So with the Joakim Mogren interview confirming the game is running on the FOX Engine, and Kojima's presentation at the GDC in ten days, it looks like they're kicking this shit into maximum overdrive.

When the sound is played backwards it resembles the A.I. pod's singing in Peace Walker.

It might not be Zadornov's hand, but it sure as shit is probably based off of the same tech.

Also, BB has some pretty interesting piercings at the end of the trailer.

More than likely, the guy in The Phantom Pain was either a new Big Boss clone (lol) or Chico (lol). TPP might be a precursor to the S3 program from Sons of Liberty.

I wanted to get into MGS a couple years ago (I don't have a PS3 or a working PSP, but I was planning on playing at least MGS, MGS2, and MGS3), and a friend who was really into the series told me not to bother caring about the plot at all, as Kojima was a troll and had written everything deliberately to confuse people who looked too far into the plot of things.

Was he right, and as someone who's never tried stealth games, are they doable gameplay-wise?

The overall plot of Metal Gear, while complicated, isn't really hard to understand, and the plot for each individual game is babbymode.

The KOJIMA2DEEP reputation started from idiots who skipped all the cutscenes in Sons of Liberty, got to the ending, and had no idea what happened.

Moe, nonsense doesn't mean complicated.

It means the writing is total bollocks.

Metal Gear games always represent a precursor to shit we'll be tired of for the next few years.

>MGS1
>"Cinematic" games
>MGS2
>Cutscenes, escort missions
>MGS3
>Brown, bloom, shoehorned multiplayer
>MGS4
>Setpieces

GZ/TPP's will probably be:

>Prologue games.

Plus, in the Japanese release of the game, Sam is the only enemy to have red blood, all other cyborgs, Raiden included, have white. Raiden commenting on Sam's lack of enhancements was only in the American release where cyborgs had red blood. Presumably, the conversation with Doktor about how White Blood was phased out is also absent from the Japanese version.
>> No. 171636

Probably cause the whole "white blood" thing was seen as a bit skeevy.

I mean we know Raiden's popular with the ladies over there and while I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant to be that I think-

No wait I think it was meant to be that.

BB in MGS4 wasn't voiced by Hayter. So I dunno I think it's excusable.

MGS3 wasn't brown and bloom. Half of that game had a green filter on everything. You fought in the jungle. The enemies had green uniforms. You had like, 8 kinds of green camo. Even the damned snow camo had green on it.

So I sat down and played Peace Walker this week, intent on finally getting somewhere with it.

I was sceptical as fuck at first, not really too keen on things broken up into tiny little A to B missions with a bunch of menus and loading screens in between, but I've come to absolutely love the game.

Managing Mother Base is really fun, and the Extra Ops missions are varied enough to keep me going through them all. If Ground Zeroes or MGSV can improve on any of this then hell yes.

My only gripe would be that the vehicle capture missions can get very stale very quickly, and even when you've got a team of four armed with Fulton-ammo Carl Gustavs it still takes fucking forever to do anything.

Anyone else grown to hate Big Boss? There's nothing great about this guy.

In MGS3 The Boss let him win, I don't care if he magically became better than The Boss at the end. He got his ass beaten FOUR freaking times by the same character.

In Portable Ops turns out he never even thought about his own ideals and was still mentally a low level grunt soldier and needed Gene to show him the idea of Outer Heaven. So now Big Boss is a plagiarist. In Peace Walker he also doesn't bother to regulate his group all that well since Miller is the one doing all the statistical work to finance and keep the damn unit functional by looking into ways to finance and pay the bills and even he needed to nag to Big Boss "Yo I can't do this alone, I need you actually act like a bloody leader and instruct our troops."

The more we learn about Big Boss the more I grow to hate him. His clones are superior characters. Doesn't help that he has the personality of a rock either and how he still behaves like a naive child by Peace Walker also annoys me like him still wanting to save Paz even though she highjacked his metal gear and tried to kill him with it. How he can't face reality makes me almost want to root for Zero, Sigint, and Paramedic to successfully kill him. Such a moron doesn't deserve to be praised.

Here's hoping that in Phantom Pain he stops acting like a retard. However if this guy doesn't find his balls by then, then to hell with him.

The Boss didn't "let" Big Boss win. He was just unfortunate enough to fight her in a bunch of cut scenes where she tends to dominate. Once you FOUGHT her you could win.

I think the point there was that he literally couldn't bring himself to beat the Boss. He held back until he finally couldn't anymore and allowed himself to surpass her.

Also you should never give a fuck about Portable Ops. Most of it is non-canon except the fact that something happened in San Heironymo that Miller isn't exactly fond of. It's also the only mainline MGS title not to be included in the 25th anniversary timeline for a damn reason.

There was nothing about Portable Ops that is out of the uality curve for your average MGS game.

I'm okay with anything that makes Gene a canon villain. It's one step closer to having John Slattery play him in the Metal Gear TV show that will never happen.

As a matter of fact, the only Metal Gear game with straight-up shit villains is Guns of the Patriots, but that only applies to the newly introduced ones. Liquid Ocelot was great.

So apparently the music for MGSV is being done by a guy named Ludvig Forsell, but the only other game he seems to have done music for is a PSP game called Senritsu no Stratus (whose only famous song is by Yuki Kajiura nonetheless). Anybody know what other work he's done and if he's any good.

I was just thinking, the Kid from the trailers, the one that's going to end up being a boss (The one that curses the world), there' always been something funny about him.

Then I realized he looks like a young Keifer Sutherland, almost. And he's blond. And he's wearing clothes with a bare chest.

Could it be young Liquid? Maybe. I dunno.
>> No. 176882

He's also got a necklace of jackal teeth (Liquid's quote about hunting jackals in the desert), is in the Middle East where Liquid was a POW, and seems to be around the right age given when Les Enfants Terribles was supposed to have started.

Seems like a pretty good bet they want us to think he's a young Liquid, even if it somehow turns out that he's not.
