Okay, I have to say, I'm not really into the aliens stuff as a fetish, I just started reading as a curiosity...but that was fucking hot. The art and real-feeling dialogue made it feel like a real human sexual situation despite the fact that one of the partners is an alien.

So kudos to the artist that did this.

I seriously wish they would have come out something a bit more imaginative than just poorly done purple humans.

I mean, you would think that the fanbase following Garrus has despite being really alien looking and the fact that Tali is one of the most popular characters in the franchise, made Bioware put some god damn effort into giving her a distinctive face.

I would have even preferred something like this to be honest.

They weren't available as love interests originally because they weren't even planned to be in any future games originally. They were literally meant to be encyclopedias for their respective races for you to listen to. It was only because of their massive fan followings on the bioware forums were they written back into the story for Mass Effect 2. From the end of ME1 they were both "done" characters never to return.
