Shit like this is why genetic engineering is so stigmatized. The entertainment industry keeps playing up "science = evil" because it sells, and it turns into a vicious cycle. If we're going to progress in this field at all we need to do away with this whole bullshit mentality.
>Survival of the Dead
>Del Toro steps down from directing The Hobbit
He's at least gonna stick around to finish writing the script, plus with all the pre-production stuff that's been done while he was heading the project, some of that shit might get retained.
>del Toro may actually do one of the other movies on his plate
oh that is some bullshit.
Oh relax. Scientists and those who fund them know the difference between Sci fi and reality.
Yeah, but the problem is that the general populace keeps getting fed this crap and don't bother to actually learn the first thing about genetic engineering, so they do all they can to keep said scientists from doing their job.
I pity the world's first parahuman, because at this rate the odds are good that he or she is going to be stoned to death.

>I'm the only person on earth who likes Batman Begins more than The Dark Knight
There are some elements I certainly liked more, like how Batman's exact nature was much more mysterious to everyone.
I like Dark Knight more, put there is one scene in Batman Begins that I think is the best thing Nolan ever did with Batman.

Last night's episode was okay, but there were some parts I really loved. Hopefully it'll get better further on in the season. I am excited to meet Alcide, but I will not be able to handle Tara being annoying all season. She was awesome in Season 1... idk what happened
Okay... that first green text has me stumbling and going 'wut?' in general.
Also, as fabulous as Lafayette is, I am pissed his ass is still alive. They took a few too many liberties with the second book for my taste. Hoping Alcide is cool, but how the hell Tara is supposed to end up in the nightclub is going to take some explanations.
Think of it as AU true blood. And IIRC, Tara was pretty annoying the entire book anyway. I just can't wait until Quinn. And amnesiac Eric.
>new Cat Empire album next week
Alan Ball pretty much made it so that he can do whatever the hell he wants. He isn't following the books too closely, but he has Charlaine Harris's blessing so I'm enjoying it a lot.
And I love Laffy :'(
>Finding out other people like Batman Begins more than The Dark Knight
>listening to the new Grand Magus while walking up a mountain.
>"Northern Star" in particular
I kind of do too, although it's partly because I got burned out seeing TDK twice in the opening weekend.
Well, like I said, I DO like how fabulous Lafayette is, mostly I'm just really bothered by how the Maenad story was twisted in Season 2. I felt it was a serious misstep.
But oh yes, Quinn is going to be fucking AWESOME. And for that matter, I'm looking forward to when we finally get to the Queen of Louisianna too.
Hmm... actually, while I'm thinking of it, have they touched at all on Sookie's Fairy Godmother? That becomes something of a plot point later after all.

>Jim Parsons won an Emmy for "Lead Actor in a Comedy" for his work on Big Bang Theory.
Is this a joke?
The Emmys are a joke, I mean does anyone actually consider an Emmy award some sort of seal of artistic integrity? It's just a popularity game, if it was about quality The Wire would have won every season, except for maybe a few wins back and forth with The Sopranos.
And as for the comedy category, everything is so generic who cares who wins.
oh boohoo the wire didnt win hundreds f awards its just a fucking crime show they dont win awards because theyre generic
breaking bad and mad men clean up every year both are infinitely better than the wire ever was.
deal w/ it
>implying Community didn't deserve to go home victorious
I think you're thinking of the Law & Order franchises. The Wire was groundbreaking and immensely complex with interwoven plots and storytelling, perhaps you took a dabble in one episode or less and it was too over your head or real. Or perhaps you're 12, either way.

THAT WAS THE WORST HOUR OF TELEVISION I HAVE EVER SUBJECTED MYSELF TO.
Oh please that was no where near as bad as you seem to think it is.
No, it really was, outside of Davros' occasional insane rants.
It really wasn't that bad. Beyond Rose getting a fairy tale ending with Human!Doc while Donna got fucked up the ass. That was just terrible.
That was without question the worst part (although frankly I question the 'fairy tail ending' part. He just dumped her with his clone, told her to reform it, and never so much as asked how she felt about doing so. What a douche)
The rest of it that was not Davros being a crazy person was also terrible.

On a side note I did like the scene with Jules over hearing him in the FBI van.

With no apparent general thread (on the first page, at least), I will treat this as one.
Bought the new Linkin Park CD, and boy am I disappointed. Minutes to Midnight trended towards heavy rock/hip-hop compared to their earlier CDs, and I loved it. This goes more towards grunge, with a lot of soap-box standing on it. There are maybe two or three good songs; hell, half the songs don't break two minutes. It's like NIN's Ghost, but you can't get the first part free.
