didn't see one so, here.
I was hoping for a place to post this.
I just had a terrible idea the other day. A Batman-themed dating-sim/harem anime. I'm not sure whether it's an idea so terrible it's awesome or so terrible it's just plain terrible.
>>37833 LET THIS CHEER YOU UP! Because it sure as hell cheered me up today!
>>37833 I once set out to make a harem anime based off of Batman; the entire premise was designed to be as terribad as possible. It was about the young heir to a rich family whose parents are murdered, and in their will he is mandated to stay at a boarding school for clinically insane young women. I had ridiculous Japanized names for everyone, but I forget them. Joker was the most obvious in terms of crushing on Bruce, but usually expressed this affection by playing pranks on him. Riddler was a tsundere meganeko who was all, "Stupid Bruce-san I'm smarter than you!" Two-Face alternated between a shy and sweet personality and one that was likely to stab you with a pencil. I think Catwoman may have been in there too as a childhood friend of Bruce who came to visit. It was gloriously horrible, but then I got bored with it and you were all spared the knowledge of its existence. UNTIL NOW!
>>37830 Awesome fanart is awesome.
>>37837 Huh, and here I was thinking of using mostly the girls in his life and Dick as a possible Yoai love-interest. The male villains as dates would be alot funnier.
>trawling TV Tropes, nothing to see h- >"Some commentators have described Twilight as the Western, heterosexual equivalent of yaoi manga in its relationship dynamics, and it's fairly common to give the Uke moe qualities, So Yeah."
>>37897 I compared it to Inuyasha myself.
>>37902 But Inuyasha has points where it is actually GOOD.
>>37897 95% of Yaoi are just Japanese bodice rippers with more dicks, anyway.
>>37903
So I'm finally caught up on Full-Metal Alchemist. GOD DAMMIT THERE BETTER BE A HAPPY ENDING FOR EVERYONE
>>37833 I know just the guy to write it.
>>37917 I lol'd
You know, I think I liked Trigun better when it was a comedy.
I have just learned that Dan Green has dubbed hentai.
>>38024 He also did some voices for the Brazillian Pixar and Dreamworks film knock-offs, including the main character of The Little Panda Warrior.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-02-22/bandai-ent-adds-code-geass/knights-and-queens-manga This brings us to a grand total of SEVEN Geass manga.
Just read Double Arts.
Why was I not informed that Nana to Kaoru was the greatest manga of all time?
>>38049 I was skeptical, but now Anon is shallowly pleased with this development. Pic related.
>>38024 Oh god... Can you name any right now?
>>38062 Wait... that sounds familiar... where have I OH! OH! It's indeed pretty good.
Negima continued: HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT
>>38135 NODOKA IS CREDIT TO TEAM.

>>38175 You're good people, Mr. Koiwai.
FINALLY we're getting to the part everyone's been waiting for!
Stepfather/daughter bonding ftw. ;_;
>>38194 Ok now I'm confused. Just how am I supposed to be feeling right now? I dunno if this is really nsfw, just took a guess.
>Latest Kodomo no Jikan chapter
>>38194 >>38195 Why do people in Shoujo always look like heroin addicts?
>>38211 Yes it's yet another chapter of "The Forgotten Narrative."
I'll just leave this here.
>>38213 I don't know, why do all the men in shonen have freaky musculature and no nipples?
>>38232 damn it, from the thumbnail I saw the dog as a muscular furry lying down. And now you can't unsee it either.
>>38231 DEM LEGS
[12:15:50 AM] Dagda: . . .Ok, seriously, I LOVE Air Gear [12:16:29 AM] Dagda: That same team battle, right? [12:17:52 AM] Dagda: Turns out the battle conditions are to grab this one balloon that's drifting upwards, won't get into the details but the hero's team manages to send one of their team members up after the balloon while everyone else takes on/distracts the enemy team. [12:18:55 AM] Dagda: Specifically, they send the least experienced member, who was one of Those Two Girls until she got fed up standing on the sidelines for her love interest. [12:20:02 AM] Dagda: Other team eventually gets wise. They try to go after her (though she has a massive lead). Hero team manages to hold all of them back- except the enemy leader, the strongest guy, wasn't caught after all. Cut back to the girl, who's about to jump out into space...
[12:20:45 AM] Dagda: And then OH HEY THE END BOSS IS SUDDENLY STANDING IN HER WAY [12:21:15 AM] Dagda: From there. . .keep reading.
Also, this. From a flashback explaining a side character's motivations.
>>38280 There is not a single panel on that page that I can decipher the meaning of. Is it just that I'm missing context, or what?
>>38287 It's Oh!Great. There is no meaning. Only titties.
>>38287 In the first panel she's reflexively tried to stop moving forwards (towards the end boss) by dropping flat on the ground. Then we're seeing her scramble in the opposite direction in a clumsy, panicked fashion.
Oh Koiwai, you magnificient bastard!

>>38379 ... I had totally forgotten about the fake planet namek filler.
>>38379 Are they ALL William Street fans?
General /jam/ thread question! What torrent program do you guys use?
>>38410 µtorrent, what else?
>>38411 How about something that isn't shit, like Vuze?
>>38412 >Vuze >Not shit
>>38413 >Download six programs in utorrent >only 1 succeeds >download six in Vuze >all succeed Sure thing buddy.
>>38414 ...you do know how BitTorrent works, right?
>>38415>>38414>>38413>>38412>>38411 Trolls trolling trolls etc Personally, I use Vuze, just because it's what I was first recommended, and it gets the job done when I need it. I don't torrent much.
>>38416 Vuze will get the job done, but it's a huge systems hog. There is no reason it should consume nearly that much RAM.
>>38411 thanks for the utorrent suggestion. quick and easy. that's what she said
Where the hell did the Durarara!! thread go!? Whatever. I just gotta say: holy fucking shit, if this series has one thing on Baccano!, it's the fucking music. It is God Tier level, my god. Also, Walker and Erika are basically psychotic otaku Isaac and Miria. You should be watching this show, /jam/.
