Let this be a thread dedicated to the use, providing, uploading, downloading, giving information on, updating it, moding it, creating new characters, of Shimeji, a program that make interactive little buggers on your desktop that throw things, multiply, climb, walk, drag themselves, etc. Ask questions, get answers, provide characters and you own creations, and help in expanding this fun little creation.

The tutorial part 1 : Install Java over the english site : (google Java), run the Shimegi application from any folder to start the program. The program uses for about 150mb of your RAM
Tutorial part 2 : On th left is the description of the tabs once you right click the icon of the program down right, use the first option to make one more bugger, and add a few, this will trigger the possibility of them multiplying, the bring my windows back, is in case some of them throw your window (yes you heard this right), and you bring it back

You don't install anything; each shimeji is just activated by the .exe. To get rid of it, just delete the folder, no uninstalling needed. Each Shimeji is the same; what makes them different is their img folders. Basically, keep downloading different shimejis, and trying the .exes, if you find one that works, you can get any to work. Just replace the img folder with one of the shimeji you'd like. So, say you downloaded the Big Boss one, and it works. Just copy the whole folder, and replace the img folder in the copy with another one you want. You'll have 2 folders, both with an .exe., .jar, and some other stuff, identical except for the img folder. Keep doing this for every different shimeji you want. Once you get one working, all you need are different img folders. Um... I hope this made sense. Once you get it working, it's easy to figure out.

I mean it doesn't make any sense to do it this way, but I'm convinced this is more or less what I'm seeing. I had an idle animation in order that made sense if they went in order, but since they stick in other frames it looks like they're having a seizure.

I noticed this: If it's a sprite that doesn't touch the bottom of the screen, like the side/top crawling ones, it can be any size as far as I know. But if it's on the bottom it has a limit because it wont make the sprite stand higher than a certain amount of pixels high. I'm not sure what it is, smaller than 200px I think, but bigger than 128. If it's too big is it gets cut off by the bottom of the screen.
Mines not as polished as everyone elses, but I plan to finish this one at one point. Gonna be awesome when its done. Also something I'm never gonna do again. God damn these take forever to make when you're picky and using a mouse.

I was trying to figure out what some of the extra images can do, because some of them could be potentially great. The only example I have to go off of is a Miku one. Interestingly, this Miku does not take into consideration the order of this idle animation here.>>32279 This leads me to believe there may be another version if Shimeji that "fixes" this that this Miku was made for, as well as allows extra images. However, I couldn't find anything about differing version numbers for Shimeji from the source Miku file that made it different from Rorschach. However, the original Miku exe wouldn't load on my XP, which again leads me to believe it's different. 47 is a second landing-from-a-fall frame, and if present will play between 18 and 19 (basically gives you a second frame of animation if you want one!) This is the only extra frame that worked for me. 48 = ? 49-51 = a three frame run cycle, as far as I can tell. This did not work despite being an awesome idea. 52 = ? 53 = In this Miku one it appears to be an extra ceiling-climbing frame, but I have not seen it used. 54-55 = extra frames for the idle animation >>32279. 54 looks like it goes near the beginning of the idle animation. 55 appears to be supposed to come before frame 27 in the animation. However, I haven't seen this idle animation work properly with this Miku. I have also never seen any of the images that have a "b" used.

Wah, I wish there were more idle animations you can swap with random actions. Through trial and error I ended up with like four extra poses. Also I wish the pick up default pose wasn't the stand; looks awkward when you change the shape of the character...

Holy shiiiiiiit Did you guys already know you can modify the xml to add animations or change the frames that play for certain actions? I added a special pickup frame instead of frame 1 and some random idles pretty easily. I feel triumphant C: Only downside is you have to use that specific exe; if you copy the frames it wipes the extra animations.

I like collecting things. :'D Also, I fixed up a lot of the shimeji sets so that they would work properly once extracted, and I grouped similar ones together in rars (ex. Vocaloid). I'd like if people would take interest in the http://shimeji.webs.com site, especially artists so that they can be properly credited for their work, but it's really up to the people here.
