I'm gonna make a quick list of recommendations because why not. I've gotten interested in makeup in the last couple years or so because I grew up thinking that girly stuff was worthless and terrible. Now I love it. These are some products that I've found particularly useful.
My favorite overall brand is NYX; you can find it at most Targets and on Ulta. It's very cheap and you get a lot of bang for your buck. A particular standout is their butter gloss: looks good, feels good, applies easily, and even though it doesn't last long, it fades gracefully. Their round case and matte lipsticks are also really really nice; I have Snow White from the round case collection as well as Pure Red and Indie Flick (neon orange) in matte and they are FAB. I'm not as fond of their liquid eyeliners, but they're serviceable. NYX's green concealer was useful in hiding some of my more egregious hickeys earlier this year.
If you wear eyeshadow at all, invest in Urban Decay's primer potion. DO IT. There's a reason why it's so pricey. You only need a teeny tiny amount for each lid, and it's MAGIC. For reference, I did my New Year's Eve makeup at about 1pm on Dec 31st, and I used UD primer potion. I looked in a mirror again at 5am Jan 1st AND MY EYESHADOW LOOKED EXACTLY THE SAME. I had walked all over New York and danced and sweated and made out with someone and gotten uproariously drunk on at least three kinds of vodka plus champagne, but not a single flake of my eyeshadow had budged. Get the primer. I wish I had the finances for more Urban Decay products because DAT QUALITY, but as it is I just have to wait for sales and birthday/holiday gift cards.
If you're looking for a waterproof liquid eyeliner and you don't mind spending $12, I might be able to recommend Sephora's house brand. I don't own one personally, but I swatched a couple on my wrist the last time I was at a mall. Two days later, after regular hand washing and showering and going about my daily life, the swatches were still there. I got rid of them with no trouble with some CVS makeup remover. I don't know how it would play out on eyelids, but it seems like some powerful shit.