>>38444 I think it and a at least one other thread (the last Naruto one) were accidentally deleted by a server error.
>>38445 Well, that's unfortunate. But seriously, /jam/. Walker and Erika are a crazy Isaac and Miria and it makes them so stupidly amazing. They tone down their crazy in the anime, but in the manga... Oh my yes.
>>38446 Which reminds me, the Baccano manga sucked, how is the Durara one?
>>38447 Much better! It runs fairly parallel with the anime, but they keep some of the darker aspects that the anime seems to try to brush off (Maybe because Baccano! was SO dark? Must consider further). Izaya's appropriately insane and, like I said, Erika and Walker are actually creepy. Stuff like that. Chapters 1-9 are up on OneManga now, so give it a read. The art's much better too. (Also, fun fact: Izaya and Shizuo are what happens when Ladd's a good guy and Claire's the bad guy.)
>>38448 >(Also, fun fact: Izaya and Shizuo are what happens when Ladd's a good guy and Claire's the bad guy.) Another fun fact, they're both "good guys". They just dont get along.
>>38453 Okay, so maybe Izaya's not a bad guy, but I sure as hell wouldn't call him a good guy. He's Chaotic Asshole or something.
>>38392 Well, YGO got the Mooninites, it's only fair that DBZ gets the Plutonians.
>>38455 Well they are as good as your going get. Especially since They're both Dollars
Asmodeus, huh? Is she paired with a Marvel superhero too? >>38379 Oh, no wonder! I've just been watching their YouTube channel like a dweeb.
http://stfubitches.deviantart.com/ EVERYONE CHECK THIS OUT BEFORE IT GETS DELETED
>>38843 I.........don't get it, what was supposed to be there?
>>38860 Porn. So much anime porn.
Live action cast for Kimi ni Todoke confirmed. God damn, Yano and Ryu are FUCKING PERFECT!
>>39047 OH MY GOD SOMEONE ON THIS BOARD OTHER THAN ME READS KIMI NI TODOKE h-hi!
>>39051 And hi back to you. Have you checked Mango Scans' site recently? By the looks of the status page we will have a triple release next. CAN'T FUCKING WAIT! I'll burn with the rage of a thousand suns, if Kazehaya doesn't confess in those, though.
>>39060 God I hope so too, but faffing about and getting nowhere is romantic shoujo's MO.
>>39074 But where else could they possibly take this?! Sawako already confessed. All that is left is for Kazehaya to reply to her feelings and then we get into sweet, sweet awkward first couple mode (still with so many misunderstandings and sparkles and bubbles and Ryu being Ryu, of course.).
>Mahou Sensei Negima! Chapter 282 where doing this man where making this happen
>>39132 >where
>Marley is set to appear in DP168, where a Shaymin is involved. FUUUCK YEAH! TODAY IS A GOOD DAY.
>"So, why do you hate the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime so much?" >"IT'S SO DIFFERENT FROM THE MANGA" >"But...the director's didn't have enough to work with at the time, and Hiromu Arakawa encouraged/told them to expand it and make it different from the original, so of course it was going to be an entirely diff-" >"FUCK THAT IT'S STILL STUPID EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS STUPID IT'S DIFFERENT IT SUCKS"
>>39140 To be fair, a lot of it WAS really stupid.
>>39140 Don't forget all the extra drama.
>>39142 Need more drama? Just add rape!
>>39143 Yeah that was the one thing that pissed me off the most about the first anime. That was so goddamned unnecessary.
>>39140 The first FMA anime had its faults, but I loved it anyway. To this day it's one of my favorite series of all time.
>>39145 The way I see the first anime series is that even though I'm not fond of it my own self, I can absolutely understand how people would. But, as an adaptation, it's a complete failure. It is so opposite of the spirit of the source material, and was reworked to be so right from the first episode.
>>39142 In the context of the manga, yes, there would have been a lot of unnecessary, extra drama. Almost from the outset, the first anime had a darker tone, so it makes sense for more and more horrible things to happen. Everything would have been worse if they had tacked on a happy ending or retconned all the bad shit. It's a different story with different characters (never mind if they have the same names and faces as people in the manga, I think Envy has proved that a physical resemblance ultimately means nothing...) and thus different plot points and conclusions. Besides, it's not so much extra drama as it is a different kind of drama. "Holy shit GANG RAPE" and "Are the homunculi human?" vs. "my alchemy is superior" and "FATHER ATE THE COUNTRY" That said, the manga better have a happy ending or I'm going to cry. >>39141 ...yeah, Terminator Archer was just hilarious. FMA is my favorite anime, but goddamn it has its flaws. Most of it was fuckawesomely engaging and entertaining...except for the occasional moment like that.
>>39148 I have to agree with this. Even though it's really different from the manga (which I also like) I think the anime was incredibly engaging and well-directed throughout. And Robo-Archer is extra funny considering that he probably just lost half of his face, but it's hard not to think of it as him losing half of his brain and somehow surviving.
Also, I think we can all agree that Conqueror of Shamballa was godawful.
>>39151 Oh, absolutely.
>>39151 No, but I don't really care enough to talk about this (anticipating next five posts to be people saying I have no taste).
Wow, uh, that's...that's a little...uh...
>>39155 Also, why isn't Pitou having a long-distance freakout at the King getting nuked, like the other two did?
>>39151 I didn't hate it, but was not satisfied by it.
>>39151 Story and main villain needed work, but everything else was awesome. All the little nods to history just made me cackle with glee. The Beer Hall Putsch? Fritz Lang? An irate WWI veteran ranting about the Treaty of Versailles? The Four Seasons Hotel? GLORIOUS. Also, the fight between Wrath and Gluttony. DAT ANIMATION.
Students should be transferring from this school by the busload! Gekkokan High didn't have it this bad.
>>39151 Yeah, pretty much. Like >>39170 said, the fight between Wrath and Gluttony was pretty boss, but on the whole I didn't like it.
