Ugh I really hope they've got other choices

Porter is the only one I think even looks roughly equivalent.

They're saying that Buckley kid got the part.

I was rooting for Jensen Ackles, but he dropped out of the running because of scheduling conflicts

Whoever it is, they've got to have good chemistry with all the other Avengers.
Lord knows they will have their likeness drawn having sex with RDJ's Iron Man for months afterward over on /coq/

Jensen Ackles isn't very Capish to me.
He seems better suited to play Guy Gardner.
I was Rooting for Captain Awemerica

Sadly the only reason RDJ found himself in Tony is because the director said "fuck your nonsense its either him or nobody" and whomever the director is for this one won't have the brass to make that kind of stand.

I can't accept a Cap who doesn't look the same age as Iron man. If Cap looks like he's 20 every confrontation he has with Tony Stark will look like QUIET, BOY. GROWN UPS ARE TALKING.

Don't hate me for saying this, but I always wanted Matt Damon for the role. He's got the body for it when he wants to, has an all-american look, and would be able to handle both WW2 battle scenes and fish-out-of-water 21st century Cap.

The only big problem I could see with Matt Damon would be people not being able to get over the fact that he's Matt Damon.

Correct build, correct eyes, correct demeanor, someone needs to get Stan to endorse him. I mean hollywood wants to go "Young Cap" But really there has never been a Young Cap, once he had the serum administered he's been the same as always

I mean Valley naturally looks like Cap as RDJ naturally looks like Tony

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2010/02/captain-america-will-be-a-uso-performer-in-the-movie-director-says.html

>"The costume is a flag, but the way we're getting around that is we have Steve Rogers forced into the USO circuit. After he's made into this super-soldier, they decide they can't send him into combat and risk him getting killed. He's the only one and they can't make more. So they say, 'You're going to be in this USO show' and they give him a flag suit. He can't wait to get out of it."

>That's a whole new concept and it's one that sounds pretty promising. "It was never in the comics," Johnston said, "because they didn't really need it. In comics, he puts on the costume and the reader just justifies because of the nature of the medium.

>A challenge, he said, is finding an actor that can play scenes as "98-pound-weakling" Steve Rogers and also pull off the brawny hero scenes, although some visual effects wizardry will come into play

If they're talking about using CG for the weak Steve, then I'm okay with this. If using it for Cap, then abandon all hope.

>After he's made into this super-soldier, they decide they can't send him into combat and risk him getting killed.
Aw hell naw! That was the whole point in having a super-soldier! You make an unstoppable warrior, dress him up like a giant target with the stars and stripes, and he kicks all kinds of Nazi ass. Why would anyone care about some propaganda poster boy?

By the way, of course Captain America is valuable. But they weren't risking losing him by sending him into battle because he's just that awesome no one doubted he'd come back alive.

I advise you all do the same.
