So you might have noticed that you can’t get any new subscriptions, or that your recurring one didn’t renew. Well, if you’ve been paying attention to my tumblr for the last month you might know why. I’m changing my business.

Now the questions arise: What is going to happen to DrawnToBondage.ca? Will the site be gone forever? What about the content?

Don’t worry! Though DrawnToBondage.ca will no longer be a paysite accepting new membership the old content will still be up for purchase, and the free content will still be free to see right here. With the creation of FiresideDen.com and the introduction of an online store, DrawnToBondage.ca member pinups and comics will be sold in packages for those that are still interested in buying the content.

As for incomplete comics I can’t guarantee their completion at this time, but should the latest chapters of Zaela and Tantric be completed it will definitely be announced here, and put up for sale in the store.

Finally, I want to send out a huge thank you to all my members that have supported me over the 7 years that I’ve run this site. In my own opinion she is trying to change her image to the hentai community because everyone now knows she has a past with promising more updates with out delivering.

I have been a member of DTB for three years, and she didn't used to be this flaky. That is the only good thing I can say from my membership.

She made the switch not to 'screw her subscribers,' but because she doesn't enjoy drawing the things she use to anymore. That coupled with struggling with depression has caused her output to suffer. Which sucks, but there's much else to do than try to make a change since art isn't like any typical profession. If you can't get into what you're creating, it just cripples you.

Besides, I'd probably be burnt out as fuck too if I had to make my living off drawing futa porn for whiny straight dudes. I look forward to the gay site.

Real kicker: Her project has almost no support. 85/210 votes to even get it live, and that's all from the initial rush. It's gotten about 3 votes in 3 days. So uhhh. Project going approximately nowhere.

I guess that's what happens when you build a reputation as someone who isn't going to live up to promises. Reality is harsh and given the time after time she's gone on extended breaks, it seems like most people just simply aren't willing to fork over a collective 5 grand to her.

I would rather donate to more worth while charities then her . She isn't worth it . With dtb now closed and no recurring subs. Writer's block isn't when you can't come up with ideas, writer's block is when you just can't take those ideas and convert them into words. So artist's block is when you just can't drag up the will to actually draw. Getting requests has jack shit to do with all of it.

I subbed for a while and even if I did like the subject matter here I wouldn't chuck in any more money. 5 grand is a lot. Even if she got to 210, and assuming every single one of them donated (Donations don't just spring up- They come from your voters, that's why the system exists.) she'd have to wring 25$ at least out of every one of them.

As much as I can sympathise with having a creative block, she should have taken more steps to reward or compensate the subscribers before shutting DtB down/converting it to a store. You can't reward bad behaviour, if she can't draw as much then maybe she just needs to take a break and sort the issues out on her own.

This really isn't as easy as it sounds. just like kickstarter, offbeatr has pretty good detection of fraud- And if they ever figure out that it happened between now and 'getting the money' they're allowed to freeze and cancel the entire thing. Cheating on this isn't a smart idea, and a dedicated fan would instantly remove her chance of success. E-mail addresses don't hide you.

IP addresses and to a bigger extent the hardware statistics a site is allowed/does take from you. If a hundred votes come in from the same hardware that's it. Not to mention the problem that illegitimate votes don't do that thing where money happens, it has to be legitimate. Even on kickstarter, a few companies have been caught rigging the box and banned. You can't vote for yourself, donate to yourself, or anything collusion-related.

And sorry, but you're doing artists everywhere a disservice by supporting someone who is likely going to take your money and then fall into the same old habits in 3 months. Enabling people has never and will never be a viable way to solve issues.

She was currently working on 3 projects (Free comic, Tantric, and most important of all- Zaela 4). It is simply inexcusable to tell subscribers that you're working on new content and abandon it half way through. I was honestly considering opening an account once she started Zaela 4 and thank god I didnt. She may have higher quality than Dr. G or Sienna but as an artist, you don't promise people work and then abandon it just because you're too bored to finish it. Thats simply inexcusible. I hope she fails hard. There are plenty of other artists out there that haven't forgotten what a priviledge it is to have a fanbase.

Subscription models just don't work. At some point the updates stop happening as frequently, if not shut down completely, and the customers are left holding the bag. And usually the price to be a subscriber is high enough that you'd be better off just commissioning the art you want to see.

Artists should either a) sell comics on their own individually or b) accept donations for comics per page.

I'm sorry she has life issues and depression and all, but if you want art to be your job, treat it like a job. Don't accept people's money if you can't deliver what you're selling.

Sadly, most of this is a one-man operation and I’m left to do the majority of the work, but that’s what I expected when I took on the task, and it’s what I did when I first opened up DrawnToBondage.ca 8 years ago. So what all is required of me on this? Well, for one I have to draw up all new content since the site is more geared towards gay men and homoerotica, and considering DrawnToBondage.ca was pretty much the opposite of that I can’t really bring over stuff from there to the new site.

Then there’s design a whole new site; New look (obviously) from what DrawnToBondage.ca was, and butt-loads of coding, as well as drawing up the fancy graphics for it. Thankfully I have a friend that’s kind enough to handle all the tricky backend coding for me that I have no idea how to do. Things like the gallery, comic archiving and browsing, soon helping me to set up the online store, and of course all of the server side stuff for dealing with memberships. Lots of work still to do, but at the same time I’ve gotten quite a bit done too.

Hopefully, once I get all the hard stuff out of the way and the bulk of the content, I can start drawing a few freebies and posting them up here, fill the gallery with some beefcake pinups and what have you.

Even if she gets the funds ,so far the slow support for the gay site shows that its likely to crash and burn. But don't be fooled if she throws in a hint about zaela or any other comics that might interests you . It could be a bait and switch trap just to get you subbed. IMO i would actually wait month or two so the updates would pile up before risking joining at an early stage.
