Much better than the two series before it. Ben feels like a human again and the inclusion of aliens into society at least as far as the city of Bellwood is concerned is quite nice. Also seeing Wyatt back in character creation is a treat specially with the callbacks he does in the background.

I love it. I do find people complaining that it ignores AF and UA hilarious. I will admit the first season of Alien Force was ok. There are elements I liked like the Highbreed and Paradox but I think Omniverse does such a better job.

Dimensional travel can be hell.

Never understood fan's undying love for the original series. The first Ben 10 series is very far from great, with its mediocre storytelling, bland designs, forgettable villains, and annoying protagonist. There were a few promising moments in the first season, but those didn't last long as the series progressed.

Alien Force wasn't a masterpiece either, but the writers were at least trying to tell a story, which puts them above the previous show. I remember the exact moment I gave up on Alien Force too: It was when Ben's former bullies tried to pick a fight with him and Ben responded with an incredibly generic anti-bully speech. I'd say Omniverse has done a bang up job. Honestly I thought McDuffie could have done a much better job. I mean I loved JLU. I loved Static Shock. But then he got to this show and I was bored. To be fair turning Kevin good was never his idea. He wanted the third kid to be Cooper, which makes so muc h more sense in retrospect.

Omniverse has brought it back to its roots which makes me happy and thewriters are making an effort. Malware and Khyber are some interesting main villains and Rook is actually a good foil for Ben.

That just shows it had a lot of episode types there. One was an episode inside a videogame, the other one had Ben almost joining a sort of Guardians of the Galaxy.

To be fair, srs bznss as it was, Alien Forces had its merits on its own too, in my opinion. Kevin was a fun contrasting character. If the show didn't change and retcon suff, I'd have less of a problem with it.

They're actually rerunning Alien Forces or... maybe it's Ultimate Alien, I get those mixed, on tv here. I don't follow it religiously, but I sorta listen to it. There was a Charmcaster episode recently which implies she still used magic, so I guess Gwen was a combo of wizard/martial artist (original series)/alien hybrid, at this point?

The interactions between the three kids in Alien Force were pretty good. I just find that the sequel series fiddled too much with source material that was perfectly fine to begin with. For instance the Forever Knights went from a bunch of groups with no real goals. Vilgax went from a space conqueror to a guy trying to use rules to take Earth. The Highbreed and Darkstar where fine villains though. That and I found the later aliens to be lacking in the creativity department. Swampfire was pretty much Wildvine+Heatblast

Omniverse is like mystery inc: just taking everything apart and building on the good. It's by far my favorite iteration of the series and could still use some sort of overarching plot instead of having Ben do small errands and minor missions. I was a stalwart follower of the original series, but I really found Ben to be unbearable in retrospect.
With Alien Force, they had a good balance of personalities, but the DNAliens were just so dull as a villain. While the overarching story was a good experiment, it just didn't move as fast as it needed to by half.

But having said that, I felt Ultimate Alien hit a genuinely good balance between the original series and Alien Force. Admittedly, the fact it was still built off the retcons introduced in Alien Force hampered it, but the personalities of the team were better developed.

But seriously Omniverse acts as a sort of an umbrella,for all the previous series. Basically the shit you have to know is after Ben 10 alien Nazis tried infiltrating earth. Ben assembled a team and stopped that. Vilgaxcame back as a wuss, Ben kicked his ass. Some warlord from Kevin's race tri collecting all the aliens so his could reach godmode, Kevin absorbed his powers and turned evil for all of five seconds. A greymatter alien, student to Azmuth, made a bootleg omnitrix that copied Ben's DNA. He's evil. Finally cthullu was revealed to be and alien that king Arthur punched around, which was what the Forever Knights were founded to do again, Vilgax becomes Cthullu. Ben kicks his ass again.

Thankfully cue Omniverse where shit is really way better.

Speaking as someone that HAS followed the show off and on, but apparently with key eps getting missed, the whole "rebuilt the universe, only it's different" thing confuses the fuck out of me to this day. How it happened what was changed, I mean. As long as we're explaining things, anyone wanna give a stab at that? The wikis I've read were... muddled. I'm gonna call them muddled, to be polite.

Kevin never had good chemistry with Ben, and fucked up the chemistry Ben and Gwen had.