So, I heard the josei genre was filled with smut. Can someone direct me to some good series chock full of pornness? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but I can't find any. And I want me some lady-directed porn.
>>39339 I dunno, the only Josei I read is Nodame Cantabile, and the closest that ever gets to porn is a piano repairman (I think) playing a little tune to remind them UH YEAH, I'M STILL HERE, IN THE NEXT ROOM, I CAN'T LEAVE WHILE YOU'RE DOING THAT IN THERE when they get a little caught up in the moment.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-03-15/madhouse-announces-new-series-based-off-of-cult-hit- game-series-jet-set-radio >In a surprise announcement, Mahouse announced that an anime series based off of the Smilebit games Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future is in pre-production. >>39380 See >>39379 I'm expecting this to be a reply to another deleted post in a couple minutes.
I just finished scanlating the newest Soul Eater chapter. Feels good, man.
Holy shit. Why didn't anyone tell me Black Lagoon had a brain? Everything you hear/see always focuses on the ridiculous gunplay and general aesthetic style. I did *not* expect to get a deep examination of the modern third world's shades of grey and the motivations of those involved.
>>39382
>>39383 You get to Hansel and Gretel yet?
GO READ YOUR MONTHLY DOSE OF DIABETES
>>39390 I'm fully up-to-date on the manga. What's shocking me is the kind of thing you see in moments like this one, or the interactions between heads of different underworld groups. It's so rare to have a story that's set in a black and grey world while still wrestling with moral questions (and avoiding easy answers such as having one side of the debate be a strawman or letting the hero be powerful enough that they don't have to make a hard choice after all).
>>Cage of Eden Damn it, stop making me rage every other chapter... Awesome prehistoric animals are awesome, though.
I'm reading Otoyomegatari right now. Good stuff.
HOLY SHIT. THE FUTURE ARC IS OVER IN REBORN. FUCK YES FINALLY. AND WE TOTALLY GOT GYP'D OUT OF SEEING TYL!TSUNA. FUCK YOU, AMANO. Also: can we PLEASE have a story arc about the Future!Guardians now? Holy shit, look at them, they are so much cooler than the normal Guardians. Motherfuck. I mean, shit, Mukuro is out of prison and running around with "I WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD" practically displayed over his head. The Future Guardians have their rings back... Come on, this would be awesome D:<
>Serebii has screencaps of today's new episooode~
FINALLY!
>>39711 AAAAAAAHHHHH YEEESSSSSS I am totally way too happy about this. I can totally empathize with the author saying she thinks of Sawako as her granddaughter - I read the chapters and realized I was going 'awww my little girl found herself such a nice young man oh they grow up so fast ;_;'
I have realized my love of Reborn! comes in violent fluctuations. Sometimes I hate it so much I routinely pray Amano dies in a fire or at least is beaten violently until she learns how to goddamn write, and then she pulls shit like the latest chapter where everything actually wraps up so nicely and sets itself up perfectly for MUKURO IS THE FINAL BOSS OF REBORN! Arc which is what I have wanted since... uh... well, the last time Mukuro was a villain. I wanna see his little fangirls get knocked down a notch. And see? Just like that it's "oh god ilu reborn" Maybe it's just because Amano had the sense to end the fucking Future Arc when it started to drag. The Byakuran fight was INFINITELY shorter than the Xanxus fight and I know it's because Amano realized "oh wow this is going on forever kay let's wrap this shit up nice and quicklike" Unlike... say... Bleach and One Piece. So yeah. For now, it's back to Fuck Yeah Reborn. But I swear to god, if there IS a Mukuro's-the-fucking-bad-guy Arc, he better die and not get some bullshit villain redemption shit. If Tsuna can vaporize Byakuran, he can beat the living shit out of Mukuro.
...Oh hey, I just remembered my bro let me borrow five Lupin the 3rd movies. ...Guess I'm gonna go watch 'em.
Watching Voyage to Danger now. Jigen keeps lighting cigarettes and firing his gun (and teaching the beautiful professor lady how to fire his gun) inside a nuclear submarine. And then the antagonist Keith Aden fired a bunch of missiles at a nuclear submarine from his helicopter. He brought a helicopter to track down a submarine. A nuclear one.
>>39800 You're complaining about logic. In a Lupin the 3rd movie. That's your problem right there, bro.
Great manga, or greatest manga? (Sorry for hyooge.)
>>39853 Great manga.
In One Piece, telling someone your sob story history typically equals redemption and thus friendship. Hell, that's a fairly common trope in shonen in general.
>>39878 In Reborn, defeat means Xanxus blows your fucking brains out and then gives you to his faggot henchman to bring you back to life and then probably rape you to death. And nobody but the hero gives a shit.
>>39879 How very ~edgy~.
>>39880 except it's not really played up as edgy at all because immediately after things are right back to YAY WE BEAT THE BADGUY BE HAPPY~ that's why it's hilarious. sometimes i don't know if amano is being serious or not and it's wonderful.
I'm practically turning this into a Reborn! thread but WHATEVER: WEEEEE NEW PEOPLE OH GOD PRETTY ART WHERE ARE MY TRANSLATIONS but seriously amano why is your art always so pretty and why don't you believe in decompression arcs i am not even kidding you guys. she finshes the tyl arc and then is apparently booting out asses right into a new arc like ASAP. c'mooooooooon villain mukuro...
>>39856
>>39955 >Someone would willingly read Kodomo no Jikan
...wow it's been like forever since we got KHR high school shenanigans and now we got shenanigans ALL UP IN THIS SHIT. also: Yamamoto still adorkable news at 11.
>>40005 Tall Chick is tall, and obviously forshadowy.
>>40006 If she does end up being a bad guy (likelyhood: high), I want her to fight Hibari and I want it to be the meanest knock-down-drag-out one-on-one slugfest ever. Is that gonna happen? Hell no. But a girl can dream.
