Thanks for reminding me that I need to pre-order that shit. Looks like Operation Rainfall was a complete success!

...And those are the only two things I'm even remotely hype about this year. WWHD is cool but not enough to make me buy a Wii U. Now, when the Xenoblade(-ish?) game comes out, then I will be all over the Wii U.

Yeah, but I think that's TBA; I was thinking only this year, and the Xenoblade followup is slated for this year (IIRC). Likewise, Zelda Wii U will probably worth getting the console for, but it's also TBA.

Also I think FExSMT (Fexsmut!) is going to be a turned-based RPG.

Still seems creepy, which is weird because the old games, or any game for that matter, aren't lacking in gorey mishaps, but a change in character illicits a feeling of discomfort in some.

That was the thing that was creepy when the developers were talking about it earlier. They were a tad be over enthused about beating up on Laura. Game looks solid but are the MK styled kill fail screens necessary?

I felt the same way at first, then you play it and shit is SO UNCOMFORTABLY, INCREDIBLY HORRIBLE it provides a gut churning terror.

Just, the game is so good and just from how brutal her deaths are you feel the need not to fail and if you do you can't help but go into complete aghast recoiling horror, point in case this one made me literally cry.

Yea..can I buy the censored Aussie version please. I mean I've got nothing against shown her taking a few scrapes but...damn. I mean that is on the level of the Spec Ops the Line and after its stuff I had to walk away from the game for a couple days. This I'd have to quit at least for the day after watching..shit. I feel generally bad for anyone that LPs this and doesn't do perfectly. It might actually break them. I mean this isn't over the top funny, its just disturbing.

Just gaze upon the bullshit she deals with in the first 15 minutes, in a particularly brutal, cringe inducing injury three minutes in, if you can't stomach that you can't play this game because it and shit like it is unavoidable, for instance she falls through a tree later in the game and his the injury she gets at three minutes in on at least 2 of the six branches on the way down.

the upgrades feel like she is actually gaining survival skills, for instance when she first dodges and counters it's by scrambling on all fours out of the way and throwing dirt in the the face of her attackers, her finishing move is braining a downed opponent with a rock.

As she ups her skills she rolls out of the way and counters by planting an arrow by hand into knees and eventually throats, her finishers become chokes outs or shied away firearms blasts to skilled and clean assassinations.

Huh Tomb Raider or just a bunch of guys that wanted to make a Creed type game /torture simulator I kinda kid but..not . Maybe I'll pick it up off GMG when they have a sale plus the usual 20% off in a bit. But I do notice that this Dishonored and Bioshock Infinite are really gore happy. Its a bit unsettling. Killing things that used to be human is one thing be it splicers/zombies/demons/whatever but driving blades and other objects though a persons eye socket...I kinda think its time to plateau the graphics evolution.
>> No. 170676
Is it Murphy's Law: the Island: the Game? It's disturbing at first but after a little while I have to wonder if you can't just stroll around for five minutes without something trying to impale you - which is probably where some people get the idea the dev team likes to see Lara (and, from the looks of things, people in general) suffer. I get that Eidos and Crystal Dynamics Lara and co. weren't terribly interesting, but it just feels contrived, even for a game.
>> No. 170677
I felt the game did a good job of taking away the player rewards for killing all the henchmen in brutal ways, but without making it too harsh that it turned you off the game entirely. Lara has enough small victories and personal triumphs throughout the game, but it's all for something beyond the goal of personal survival. You're also working to get the others off the island and saving Sam.

I don't think they did the brutality to make it a big spectacle, I think they did it as a sobering experience for the player, to make it feel more than just "Agh crap I died again". There are so many checkpoints that dying isn't a serious consequence. They needed something to make the player move carefully and take the game seriously, so... they upped the violence in a very intense but specific way.
>> No. 170680
>>170672
was in gamestop today and the guys tried to sell me on tomb raider by mentioning the brutal death scenes and its like what kind of incentive is that actually? I don't want to die at all in single player if I can help it, and even multiplayer, gears of war headstomping was only interesting after a close game. I don't get why everyones talking about hey its gritty. hey is it fun to play?
>> No. 170683

It's amusing how the controversy completely overshadows the game's other aspects. Did you know it has customisation and sandbox elements? I sure didn't, but I guess I have to pick it up now since I'm a sucker for those things. I thought it'd be total arse but it actually looks competent. I just hope Bioshock Infinite doesn't turn out to be the inverse.

Not sure how people liked this.

A lot of the animations were complete garbage, QTE's out the ass to do the simplest things. Hell more than half the time it didn't even feel like I was playing it. Imagine Uncharted, but somehow with even more scripted events and sloppier controls.

Puzzles and such are practically non-existant, and the ones that are there will have the game pretty much yell at you the solution if you take more than 30 seconds to just look around and figure it out.

Story was also complete ass. Hard to make any type of drama or tension when Lara falls far enough to shatter half her bones, walks it off, then it happens again a few minutes later.

Also fuck her shitty chav accent.

And and unlike the fight with the Solarii Tank, the Stormguard Oni has back up.

>>170803

Not quite. The russian guy that becomes your first kill has two brothers, and they beat the shit out of you in that cutscene when you fail to rescue Sam in the first ritual.

I'm not sure you get to kill the other two. I wasn't really paying attention.

The two things have absolutely nothing in common, and yet they're being crossed over. The fact that it's ponies barely adds to it.

It would be equally as bad if it was done with...I dunno, Sonic. It's such a desperate plea for popularity it's disgusting, and it turns me off to both MLP and Bioshock.
>> No. 171067
>>171065
Considering the few review scores I've seen thus far and the hype train behind this game, I don't think they need (nor are making) a plea for attention/popularity, just having some fun. Yeah, they could have chosen Sonic, or He-man, or Ducktales to use, but they probably went with MLP just for more exposure/response.

Alternatively, they did it to try and put two things that are normally as far apart as possible (a children-aimed cartoon about talking ponies and a Mature-rated "realistic" video game about deprivation, greed, and humanity) together for extra humor.

I don't think this is a drive for attention like having Generic McSruffy on the boxart was.

In any case, cancelling a pre-order over this seems rather silly and childish.

admittedly, I'm not hype at all for Bioshock. or MLP. But whatever. It's a dumb joke that I'm sure will only net a few weirdos who were already kinda thinking about getting it anyway. That he feels the need to grab at that market is amusing.

Is it even going to be in game outside of an easter egg? Is it just this video? Like really, I doubt the game is going to be rife with magical child-safe adventures in friendship and flying horses.
>> No. 171071
