I never considered burping to be a fetish, just like I never considered striped stockings to be a fetish. I don't mind including it in pictures and think it can add for a good bit of emphasis or "immersion" if you want to go that far. It is silly to see the overreaction, though. It's one of those things that if you think too much about it, it becomes a problem. I can guarantee that artists don't want to draw burping because they worry about being seen as "that kind of person." The line of thinking, a lot of the time, is "burping might as well be farting, which might as well be slob stuff." Lots of assuming, overthinking, and silly logic. The only way for it to go away is just for people to get over it and stop whining. Don't think that's happening any time soon though.
