How many languages do you speak and which ones /baw?

English doesn't count.
>> No. 375619
I speak English, Spanish, and Japanese, but I'm only barely passable at both Spanish and Japanese. I wouldn't say I'm fluent in either. But I can get the jist of what's being said when I read things, and sometimes I can understand things that are said to me in them.

Do sarcastic eyebrow motions and facial expressions count as a language?
>> No. 375628
Well, since spanish is my mother language, english count on this.
>> No. 375634
I speak l33t.
>> No. 375636
I've trained my friends and family to understand my grunts and facial expressions.
That's not even me trying to be funny, my family gets entire sentences out of my unintelligible mumbles. It's pretty impressive. I'm gonna count that.

I find if you live around anyone long enough, that happens. If I'm sitting in the living room, and someone's coming down the stairs, I can tell who it is and what mood they're in by their gait. (It helps that every person in my family is of a very different weight.)

I can do this without even seeing a person. I knew someone well enough at one point that if their Steam status said they were in a single-player Left4Dead game, it was a cue to immediately message them and to ask what was wrong, because they only did that when they were feeling depressed.

French (because I'm majoring in it).
>> No. 375659
I was offered a half-school-year language class in ninth grade that was divided a quarter year French and a quarter year Spanish, then had no other opportunities to take a language. Was even told I'd end up being too busy to write to my pen pal, if anything the idea that wouldn't was beaten into my head in an attempt to deter me form trying.

>> No. 375770

>> No. 375771
basic spanish with some ability to recognize other romance languages and latin
>> No. 375973
I know enough French to get food and lodging and to find directions in any francophone country, and maybe talk a little bit about comic books, but not much else.
Thanks to a terrible relationship, I also know just enough Mandarin to know vaguely when I'm being made fun of but not enough to respond in any meaningful way.