My brother put in DRAGON OF DOOM and says Lupin reminds him of Bugs Bunny. Blew my mind.
>>40032 Seriously? Calling him the Japanese Bugs Bunny is a fairly common descriptor.
>>40047 I've never heard it before. It was still surprising.
>>40005 Seriously Nurse, even if it's just you and Hal, you should feel free to make a Reborn thread or bump an existing one.
>>39995 What have you got against it? I like it.
>>40056 The part where the lolicon fanservice has pretty much completely replaced the narrative.
>>40057 Fair point. I wouldn't say it's completely replaced it, but there has been a pretty large rise in the amount of fanservice the past ten or so chapters. That said, the plot is at least still moving forward, if somewhat more slowly that before.
I'll just leave these here
Ready for tits, gore and right-wing propaganda all neatly packed into an entertaining piece of zombie apocalypse? Looks like it'll get godly animation.
>>40181 Wait have enough chapters come out that it warranted an anime?! HOLY SHIT! I BETTER GO PLAY CATCH UP THEN!
>>40176>>40177>>40178 I recognize Doraemon, Gege no Kitaro, Saint Seiya, Violence Jack, Fist of the North Star, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Dragon Ball and Devilman. I'm guessing the I HAVE NO LICENSE! is Spawn
>>40176 Tedukas?
>>40188 I didn't name the images they came that way for whatever reason.
>>40176 Bottom left looks like the style from Toriko.
>>40200 99 percent sure it's Violence Jack
This manga is so heartwarming!
>>40206 do what now?
>>40208 Huh?
>>40210 My goofy way of going "sauce" I guess.
>>40211 Ah, I see. It's from Otaku no Musume-san, the manga about the otaku who banged a girl in high school and (unknowingly) got her pregnant. Nine years later, her irresponsible mother drops their daughter off to live with him while she hides from debt collectors, and he suddenly has to take on the role of father as best he can. It's extremely sweet. http://www.onemanga.com/Otaku_no_Musume-san/
I found a thing.
>>40424 That reminds me: I am unreasonably excited for Paint It White. Also, why did I only just find out jiuge is a huge fan and has been churning out fancomics and content like whoa?
>Read all of Berserk >instantly move on to Vinland Saga Not nearly as good, but I'm enjoying it.
Speaking of Vinland Saga, after all the badass Viking battles and chases and political intrigue chapters like "Thorfinn and Einar walk around and decide they need a horse" feel supremely weird to read. What are you guys doing, go out and kill something.
>>40540 I'm caught up now and entirely agree. Also for something called "Vinland Saga" we haven't seen much of VINLAND. Then again, most of the story up to this point was apparently just the prologue.
>>40546 For me it always seemed like Vinland has more to do with the ~*TRUE WARRIOR*~ enlightenment than the actual place. Vinland is to Thorfinn as Avalon was to Askeladd, sort of thing.
>>40540 I don't agree. For me, these chapters are abotu Thorfinn having to come to terms with the fact that, basically, there is life after Askelaad.
So after Berserk and Vinland Saga, what next? I was torn for awhile, but someone sold me on Blaster Knuckle as "Berserk, except about a black guy fighting the KKK" which may very well be the best thing ever.
>>40565 From what I've heard, Claymore is basically a rule 63'd Berserk. Still need to read it myself.
>>40566 Sort of. It's less GOD IS A DICK and more SCIENCE though.
>>40566 Except shitty and boring.
>>40569 Why would you say that? I mean, assuming you decided to act like a bag full of dicks for any other reason than adding nothing to the conversation as a bid for pointless flamebaiting.
>>40570 Because Claymore IS like Rule 63 Berserk, except shitty and boring?
>>40573 >shitty and boring Say it again, but this time be smart about it. Elaborate, use examples, support your opinion.
>>40574 It's just less ballsy and without Berserk's signature, highly-detailed art or excellent visual storytelling.
>>40575 Much better. Now I can better relate with your viewpoint.
>>40574 >>40575 >>40576 The magic of actual discourse!
Now that /op/ is up at the top bar, we can remove the sticky here.
I read the RBG and Yellow parts of Pokemon Special a few months back, and just downloaded GSC, which I'm reading right now. Gold's pokemon have the worst nicknames ever.
>>40682 But they are also the best and badassest of them all. If you've gotten to the Goldenrod section of the story you know what I'm on about.
>>40682 At least he has a better specialty than Silver.
FUCK YEAH
>>40709 What time is it? IT'S EERILY ACCURATE AMV TIME! where the song fits so well your jaw drops. Here is my first meager effort, MATCH IT! SURPASS IT! Or not, whatever.
>>40713 All up in it.
>>40713
Slow burn with this one. Got another great one that's the same way, but surprisingly it's not on youtube- guess I'll have to do it.
Oh, also, not only is this song perfect for this entire series, the two songs it's made up of are perfect for each other. So that's, like, triple bonus points.
Aight, here you are.
>>40720 Who needs Bleach set to Kamleot when you can have Bastard!! instead?
>>40731 1) Kamelot makes music you'd expect to be set to crazy ass fantasy awesomness. 2) Holy shit holy shit i have to get my hands on the Bastard!! anime.
>>40735 Don't get your hopes up, I mean it was cool enough while it lasted but someone (I forget who tbh) got arrested and the OVAs never got finished.
>>40738 Oh. ... The manga then. But for right now PRINCESS TUTU UP IN THIS BITCH! You've probably seen an image that compares this series to Ninjas fighting with Guitars. Now it's time for you to see it for yourself. Now there's a spoiler warning from the poster so... yeah heads up for that.
Please to ignore the intro... the rest of the video is actually pretty awesome.
>>40740 Everyone should read Bastard. It's Berserk starring Rance.

wat
>>40752 What.
>>40755 Long story short, the protagonist's a loony.
Hetalia World Series is looking pretty good. I am immensely pleased by the promise of more Gilbo.
>>40773 I just heard Funimation is doing Hetalia for US and Canada. I'm so happy because I never thought it would get dubbed in English, and I'm interested to see how they do it.
