Also the president of Atlus Japan said everything's going to continue as is, before we start doomsaying here. Not pointing fingers at you guys, but a few of the sites I lurk went mad when they heard the news.

We can go into full panic mode when and IF Sega starts to fuck up Atlus, which I don't think is likely.

Time to unclench our assholes. We made it. Now we begin the wait for the two fives: Persona V and Etrian Odyssey V.

So, what do you guys think of the latest MUH PATRIARCHY controversy hitting the internet? I guess Kotaku got enough hits with the shit they stirred with Dragon's Crown, and are hungry for more of that.

Again, I'm not challenging your assertion, which I imagine is true, I'm challenging the evidence you're providing. Simply restating your findings does not change the fact that you have applied zero rigor to your research and are stating it as though you have.

> you have applied zero rigor to your research

Aren't you exaggerating a bit about this? We are in the midst of a informal argument about videogames, expecting each claim to have rigorous sources is a bit silly.

I mean, the argument that brought these numbers was a claim that "even though the prior games sold decently, the public in general has never played them", which is patently untrue and the sales numbers ARE clear proof of that.

I'll do it for Anon, since I was looking at these earlier:
http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Tomb+Raider&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200
> Tomb Raider PS 1996 4.63
> Tomb Raider (2013) PS3 2013 1.43
> Tomb Raider (2013) X360 2013 1.17
> Tomb Raider (2013) PC N/A 0.19
>2013 Total: 2.79 M (Worldwide)
Which is less than the 4 M claimed by Squeenix (published when they stated how bad a number that apparently is), but even that claim is less than the PS number given.

'Course, if their 2013 numbers are off, their 1996 ones likely are as well. Question is if it's by the same ratio or if it skews the other way...

Cautionary tale for any using the super fire spread mod. When they say it'll burn all but like, 5 blocks, they fucking mean it. I just ravaged my own Lethamyr fortress trying to clear the forest by my beach home/victory monument. My farm, my house, most of my wall, all of it burnt. The monument itself would have gone down had I not jumped out to magic launcher and turned the mod off.

Plus side is, it did indeed clear a lot of the forest.

Can I bump?

I'm looking for a new server to dick around on. Nothing fancy, just something small with limited/no pvp and maybe griefing protection or at least mods that will actually lay a smackdown on griefers. Vanilla preferred but I won't complain about something like a mo'creatures mod.

I already tried all of the server listing sites and everything I ended up on was monumentally shitty in one way or another.

You know how Elemental: War of Magic was a complete turd?

You know how Fallen Enchantress was a much better and polished game that still wasn't really quite fun, just mediocre?

Well, I've played a few games of the most recent version (that is nearing release but is doing the nowadays common thing with public "beta" for preorders), and I must say - I'm impressed with how they actually made an enjoyable game out of this. The cloth map is actually very pretty, leveling is much more coherent, and the tactical combat is improved thanks to weapon-dependent skills. Also, the units aren't AS ugly as before (still pretty fucking ugly).

The only thing it really lacks now is multiplayer.

PS: Actual game experience may vary and it might just be the novelty effect for me, so I'd welcome some other opinions from people who have the game.

It's all up to how the storytelling and setting go. Making something new that will deliver the same kick is a challenge.

Watching the previews was physically straining for me, which is odd since once you get through the motions of the game you are murdering on auto pilot.

>Halo: Spartan Assault is a new top-down, twin-stick shooter due out this July for Windows 8 devices.
>We were told the upgrades that require players to spend real money are designed to make the game much easier, and based the purchasable options in the demo, will represent the majority of unlockables.
>Halo: Spartan Assault will be released for Windows 8 tablets, phones and personal computers in July for $6.99.

At this point I think Microsoft has decided that as long as they're digging, they might as well dig the biggest hole and hope that they hit diamonds or buried treasure at the bottom.

Okay so, after years of false starts, rebuilds, and getting screamed at every time it appeared, the Xcom shooter has finally crawled for, squealing and covered in fluids, from 2k's gaping pit.

It... looks okay I think.

2K has a reasonable track record for patches. If they patch up some of the AI's more serious faults (removing themselves from wherever they are, being completely incapable of using ANY special abilities on their own, getting themselves killed by switching cover when you never told them to, etc), and the ridiculous aimbot on the enemy (pop out of cover. For two seconds. I dare you. You know that neat swap cover feature they showed you in the tutorial mission? I dare you to use it in an actual combat scenario. I dare you.) it will at least be a fun cover shooter with neat abilities and neat RPG elements, that allows you to dress all of your agents in pink and green.

A lot of 3DS games have demos these days. The Etrian Odyssey 4 demo even let you use the save file from the demo in the finished game, I think.

Speaking of which, if you like team-building games, EO4 might be worth a look. It's an old school dungeon crawler RPG where you get to make all five of your party's characters and manage their builds. Pretty grindy, and fairly unforgiving difficulty, but it sounds like those things might be up your alley.

I think I actually played the one that was for the DS a year or two back when I was into trying more "obscure" titles.
The lack of animation and having to draw out a dungeon map and things like that really turned me off of the game since it just felt like a portable DnD session and nothing more.
