Eh. This is going to be way too serious and "armchair psychologist" but...
Azula is a "Cluster B Personality Disorder" sampler, with some elements of Antisocial personality disorder, Borderline personality disorder, and Narcissistic personality disorder. It's not well studied, but it does look like people suffering from Cluster B disorders are less likely to be comfortably heterosexual, and more likely to be homosexual, bisexual, or suffering from a sexual interest/arousal disorder. Not something there's been a proper direct study of, however.
(My own pet theory is that it's likely to be something at an epigenetic level, where some people are genetically at risk of developing a Cluster B personality, and an inability to form what society considers a "normal relationship" puts them even more at risk).
Anyway, point was that she displays a bunch of traits we file under Cluster B, and crude indirect data seems to indicate that if you're cluster be you're less likely to be heterosexual, and more likely to be either homosexual, bisexual, or possessing little to no sex drive.
There, I've officially given this far too much thought.