>>40774 Oh yeah, I heard that too. I'm not a fan of dubs, but fingers crossed! Also, this episode is so goddamned moe I died of a d'awwgasm.
Color me excited.
Uh...no shit?
>>40889
>>40889 The twist being that the mindless animal we've been seeing wasn't even a lobotomized version of the man- just a well-preserved corpse on puppet strings.
>>40892 ...and? I was under the impression that this was the basic premise everyone was operating on. I mean, we saw Pitou with the dude's head off. He said he was dead. I don't know why this is supposed to be a big reveal.
Queen's Blade artist F.S., I'm starting to wonder if you've ever actually owned an ankle.

New Double K!
>>41108
Okay, what the shit is going on Mangafox? Several of the series I had booked marked have been apparently turned off because they were deemed too mature. Now you had that mature tag on there before then I'd click on it and continue reading. NOW I CAN'T! WHAT THE HELL DAMN GUY?!
You are not prepared for what you're about to see and hear. but I'm giving it to you anyway.
>Hunter x Hunter 305 Good, Gon, you look kind of utterly terrifying!
>>41206 And yet the super sketch spectacular is incredibly noticeable this chapter. Good thing the story is still good.
>>41206 Yeah I basically can't wait until this is over. At least he's not acting grossly out of character anymore.
>Dorohedoro
Has anyone seen "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" yet? I want to know if it'll be worth my time to look for it or wait until the "subs of the crappy dub" version that'll come out on dvd sometime after May.
>>41226 It's good, but wait for the DVDrip.
Dayum.
I just watched Akira. Is there... is there some sort of support group I can join?
>>41232 No, but I can prescribe you some medicine: READ THE FUCKING MANGA
>>41232 Haha I still remember my first time. I was, like, 12 and up at 3 AM watching Action Network. Showed a bunch of old, uneditted anime and shit, and I only caught the last... 30ish minutes. Yeah no i have no idea what happened but I am goddamn certain i blacked out immediately after. my poor little mind shorted out for a while and when i came too, i was damn certain i had been changed for good. Seriously what the fuck that is not the the sort of thing tiny impressionable minds should EVER be exposed too. :|
>>41237 Yeah, its awesome! Trust us on that!
>>41247 >>41237 Can anyone direct me to an online source?
>>41249 You can find the Akira manga just about anywhere. I read it in the library.
I don't like the actual series all that much, but goddamn Venus Versus Virus is a great alliteration. Fun to say out loud, too.
>Katanagatari 04
Did anyone read farther into the Yu-Gi-Oh GX manga than I did? I mostly just wanna know if Sartorious showed up, and if he ever summoned The World. For parody purposes.
Man, I really need to get rid of my Astro Boy DVD - it's not that it's bad or anything, it's just that I can't play it on any of the DVD players, only on the PC (and even then, it's groaning like it's trying to play a dozen video games at once).
So I made a thread on /cog/ to brainstorm about a very /jam/-relevant tabletop RPG setting. >It's pretty straighforward. You know what Baccano, Black Lagoon, Hellsing and the parallel-universe in the first FMA anime have in common? >They're all set in this world. The thread's at http://plus4chan.org/boards/cog/res/77260.html . I'd love to hear any thoughts you guys would have to contribute; it's fine if you don't have any background on game mechanics and just want to chat fiction.
>Watching Patlabor This is the greatest series ever.
Oh my god, are you fucking serious? This is some stupid-ass shit.
>>41436 Good Gon, you look sort of Fist of the North Star.
>>41436>>41438 Personally, I'm freaking out here. This is messed up in a very deliberate way.
>>41436 Vegeta/Benimaru/Kenishiro hybrid is go
>>41440 Complete with shitty anatomy. Those legs are fucking bent backwards!
Code Geass is now at 7 manga, 3 anime projects, several light novels, 3 video games, and a fuckton of merch.
>>41447 And it is all horseshit
>>41451 First season and Lost Colors are alright, same with some of the extra stuff like Sayoko's Diaries, but it's mostly pretty stupid. New anime sounds like Code Geass 08th MS Team.
>>41144 Now how am I supposed to get my Yuria 100 Shiki fix?
>>41453 08th MS Team was awesome.
>>41463 EXACTLY

Way to go T4!
>Heart-Pounding Excitement at Mononoke Girls' Academy It has my three favorite things: semi-obscure mythological references, lesbian shenanigans, and humor derived from both of them!
>>41479 And DONE! It was good but in the end I meh'd...
>Fuck yeah, new Vinland Saga! >Oh dear, it's over already? And basically nothing happened either... I love Vinland Saga, but I hate how it's no longer than the average weekly series despite being monthly. Sekirei has that problem too...
>>41524 Speaking of Sekirei >I just learned that the creator is female.
>>41525 TittyMon is made by a woman? EVERYTHING I KNOW IS A LIE!
>>41526 And she got her start doing yaoi stuff, too! How she went from gay guys boinkin' to BOOBS BOOBS BOOBS I have no clue.
>>41525 >>41526 >>41528 So Nurse is secretly a manga artist?
So I've learned to just stop my brain from thinking when I read Air Gear. Suddenly the series is quite enjoyable!
>>Code Geass 08th MS Team. PROBABLY WANT >>Sekirei has that problem too... Sekirei is bi-weekly... when the author can bother to stay on schedule, at least.
>>41532 >Sekirei is Bi-Weekly when the artist stays on schedule Why are all the cool Seinen series so bad about being on time?
>>41534 Well with Miura it's mostly because of how anal he is about everything (along with never using assistants). Hopefully, that's why most other series are as well.
Fuck Golden Week. Just... fuck it straight to hell.
>>41543 Miura does have assistants. He still has to do an assload of work, though. The ridiculously high quality of his artwork demands a lot of hard work and attention that can't be passed on to assistants due to consistency. So he still has the bulk of work to do. The guy without assistants is Togashi (HiatusXHiatus). And it shows.
