I believe season two has a lot of potential to fix the shortcomings of season one.

same, Book 1 was fun, but I felt it needed more writers and directors from the very beginning.

I'm not so sure.

Season One suffered from a number of spiritual (ironic) shortcomings, chief of which was the fanbase becoming disillusioned by the finale.

There's no taking that stuff back, and retconning it in any way would just make it more confusing for kids, the target audience.

Prepare for it to be swept under the rug and forgotten about in favor of a NEW AND MORE DANGEROUS ENEMY or something.

Book 2 has a lot of ground to cover to neutralize negativity from Book 1. And yet it is already held at gunpoint due to the two-part [History of the Avatar] that will air.

That could really be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Either it will explain too much and ruin the mystery, or leave us with half-answers and only fuel more people to make up more headcannons because of unsatisfactory explanations for why certain things are allowed in lineage and chance.

prepare for what to be swept under the rug exactly?

They're taking an amazingly dangerous chance by delving into the first Avatar without the original writing staff. They could alienate whatever audience they didn't piss off with Korra if they don't do it right, and none of this relationshit will ever be enjoyable anyway, for the simple reason that it's objectively uninteresting.

If Bryan and Mike actually care or understand anything about their own series, they'll retcon all of that crazy bullshit about airbending being tied to selflessness and Korra saving her forever girl and bending not being controlled by different styles of kung fu any more because for the first time in history benders from different nations talked to each other, apparently.

There will be no 'delving into the first Avatar without the original writing staff'. Book 2 is about Spirits and Spirit World fuckery now that Korra is enriching her spiritual side. Unless they unearth someone with a properly defined role like Wan Shi Tong, Hei Bai, or fuck with the Ocean Sprit/Yue, they have loads of free range to build up a new big bad hailing from the Spirit World.

Koh can even make an appearance without defiling much since he's shrouded in a mixture of mystery and Chaotic Neutralness. He only warned Aang that they will meet again.

>They could alienate whatever audience they didn't piss off with Korra if they don't do it right

This line is a load of bullshit. If Korra's audience was so pissed off during the first book why did it lead all networks in viewership in its timeslot even through the second half of the run? Why were there loads of cosplays at all the conventions held since the Book 1 finale? Why is there so much goddamn fanart? You gotta be shitting me.

New people who are only here for the shipping nonsense which was a bane of the first series and continues to be the bane of the second.

Holy run-on sentence Batman!

>If Bryan and Mike actually care or understand anything about their own series

Remember when Air Nomad Monks and Nuns were supposedly celibate until they confirmed they're not at a convention panel? FUCK THE MIKE AND BRYAN.

>they'll retcon all of that crazy bullshit about airbending being tied to selflessness

No. Airbending is a defensive style first, spiritual second due to all the meditating, and offensive last since its basic teachings are to avoid conflict whenever possible. Aang avoided conflict whenever possible. Korra loves to fight and craves control over her environment.

>and Korra saving her forever girl

lawl.

>and bending not being controlled by different styles of kung fu any more

*pro-bending* not just regular bending. Did you see Lin and Tenzin throw jabs at the mechatanks? Did Lin sprawl when she gutted the fuck out of the airships? What about IrohII and his based as fucking lightning zaps? Pro-bending is inspired by MMA, *Mixed-Martial-Arts*. It's supped to be a mish-mash of all styles in a quick compact form done for sport, just like IRL MMA.

Look at how UFC evolved from its inception in the 90's putting Sumo dudes vs. Karate, Judo, Kempo, Gung Fu, Boxers, and the rest of the gamut of fighting styles. What finally emerged was a prominent leaning toward Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which kept fights relatively safe and turned the bouts into give-and-take chess matches. Just like pro-bending on Korra. If you slip up once, your opponent can end you in the snap of their fingers.

>because for the first time in history benders from different nations talked to each other, apparently.

Iroh learned to redirect lightning from watching waterbenders.

Republic City is the first Avatar World CityState with inhabitants of all nations living under one government, founded by Aang, and something all future Avatars must protect.

Do you even watch this show?

I wish I could still use my tripcode so you would look appropriately ridiculous for this accusation. Oh well. I wish all of you Twilight-reading movie-acknowledging, tumblr-following, shipping enthusiasts would stop degrading the reputation of the fanbase for this series by enjoying it publicly. You really make it embarassing to like western animation at all with your monomania for playing paper doll games where you glue the characters 2-dimensional genitalia to each other and talk from the begging to the end of time about 1 thing and expect everyone else to just be cool with you ignoring all of the other, vastly more interesting, aspects of the series.

Fie upon thee.
>> No. 110572
Oh, and pro-bending was a fucking abomination; boring and pointless: that's a great way to waste 1/3rd of the screentime for a 240 minute series that already has deadly characterization problems.
>> No. 110573
The shipping obsession people displayed probably did hurt Korra's writing a lot more than it helped.

They were laying it on way too thick and they completely strangled the development of a lot of characters, and the triangle drama nonsense made the characters we were supposed to be rooting for look like a bunch of jackasses. Its completely inconceivable to me that Asami would ever actually stay friends with any of these cunts except maybe Bo

Speaking of pro-bending, it makes me wonder that in some point of development was The FF's 'coach' meant to be a more significant character?

That didn't really pan out in the series, for some reason that made me sad.

He likely would have been, but that was probably one of the things Bryke cut when they realized that they didn't have enough time to include him in any depth. LoK was overstuffed as it was, though.

I disagree with your hyperbole but those are all valid criticisms of the show
