Nier was really charming. Simplistic but fun gameplay, endearing characters and a very nice soundtrack. If it had a bigger budget and team like the stuff Kingdom Hearts games get it might have gotten more credit from the masses. Dayum shame.

I didn't end up liking Nier much to be honest. Soundtrack was nice but crippled by the fact it looped endlessly, the combat sucked, and the only dungeon I liked was the block dungeon in the desert, which had GOOD block puzzles and the YOU GOT A THIIIIING moment.

Didn't like the characters besides Emil, the side stuff was all terrible, and the story was really predictable.

Admittedly, I did like it more than Drakengard, so.... maybe this will be a further improvement? Except D2 was the worst of the punch so no guarantees of anything really.

I liked running around mowing things down in a ridiculous manner for the first few levels because it was just a silly and fun thing. Then I think my brother hogged the game for a bit and I lost track of it and also thought the cutscenes I saw when I watched him play were dumb, though I think I actually missed most of the really weird stuff. I'd honestly like to play again some to see what I think of it now. Thinking about it, this kind of gameplay might actually work better as a kind of bonus level between parts of a more conventional game, in which after you beat a level's boss you temporarily become extra powerful and use that to scatter remaining minions minions in the region.

Also, looking at some other news on the title (http://www.siliconera.com/2013/06/27/another-eccentric-lady-joins-the-cast-of-drakengard-3/) it seems the main character's goal is to kill all the other numbered girls? Personally I'm gonna have to wait and see if having to fight against Four is a dealbreaker for me.