Goddamn, I love the Utena movie, but holy shit, what a WEIRD WEIRD series. So fucking good, but so weird.
>>41580 So how about that episode where Nanami lays an egg. Man, I need to rewatch Utena. I think a good 90% of the symbolism and innuendo soared over my 16-year-old-head when I first watched it.
sup /jam/ Anyone down for a dose of the DIABEETUS? I'm going to stream the Ponyo dub (delicious Liam Neeson) for some fellow +/a/vatar-fans on Thursday night around 11:30-ish PM EDT. I'll post a link to the stream on this thread Thursday afternoon. :)
>>41592 Awesome. I'll be there, hopefully.
>>41592 Liam Neeson has one the greatest voices of all time, though it is weird to see him dubbing an anime, at least it was to me. I dunno, I still enjoyed it (I saw it in the middle of the day in an empty theater quite awhile after it came out).
>>41592 Count me in.
>>41594 I thought he actually did pretty good especially at the beginning when he's freaking out with his little water pump.
Someone cranked the Tsundere up to 11, and Houkago Play was shat out of the machine as a result. I can only hope that this mistake is never repeated, and also bill the artist for the hour I've wasted.
>>41528 I don't know *how* she got there, but it's not surprising when you consider how girly all the men are. I mean, Homura looked like a woman even *before* he started turning into one...
>>41592 Ok fellas http://www.livestream.com/murphsdugout/old tonight, 11:30-ish PM EDT
>>41681 Fuck, I forgot about this. Oh well, I can always sleep tomorrow night. I say that every night, and end up turning in at 3 AM anyway.
>>41681 channel currently online! Streaming the Mushroom Samba episode of Cowboy Bebop up until showtime. Come for the lulz, stay for the d'awww!
Thanks for coming fellas! T'was fun. A couple people in the chat said they didn't see Spirited Away. Maybe I can stream the next time I go live.
I think this fandub is rather
>>41724 Aw, jesus christ, what the fuck
Everyone is going apeshit over this.
>>41727 Ah, so Wolf Guy is the culprit. I'm honestly curious to see if Dance In The Vampire Bund gets axed by Onemanga or not. Lord knows it's not a terribly good series, but there's no actual sex that I can remember...lots of loli tits on display, but if they were going to consider that pornographic, they wouldn't have put the first freaking chapter up in the first place. I may start a pool.
>>41724 I'm reminded of a. Fenslerfilm G.I. Joe PSA.
Why is the One Piece redirect thread still stickied?
Reborn's making me lose my mind. Thank god it serious'd the fuck up and all the mish mash of conflicting logic bombs somehow settle into something coherent, but you'd think reading One Piece fervently would increase my tolerance to weirdass shit.
Can I ask who the characters in OP's image are? The one on the right looks like Rock from Metropolis but I don't recognize any others
>>41825 I was kinda hoping that using it would let people hear tell me in the most subtle way possible. I just figured it was our fine godfather of anime's designs.
>Huh, Black Lagoon's creator did a swimsuit artbook that includes his random commentary on the characters. >"Judging by that indifferent look on her face, (Roberta) looks like the kind of character who can be unimaginably scary during sex..." >"Would anyone care to draw such scenes?"
>>41825 I don't know the first two but the guy in the middle is Lamp and inbetween him and Rock is Ham Egg
>>41839 Given Hiroe's track record, this is not the least bit surprising.
I can't decide what to read next: Should I binge all of Black Lagoon, or should I finally catch up on Oh My Goddess after all this time? I've read the first couple volumes in paperback form at the library.
>>41850 I find it at least a little surprising that he'd actually out-and-out say that. >>41851 I'd DEFINITELY recommend Black Lagoon, just on a personal basis. See >>39383 and >>39401.
So instead of either of those I'm going to read the entirety of "Ten" by Fukumoto. I've never actually read a Fukumoto series (just listened to some Akagi music) so it should be interesting I suppose.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-05-05/gurren-lagann-director-designers-on-new-gainax-work So apparently Gainax's next project has the same director and character designer of Gurren Lagann and is set in Britian in the first three decades of the 20th Century.
Huh. Not to sound like a broken record, but there's a new Black Lagoon chapter out. Things are getting really interesting- I'm struck by how Wu Li's situation has a lot in common with the messes Rock and Jane found themselves in initially. Where will things go from here?
> A couple people in the chat said they didn't see Spirited Away. Maybe I can stream the next time I go live. This a shorter notice than last time, but would anyone be down for, say, this Friday 11PM EDT? The rough edges from the last time I broadcasted have been buffed out :D Anyone down?
>>41946 I'd be down with that.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-05-06/gainax-newest-is-panty-and-stocking-with-garterb elt Herp fucking derp.
>>41965 This sounds utterly retarded. I CAN'T WAIT!
>>41965 et tu Gainax
>>41965 It's going to be a parody, nothing else makes sense.
>>41965 Eh, I'll wait before I start jumping to conclusions. It'd be pretty easy to do a similar Better Than It Sounds preview for Gurren Lagann.
This. Is. Retarded!
>>42040 It really seems like he wants to end it.
>Gon dies >Hunter X Hunter prologue ends here >main story will now begin
Does this mean Vinland Saga has been licensed? About damn time.
>>42040 ...what's wrong with the art?
>>42070 Togashi has been ill for quite awhile. Art tends to suck dick during serialized chapters. He fixes them for volume release.
>>42066 FFFFFFFF NOT SURE IF WANT
>>42067 Nope, it means Vinland Saga is a mature series and thus is offline while they check all mature series for porno.
>>42093 Motherfucker.
Spirited Away in 5 minutes or so broskis, online http://www.livestream.com/murphsdugout/old
>>42095 thanks for coming y'all! Sorry for the hiccups in the middle there, my internet was blowing donkeycock. At least it finished strong :)
I am excite!
>>42113 Suddenly, so am I.
