I figured I may as well start a new thread for the new season even if the old one wasn't full yet.

While all the advertisement says the new season starts a week from today, if the schedule on Cartoon Network's website and my DVR is too be trusted the actual first episode is airing tonight at 8:30 PM Pacific time.

I believe CN is showing a new episode of Gumball tonight, because of the Dragons: Riders of Berk sneak peek airing before it.

Tonight should be fun. I've missed Gumball.

"The Remote" was great. The gags were funny, the family had dynamic interaction with each other, and there was a nice twist at the end. The new visual look threw me off a little bit, but I quickly became accustomed to it. Overall, this was a fantastic episode to start off season two.

I wanted Nicole to smack her on the back of the head. Seriously I get that Richard, Gumball, and Darwin are scared of her due to being stupid incompetent losers. But Nicole BEAT UP Mr. Rex. A guy so fucking scary he has no body and just a carnivorous demonic face in the darkness of the junkyard. And yet Nicole.....fears her daughter? That's bullshit of the highest order.

Sorry brah. I can understand a mother fearing her daughter in a more slightly dramatic scenario akin to Azula and Ursas' relationship in Avatar, and the kicker being that Ursa was never afraid of her.

And yet in this slapstick show the mother character who flat out kicks too much ass and is undeterred is afraid of her daughter who is a minor character at best? I'm not buying it. At most I can accept that Nicole allows Anais to get away with some bratty behavior (because she's the gifted one in the family and hence Nicole spoils her), but outright fear in a way similar to Vicky's parents (FOP) or Mandy's parents (Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy)? No fucking way. In those other examples the parents are weakling wusses, but Nicole is not a weakling (neither physically or emotionally). So shit doesn't add up.

The new episodes sucked. I'm kind of getting annoyed by the hippie teacher guy. He's getting a little more and more obnoxious with each appearance.

And I hated the second episode. Richard's wrap was dumb, the dancing bananas joke was also way too long, the concept of Richard getting a job and not being worthless being bad for the universe was just stupid.

However, the only good thing were the gifs. Although I could have done without the scenes of switching sexes and age regression. The fanbase for Gumball is a perverse piece of horse shit like the masturbators for Gravity Falls, so this crap only fuels them more. But from the perspective of just a viewer, those trippy bits were fun. Its just too bad the episode can't be saved by just those snippets.

>LONDON - Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting unit said Friday that it has given the green light to a third season of global hit series The Amazing World of Gumball on Cartoon Network.
The first series from London-based Cartoon Network Studio Europe launched last year and has drawn strong ratings for Cartoon Network worldwide. It uses 2D and 3D animation in a live-action setting. . . .

>In the U.S., the second season premiere was the top show of the day among boys 2-11 and 6-11, as well as number one in its time period among kids 2-11, 6-11 and all boys demos, according to the network.

>For the third season, Turner has commissioned 40 episodes. Air dates have not been set, but the show will continue to air on Cartoon Network in over 160 countries.

>"Season two has already seen a big leap in terms of comedy and visual storytelling, and we're excited to see where we can go with a third season," said Daniel Lennard, vp original series and development at Turner Broadcasting. "This is a testament to Turner's belief in the remarkable talents of Ben Bocquelet, [director] Mic Graves and the entire Gumball team."

WHAT DOES IT FUCKING MATTER!?

We all know CN will pull our collars and give this show the hiatus of hell treatment. Young Justice is another show that gets treated like this. To me Gumball is not a show you watch as it goes, you watch it when its canned and you have all access to its seasons on a website.

Gravity Falls is the same way, fuck hiatus hell. Kudos to Regular Show and Adventure Time for not falling into this shit.

Hiatus problems aren't necessarily the fault of the shows' creators; the networks play a huge part. Motorcity's first season is completed and ready to be aired, but Disney's sitting on the episodes, with late October supposedly being when they'll start airing them again.

Either make Carrie uninterested and kept her single or keep her happy with Darwin. No more no less. As far as Rachel goes, she's served her purpose. No, Elmore is ostensibly set in the US (or a fictional US-like country) and both Nicole and Richard have lived there since they were kids.

The show itself is mostly made in the UK (and a couple different places in Europe) which leads to these kinds of locational inconsistencies with background stuff.

A thought occurred when I read that post: Gumball is one of the few cartoons that's still doing visual comedy. While I enjoy Adventure Time and Regular Show, the humor for both shows rely heavily on conversations, giving little room for any funny images or anything that can be considered "cartoony".
