occasionally something happens, be it death or disagreement, and a gap left in a band. sometimes the band will choose to fill the gap and replace the former member. example pic is this done right
pic is an example of doing it very, very wrong. so i put this to you: what have been the best/worst example replacement band member replacement?
pic related is the only one I can think of, and I don't even listen to Metallica, so I don't know if it was a good or a bad thing. Bands I listen to are either one-man-gigs or just don't live that dangerously, I guess. Though even if it's not entirely on topic I still hate, hate, hate that whore who made the Black Eyed Peas the musical shit stain that they are now.
Worst example I can think of at the moment: Iced Earth. Jon is apparently impossible to work with, and has no problem making his (past/present/future) bandmates go through revolving doors.
One of the best examples: Motorhead Lemmy is, for all intents and purposes, Motorhead. However, each incarnation of the band, from Eddie & Philthy to Phil & Mikkey and all the Wurzels and Robbos in between have left their respective, significant imprints on the band's sound and history. They are all equally awesome in their own right, but different enough to keep things fresh.
There have been so many members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers that they have their own wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Red_Hot_Chili_Peppers_band_members
Replacing your whole band is a good idea, right guys? Even Buckethead couldn't save you, and how dare you call that band Guns 'n Roses at all.