>>42066 MAXIMUM TROLLING
>>42113 What is this?
>>42118 Gainax's latest project.
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE NEWEST CHAPTER OF REBORN?
>>42121 Same question, except Psyren.
>>42121>>42122 Same question, but with the majority of Tezuka and Nagai stuff
>>42113 Bleedman?
Sorry to request, but has anyone got a bigger image of this? To try and stay on topic, does anyone know when Black Rock Shooter will be out?
>>42121 It's been put on hold while the scan groups work on series that are actually GOOD.
FUCKIN' SHIT WHY HAVEN'T I BEEN WATCHING SOUL EATER THIS IS SO RAD
>>42135 I KNOW RITE? So Good. The ending is extremely weak though, but the Manga is still going strong so it's not too bad.
>>42135 I'm glad you're enjoying it. I feel a huge affection towards the series, myself. Thought it was just a mindless crush at first, but I think I'm in 'carrying a torch' territory by this point.
I stopped watching Soul Eater around the time they went to go fight the Kenshin guy for the first time. DOes it get better again?
>>42146 Lots of viewers think that episodes 18-24 are the best part of the series, and that the show goes downhill after that. I love the whole show, but I tend to agree. I think later episodes have a lot going for them--you get Giricco, Arachne, Crona and Stein experiencing huge difficulties--but the show winds up with loose ends, and ends that are just tied up unconvincingly. So, if the Kishin business didn't hook you and make you want to keep watching, then it was probably a good idea for you to drop it right around there.
>>42113 6th paragraph, just a rough translation: "Even though Panty and Stocking are a pair of sister angels, they have extremely bad and dirty habits. Basically a parade of sex, violence and dirty humour. Can such things be shown on tv? With such content, should their actions be broadcast in Japan?" Also it seems like Garter Belt is their boss, a priest with afro.
>>42149 So Gainax is now going to just outright MAKE South Park?
STEIN, YOU SO COOL
>>42152 ...Deep-frying Black Star is less cool.
>>42153 ...Never mind, everything is okay. STEIN YOU SO COOL.
>>42154 Stein is carved from a block of pure awesome, using chisels of brilliance and mallets of Win.
I decided his theme song should be Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice. It won't stop playing in my head while he's on-screen.
Speaking of Soul Eater, I've just caught up the with the FUNimation DVD release of the anime (they're halfway through) and will probably start reading the manga once it's done. Is there a good point where someone who watched the anime can pick up on it or should I really start from the beginning?
THAT DOES IT I'M DOWNLOADING LAGANN HEN!
Christ, even the untranslated BAD END Type-Moon fanworks are incredibly funny.
Not to mention chock full of reaction images.
THE LEGEND OF KOIZUMI GOT A THREE EPISODE OVA? SHIT GOTTA GET MY HANDS ON IT

Oh dear, looks like m'old shipping gland's acting up again. . .
So apparently Hirano Aya's actual voice is kinda ridiculous. No wonder she could do Konata's voice, it's not so far from her own.
>>42576 You should get that thing checked.
>>42576 Source?
>>42751 That's from Otaku no Musume-san.
>Aoi Kururi is an onmyou-ji who is studying smells at a private academy. He in fact hates using onmyou magic, but when a spell is mysteriously cast on his whole class that causes everyone to wet themselves, he finds that with the warm power and sweet smell of girls' pee, his magic becomes more powerful, and he saves his class by breaking the spell. This is the story of the strange misadventures of Aoi, his sisters, and his friends.
>>42758
>>42758 What with this plus that drinking-breast-milk-gives-you-power-manga and that tasting-girl's-drool-manga that's got its own thread you seriously have to wonder what the fuck manga writers think women are made of.
>>42768 I subscribe to the theory that girls are made out of delicious candy
>>42758 I had the same initial reaction as Rodyle, but at this point I think I've been able to figure out the root cause of all this: School uniforms. Because of school uniforms, a typical japanese male's sexual awakening occurs at a point where all the girls around his age are wearing skirts. When this remains the case for years on end, it naturally pushes society to engage in what amounts to an extensive period of consideration and reflection on the topic of adolescent girl's underwear. This process advances the general level of knowledge on the topic, until things reach the point where adolescent boys start getting the memo that panties are actually kinda fucking nasty. Information processing then passes said memo on to the boy's libido- at which point it typically gets filed in with all the other research material for the "develop explanations for panties being sexual" project, because the nerve cells staffing the libido branch aren't paid to exercise critical thinking.
>>42772 Good thinking, talking coffee cup!
>>42768 ...The drool one is actually a good series, but that's besides the point.
>>42782 Good or no, it's still a tasting-girl's-drool-manga.
>>42768 >>42786 The girl tastes the guy's drool as well. Really, what the manga is is an examination of the internal mechanics of high school relationships, but without communications barriers - stripping away the extraneous bullshit that comes attached with it, and really looking at the nuts and bolts. The droll-tasting is introduced as a plot device to strip away those communications problems by allowing them to transmit their feelings directly, and also to reassure the audience that this is a fictionalized (and therefore idealized) relationship, through the introduction of an obviously fantastic element. Of course, it's also really fucking weird.
>>42787 Good or no, it's still a tasting-girl's-drool-manga.
ENDOU YOU FUCKFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
>>Still Nina
>>42860
FUNi put every episode of Nerima Daikon Brothers up on YouTube. I want to be FUNimation when I grow up.
>>42867 Now if they'd just get the rights to Utena and Sailor Moon, all will be right with the world.
>>42869 Well, TOEI was shopping out the rights to Sailor Moon about a month or so back, so they might actually announce it at one of the next major cons. http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/16792.html Wiki says FUNI is considering it, too, so it seems even more likely.
New Alita chapter!
Hey did somebody say GAINAX?
