Piano Chord...

Pic is Infinity Reading List. I really hope these charts aren't the best thing to come out of Hickman's run because so far...eugh.

In other news:
It's the X-Men vs. The Future and the Future ain't pretty!
The Ultimate Universe may just survive the Double Galactus!
The Thors Three strike the Godbomb! A lot!
The Four Horsemen of Death make their move all over the Uncanny Avengers!
Also, Avengers Assemble and Hulks: Agent of SMASH or something if you're into shoddily made cartoons...

hence why I continue to stick with the strip now. But I mean this all just descending into utter contrivance and the lowest quality shit. Middleman dealing with Spock just happens to leave a paper trail that points right to him. Professor has intimate knowledge of Otto's papers on neuroscience. I now I really shouldn't expect much from the way the big two editors run their shops but this is very weak crap.

You know, I've been enjoying Uncanny X-men and All New during Battle of the Atom, but Jesus Christ Battle of the Atom #2 was so bad. It was a clusterfuck that tried to start and end a ton of plots while also trying to be a huge action climax and it ended with like five sappy ass epilogues.

Look, I'm not about to defend the Ultiverse as a concept or a line of monthly books, especially since USM is the only title that ever maintained any semblance of respectable quality. Like a full 2/3 of the line was produced by Mark Millar, and you know how that goes. But when you print stuff like this it gives the impression I'm SUPPOSED to hope everyone dies screaming.

Also Sam Wilson has been loving this robutt off panel ever since Ultimate Extinction back in '05. So that's nice.

A lot of those descriptions of 616 Marvel sound a whole lot less... accurate then they had been when the Ultimate Universe started.

Like, Ultimate X-Men never had an M-Day that reduced the number of mutants to the 100s. And 616 Spidey is technically dead, being ridden around by Doc Ock like a meat robot.

Instead it was a pharmaceutical cure developed by the government that thousands of mutants willingly took.

Frankavilla made a really solid transition to sci fi stuff in the latest Guardians of the Galaxy, but I really wished he opened up his colour pallet for this. Or at least shift more to a bluish spectrum.

Marvel is really patting themselves on the back or doing this. Despite there already being a couple of Muslim super heroines. Tumblr is already eating it up.

She'll be forgotten in a couple of years and used as fodder for that next big event that'll "change everything as we know it".

Or maybe that book will have the same luck as the Young Avengers.
Which is an awesome book, by the way.

Speak of, wonder where's that MI13 chick with the Excalibur. Was it Faiza? Felt a bit shoehorned back then, and around the same time when Ghost Rider got that ninja nun sidekick too, but I'm curious on where she is, now.

Didn't know it was over, but yeah, the damage is done all right. In my case I'd been on the fence with the big two for years, but Marvel had put out some books I'd enjoyed... like Runaways, Avengers Academy, Sentinel, Captain Britain and MI13...

Then this came out and long story short, I don't read Marvel or DC any more. Why keep reading things that just leave you unhappy in the long run when there's so many better options?

I take it you've seen what Hopeless is going to do with the survivors next? He's going to ruin all of Zemo's character development too.

It's tough being a kid hero in the big two. You're probably just going to die.

> He's going to ruin all of Zemo's character development too.

Why would Marvel not destroy Zemo's rocky move towards heroism when they are basically doing the same story over again with Doc Ock in Spider-Man's body.
>> No. 218605

Soooo in the end they did kill off a bunch of young characters, ruined some others and Arcade, and rickrolled the readers. Fucking classy.
>> No. 218608

I know that's a dig, but up until they just this month got cancelled from low sales, EVERY Spider-man book was about about a Rocky move toward heroism by a former villain.

Hey, where's Cain Marko at post Fear Itself? I'm interested.

On another note, Amazing X-men was my favorite thing that McGuiness has drawn yet, and I especially loved how he drew Wolverine like it was still 1999 and X-men hadn't been released yet. But the story didn't really have claws to draw me in outside of the whole kitsch value of watching someone play with the legacy of the worst x-men story ever. And some lines really annoyed me.

Nonsense! If you're at DC and you're a kid hero you're probably a legacy.

Meaning that, most likely, you no longer exist.

It would be difficult to do justice to a Sikh hero without someone claiming it's prejudiced against Muslims. It's hard to really do much with a religion that's heavily about resistance to forced conversion without touching on exactly who it is trying to do the forced converting...

Cain hung around, still depowered and depressed, until Thunderbolts became Dark Avengers and US Agent brought him in on a last minute mission without any obvious reason given. During said mission Man-Thing and Satana reached into an alternate dimension and allowed Cain to connect with a different Cyttorak so he temporarily became Juggernaut again, which he used to save the day by crushing shit. When this arc concluded there was an interlude sort of issue where Luke's team was given a literal send off via Man-Thing teleporting everyone to whichever places suited them best. He hasn't appeared since.

I always liked Amazing Man.

But yeah there's no worse fate than being a teen hero.

You don't have to bring that up. Maybe make the character a second generation immigrant to a Western city.

Well, Brubaker had him attack Buckycap, and then he brought Hawkeye's brother as a villain, so... kinda, since the end of Born Better?

I mean, the best part of Zemo as a hero was that he was still pretty much a villain in terms of how much he was willing to exploit things after he was done saving the world, because for all his improvements he was still kind of an arrogant jerk, so some petty grudges can fit...

>Never really understood why that was necessary. I always wanted him as a full time Avenger.

Byrne is an asshole, basically.

It never made a lick of sense. He'd become a "hero," but a mercenary. A very very very wealthy mercenary that got paid big bucks to do shit. And Byrne said "Hey, Wizard messed with his head and now he's evil."

Okay, even if he'd been turned evil... why give up the incredibly lucrative mercenary job to GO ROB BANKS?

Stupidity.
>> No. 218643
>>218638
>Well, Brubaker had him attack Buckycap,

Saying that he was "evil" in that is oversimplifying. Born Better was about him looking at the past and being honest about it, even though being honest about it meant admitting his family had been one fucking piece of shit after another.

Knowing that America's "greatest hero" had a lot of skeletons in his closet... if offended Zemo. He wasn't trying to hurt Bucky or Falcon, he was trying to drag the ugly truth into the light.

Right down to the trademark ignoring-details-others-wrote, like his bit where he has Reed say "I got Sandman his job with Silver Sable".

Erm... no, Sable met Sandman when she was on a mission that he wandered into being heroic, and when it was done she went "if you ever need a job..."

Byrne, man. Byrne.

Let's also not forget that Byrne rewrote Sue and Reed's original meeting (Which delved a bit into Reed's work with the OSS during WWII) to be about 10,000 times creepier than it needed to be. With Reed being a college aged dude checking out at twelve year-old.
