Annnnd that's it.

No.6163
This just served to reinforce how awesome chaptor is.

No.6164
Hee. Chaptor.

No.6166
We should shut down all of the other projects and return to the classics like the /co/mrades (no more new ones) and Chaptor. (wolfmanbat has a lot going for it too though.)

No.6167
>>6166 Agreed. I know the average /co/mrade has the attention span of a lobotomized godlfish paired with the ability to churn out awesome ideas, but Chaptor was pure gold. He's one of the few /co/nstructs that isn't simly a parody or spin-off, which means he has potential to become something greater.

No.6170
>>6167

I for one am somewhat glad Justice /co/mrades and Chaptor are no longer getting gross amounts of attention, as it reduces the amount of people who want to "help" develop their backstory. Too many people have too many different ideas, and it always seems to go horribly wrong.

No.6173
>>6170
But at the same time drawfags aren't looking at it either contributing pictures to go along with the ideas.

No.6176
I see Chaptor's size compared to Agnes and it makes me think of "Gritty Realistic 90's Chaptor" series.
The gritty realism is that Chaptor would be about 3 feet tall and mostly covered in feathers, but still ever the gentlemen.

No.6180
>>6170
>>6173
In all honesty, I much more prefer that the /co/mrades and Chaptor are just /co/ creations with no set continuity or story to them. They're just there for us to play with. They're like action figures when we were wee lads.

Granted, there is SOME semblance of a story with both creations, but I think that once /co/ starts trying to set everything up like we're professionals, then it just gets messy and complicated.

No.6184
>>6180

EXACTLY.

No.6187
>>6180
See, this would be why I've never done Chaptor writefaggotry. There is no canon.

No.6189
>>6187
This statement confuses me. Because there are no set bounds, you won't write anything?

No.6190
>>6187
Precisely. Okay, there's this raptor named Chaptor. He's a detective. He's got a maid named Agnes who is only capable of saying "Oui, sir!"

"But where'd he come from?! What time period is it set in?!"

Who cares?! Just make shit up!

No.6191
>>6190
We actually discussed this stuff. I distinctly remember he's from Victorian Age and he's from Britain. The world is populated by humans as well as dinosaurs and other things. We have a loose cannon set up. Seriously, any questions, ask away.

No.6192
>>6191
>loose cannon
Doesn't play by the rules?

No.6193
Yeah..
For instance, I like to think of Chaptor as coming from a vague winkwink 'The Kingdom.' Which resembles a Victorian age civilization, where for whatever reason, a raptor is a detective. It's never specified how, or why.

And the queen is not a motherfucking T-Rex. No. Chaptor is the only other dinosaur. The rest are just colorful and absurd villains in a world of humans, and nobody notices.

No.6195
>>6193
My favorite example: If someone said "there's a raptor on the loose!" folks would respond "oh my! We should ask Chaptor to look into that!"

No.6204
>>6193
Chaptor isn't the only dinosaur. He's fighting the mobster triceratops, Vladimir, in those examples above.

No.6212
>>6204
That he is, but remember, there is no true canon besides a plethora of ideas from the original thread.
And the whole colorful villains thing. And the 'Original Arch-enemy' thing. Selective canon depending on the story you're telling.

Reminds me of Discworld. The most prestigious university of Magic has a librarian who is an Orangutan because of some magical accident in one of the first books. He's been an orangutan for such a long time that everyone has pretty much forgotten that he actually is one.

Quote: "In fact, if anyone would tell the wizards that there is an orangutan in the library, they'd probably go and ask the librarian if he'd seen it."

Well, even if Terry Pratchett does die suddenly, at least Discworld still has some of it's humor left.
Poor Douglas Adams ended up dying when, from what I've heard and some of what I've read, Hitchhiker's was resolved with a bad end because of a creator breakdown.

Huh, Chaptor.com is closed.

No.7199
Y'know, I thought about including my own interpretation of Chaptor in my own brand of comics that I plan on publishing and selling and stuff, but I'm disinclined to..
I'm afraid I'll open myself to being sued, or somebody will get the wrong idea that I'm saying I created and copyrighted the character, or somebody else will do it and then sue me, or something.
Otherwise, I'd totally include him either in weird side-stories, or mix the concept into the regular comic universe I'm running.

No.7213
So, I got a horrible horrible idea for Heartbreaker: Silver Age Heartbreaker. He has a sidekick, Breaky; A dog, Heartbiter; and of course a female love interest to prove he's not gay, Heartbreakess.

No.7262
>>7199 Wasn't the point of Chaptor that he's opensource and can be used by anyone? I think we established that when he was first created that fateful winter.

No.7263
>>7262
In theory, yes. But if I put him in something I'm actually planning to publish as a side-character, I'm not sure if it'd piss off enough people to get me put on something like Encyclopediadramatica or not.

No.7271
>>7263
It will actually make more people laugh then sue.

No.7280
>>7271
In that case, I was thinking of playing him off as a rival to a crime solving, transforming robot detective named /\/@14.
This robot detective actually perceives the world based on a 1920's personality core. I figure it'd be a grizzled North American that winds up counterbalancing Chaptors Britishness.

No.7291
>>7280
He would have to wear a coonskin cap.

And possibly be powered by the restless ghost of Davey Crockett, transformed into a battery by the sinister Professor "E".

No.7292

Noir detective, not a cattle rustler. ;)
Think robot that transforms into a motorcycle, wearing a derby and coat.
Noir.

No.7293
>>7292
You can be Noir in a coonskin cap.

Mister Ben /Franklin/ wore a coonskin cap, are you telling me he couldn't have been a world weary private detective if he wanted to?

No.7298
>>7293
Mr. Ben Franklin would've been a mad inventor like Tesla.

No.13570
>>7298
FRANKLIN WAS A GOOD SCIENTIST, BUT THAT WAS JUST A HOBBY TO HIM. FRANKLIN'S REAL BIG THING WAS BEING ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND MANIPULATE PEOPLE WHEN HE HAD TO. AND LIVING LIKE A 20 YEAR OLD WHEN HE'S SEVENTY. HE'D MAKE A BADASS PRIVATE EYE.

No.25402
A friendly /co/mrade wrote an unofficial guide to the Chaptor Universe based on various ideas issued from threadsand can be found here
http://www.mediafire.com/?g1jytjynzmy
And it's a pretty good guide, and one character of note has gottenn substantial positive feedback from /co/: Quincy, Chaptor's American west cousin.
