Anyone else love the fuck out of this movie?

And by that, I mean was anyone else emotionally disturbed by it?

And did anyone else cry at the end?

I was too fucking disturbed to but I will note that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was pretty hot in a lot of scenes. I really wanted to know what happened after the ending though.

Castlevania (2011)

Symphony of the Night was unintenionally funny becuase of the horrible voice acting...which thankfully they changed for the upgrade two years ago. of course the voices are legendary campy now but a film cannot be this bad.

Also- there have been far too many "campy" Dracula movies than serious ones...look at the Universal one, Bram Stoker's Dracula could be considered campy and Van Helsing is the ultimate cheese-fest with the campiest Dracula i've ever seen.

This movie needs to take it seriously.

that was thrown out the window when, I think, some horror director got an interest in it...Eli Roth? Or the original Saw guys? Some dudes like that. I can't remember. I just recall that they wanted to bring back the whip because of the kind of weird "bondage" aspect to it. Brrr.

Simon wrapping it around leather clad Vampires and thrusting?

No.19423
I think the problem with taking Dracula seriously has more to do with Drac being stuck in this pop culture rut where people are more likely to remember Lugosi's and Lee's take on the role than anything else. Despite its flaws, Coppola's take on the tale was probably the most legitimate attempt of recent memory to give him dramatic weight. Van Helsing could be excused since it was pretty much an out and out summer action flick.

I need a good Bon Voyage song in a big damn hurry, my best friend is leaving New York to work in Hawaii for half a year, we're going to be at this jam session at our favorite bar a few days before she goes so I got to get on stage for a good song to wish her well.

BUT I DON'T KNOW ANY FAREWELL SONGS BUT THIS ONE AND THAT AIN'T GONNA CUT IT!

HEEEEELLLLLP!

Round here, bro, but still. MF DOOM is terrible even in the context of "shit music for nerds". In an overall hiphop perspective, he's just... a dude who makes decent beats and outerspace lyrics delivered in the most boring manner possible.

>Then the discussion turned to how old Marion and Indy were at the time of the affair:

>G — I was thinking that this old guy could have been his mentor. He could have known this little girl when she was just a kid. Had an affair with her when she was eleven.

>L — And he was forty-two.

>G — He hasn't seen her in twelve years. Now she's twenty-two. It's a real strange relationship.

>S — She had better be older than twenty-two.

>G — He's thirty-five, and he knew her ten years ago when he was twenty-five and she was only twelve. It would be amusing to make her slightly young at the time.

This is nothing new to me.

No.19357
Eh. Shenanigans on this theory. There's a 9 year difference between Indy and Marion. And he surely wouldn't have met her until his doctorate years, so it's maybe a case of 15 and 24. And that's assuming he was paying any attention to her rather than focusing on school. I think it's safe to say he didn't pay her any mind until he got tenure. So she was probably at least 17 or 18.

I've only gotten about halfway through it, but I feel the same way. A bit harder than their previous stuff, but hey, I'll probably get used to it over time.

Haven't heard Battle Cry yet, but I loved Skeletons On Parade.

Same anon from >>19305. Let's try this again without repeating the lyrics where they aren't supposed to. The best lyrics from Battle Cry:

And we'll lead the dreams
Until they die inside
We'll raise their kids
And commandeer their wives
We'll curse their gods
And drink up all their wine

BADASS

agreed

No.19302
Machete was decent, aside from the shots that were from the trailer looking awkwardly edited into the final cut (especially the mini-gun motorcycle bit) and the climax being a bit meh in some parts.

No.19313
I liked it. It did exactly what I wanted it to do even if those trailer bits were kinda awkwardly edited in. My only issue is that Rodriguez could've stood to use some more actual blood-stains here and there instead of just the CG stuff. It was really weird seeing a blood stain kinda wobble around a bit on the big-screen.
