hands down. Probably just for this. Yeah; sure i'll end up playing this, but i play sax and have made a fair amount of money from it; wouldn't mind losing some of that for this!!"
"I don't know what Skullgirls is but these items look amazing, make them be a thing :U"

I don't play Skullgirls but lemme point you to the direction of the pile of shit you can consume sir. Even at glance at the work that goes into it and match footage and having played Injustice now extensively I sleep well at night knowing the former's a better game completely.
Injustice fucking sucks to play and watch, is now riddled with levels of DLC characters and leaks matching Capcom's worst (to which no one complains, btw), and the principles being torn asunder by the hypothetical act of taking money from a company to break rules for them isn't something you should tolerate no matter what crappy dial a combo Mortal Kombat clone you're a fan of.

"Skullgirls 2 might be easier to sell to investors than a new game(they can say "look how much money we raised!"), but they would be so much better off just dropping it.

Skullgirls appeal is too narrow. A 3v3 fighter with only 8, and now maybe 11 or so characters? Not enough characters.
Also why play this marvel like game, when you can play marvel?
The art style is just ugly. I'm not even talking about the big titties swinging everywhere. The deformed bodies with the half-anime half-cartoon squished faces are just ugly.
Then we have the gross fan serice.

Whatever they are striving for, they can't do it with SG. With a different game maybe, but not with SG."

I have... A THEORY.

The impetus behind the addition of taunts to Skullgirls is the team realizing Beowulf was going to win the second poll. Because pro wrestlers exist to taunt, and adding Beowulf to the game without giving him the to climb up on his chair and pump up the crowd may have felt inadequate.