OK, this might technically be a /tek/ thing, but it's about reading manga scans downloaded onto my computer instead of using a reader. Are there any image viewing programs which can be set so the default view of the image is at it's original size and scrolled all the way up to the top if it's to large for one screen and if there is how do I set it that way? Every program I have only shrinks any pic to large for one screen by default and when you press full zooms into the center. So when reading anything showing a sequence of words, imagines or whatever that's bigger than one screen requires pressing the "full" button and scrolling up for each page, which really screws up trying to picture the panels happening in sequence.
>>43046 Irfanview?
>>43047 (download and fiddle with the options a bit) Success! Thanks.
>>43049 No problem. Like I said in the /tek/ sticky, I've been using Irfanview for over ten years, and it's never failed me yet.
Huh, someone licensed it? I'll buy the hell out of it, unless Manga Fox is just yankin' my chain. >>43047 http://www.irfanview.com/main_what_is_engl.htm >XnView has been stealing/cloning features and whole dialogs from IrfanView, for 10+ years Well, that's pretty bogus. Consider me switched.
>>43069 No, it isn't licensed, Google threw a hissy fit about mature mangas on the site, so they pulled virtually everything even remotely mature for about 2 weeks. They finally sorted out the gore based mature manga like Franken Fran from the ones like this one (which was on my bloody "to read" list) and Dance in the Vampire Bund. So yeah, they can't just say "this isn't here because you're a bunch of perverts"
>>43214
>>43250 I couldn't bloody agree more. And even what they're using as the placeholder is bullshit. "We can't show this because it's licensed!" And yeah Naruto and Bleach are the ones with the most damn hits on the site. It's four types of bullshit I say!
>>43253 As I see it Shonen Jump realized that trying to stop the distribution of the big 3 would wasted effort. Can't stop it.
>>43253 Just download them instead of shitty reading sites >>43260 Shonen Jump (or rather Shueisha) shut down RAW paradise. I don't think they care much about the foreign markets but they are doing something about it because as it is Japs get it off the net before they get their SJ's in the mail.
>>43274 Not quite. What happened is that in WSJ, they printed a thing about how piracy is bad, hurting the industry etc etc. It wasn't aimed at scanlations, but at Japanese readers who pirate off the internet. RAW Paradise freaked out and SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING because like 95% of their traffic was from Japan. That's how I heard it anyway. Shueisha didn't actually close RAW Paradise, but they did provoke them into closing themselves down.
>>43274 I was talking about the scanlations and the American magazine of Shonen Jump. So I guess I mean Viz.
SHIT YEAH, THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!
>>43278 I didn't think there was enough of the manga to make an anime...
AAAAAAAAAAA AMANO THIS IS BEAUTIFUL ILU but apparently a 50pg chapter isn't going to happen like the rumors ;~;
Hey, everyone ticked about the recent wave of "mature" manga disappearances: 1000manga.com is your friend.
>>43291 Disappearances? Fill me in, I've been out of the loop for a while
>>43344 Complaints being made about the content in some manga titles has lead to sites like onemanga and mangafox taking down some of their 18+ titles. I can't recall the details, but there should be a number of posts about it ITT.
Also, moments like this are one of the big reasons I read Hunter x Hunter. >Sorry, but we're gonna be going on another hiatus till who knows when. :( Also, moments like these are one of the big reasons I wish I didn't read Hunter x Hunter.
I would kill every last one of you if it meant I could get a proper Durarara!! OST. The best thing about this fucking show is it's music. Baccano! doesn't even fucking compare. I also finally got caught up and all I can say is... holy shit. This show. This fucking show. Jesus christ. MIKADO IS MOOT HOW AMAZING IS THAT
>>43449 All I can find is the opening track.
>>43449 INORITE Durara seems weaker than Baccano at first, but that's because it keeps the best cards up its sleeve until the moments are right. And believe me, there's alot more HOLY SHIT moments to come.
>Black Lagoon, Chapter 81, Page 6
Does anyone know if there's a group working on this now that it's been released on DVD/BluRay/UMD?
>>43561 Why yes, it is the single best page in the series, glad you agree.
>>43561
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-06-03/yamaga/new-gainax-work-to-be-based-on-novel So apparently the previous mentioned series Gainax is setting in 1920s England is a completely different series than Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt which they are making after that and is still in the early planning stages. Also, it's based off an English children's book also set in that time about a boy and girl who collect magical books. Can any Britfags tell me if they have any idea what book that might be?
Just finished Chinese Electric Batman. Mao is my catbro.
I did not like this anime. In fact, I'm pretty sure I hated it.
>>43872 Really? I loved it, although it wasn't much of anything like the original.
>>43872 You didn't watch it before the original did you? Oh you silly kids.
>>43879 I watched it right after the original.
Is anyone else seeing everything on this board in italics? It comes and goes for me.
Everything is italicized below the first three threads on this page. The first three threads are normal.
>>43921 I read this, pondered a smart-ass remark about your perceptions, then scrolled down to see all threads but this one in italics. Heh.
>>43922 For me the italics begins with the third thread.
>>43924 Oh shit, now it's starting on the second! It's spreading!
IT'S A GUNDAM
>>43872 Now I'm curious, how come you hated it? Did you dislike Gurren lagaan as well? seeing how similar they are. And what did you think of the first one?
Everyone on /m/ hates Diebuster. My friends recently lent me their copy of it and I've only gotten through 3 episodes so far. When do I get to the parts that everyone hates? This shit is awesome so far.
>>43992 I liked Gurren Lagann and I liked the first Gunbuster. They were fun, unabashedly over the top (though Gunbuster less so, to my surprise), but also had straightforward plots and well-established characters and settings. Diebuster I found impossible to follow and, consequently, impossible to care for. So much happened and so little seemed to be established in between to make those occurrences carry any dramatic weight. I felt like I missed 80% of the plot by the time Lal'C's boyfriend tried to rape Nono and just didn't care enough about the characters or plot to revisit the preceding episodes and see what I'd missed. The soundtrack was pretty wicked though, I'll give you that. >>44012 Chances are, you'll like the rest of it; the quality is pretty consistent. It just wasn't the kind that I liked.
