Figure this might work better than just making dozens of new threads....So, yeah, apparently this (Pixar Canada) is happening! It'll be handling various animation projects Pixar doesn't have the time or manpower to, but that they want to maintain the same level of quality on. Things like amusement park attractions and spin-off shorts.
Now there's some of that creepy abandoned amusement park feel. Those Dumbos...
>>84950 I wonder how well or ruined you can make these places. Like even if you just dump paint into the level its still looks no better then a spit polish here and a oiled cracked gear there.
So apparently the Fantasyland Expansion at WDW has been altered quite a bit. Instead of those Princess Meet and Greet things in the middle of the new space, they're going to put a Seven Dwarves Mine Coaster there and replace the Snow White dark-ride with the Princess Meets crap. Also, Gaston's Tavern will be the first of the new buildings to get it's foundations poured. They're still clearing some 20,000 Leagues infrastructure from the space where LIttle Mermaid is going
Cover for the new Fantasia Blu-Ray, but unfortunately, Fantasia World's been scrapped and only Destino will be included on the set. I mad, but dammit, this set is still pretty want.>Other Blu-ray exclusives include the documentary "Dali & Disney: A Date with Destino", BD-Live feature "Disney's Virtual Vault", an interactive art gallery, DisneyView sidebar art, and detailed notes from the newly-discovered Schultheis Notebook. Available on both the Blu-ray and DVD discs are audio commentaries and the featurettes "Disney Family Museum" and "Musicana: Walt's Inspiration for a Fantasia Sequel".
>>87349Isn't it kind of tacky to have a quote on the cover praising the film by the guy who made it?
>>87359 Well to be fair it did get really popular in its time and Walt is only talking about the original. I think that quote has been on the fantasia cover before but yeah it is a little cheap to put it on the front. However the quote is under all the other characters and isn't bigger then Disney's signature so it’s not as bad as it could be.
>>87387Fantasia flopped when it first came out man. Was the only time Walt really felt like he had failed.
>>87398 Huh, maybe I was thinking of something else.
>>87398Snow White was pretty much the biggest gamble Walt ever took, and everyone knew it was going to fail.
>>87578And he proved everyone fucking wrong about that and the other huge gamble of his career that was Disneyland.Fantasia was kinda fucked because the new sound system took effort to install, it was a little too "high-art" for mainstream tastes, and with World War II going on, the international market was kinda fucked. Now, to get off that subject, let's bask in this cool Collector's Edition of Epic Mickey that has a Behind the Scenes DVD, Wii skins and a Mickey figure.
>>87956 WHEN IS THIS STUPID THING GOING RELEASE DAMN IT? GIVE ME A DATE SO I CAN WAIT. :(
>>88001Toys R Us is listing the release date as November 15th. Which would place it three days before Mickey's birthday, so it'd be a fitting time for it.
Nintendo Power's got an Epic Mickey article and we got more info on the Blot. Sounds kinda Earthbound-y too."The tragedy of the Blot... I learned a really important thing from John Lasseter. He told me that when Toy Story really came to life... the key question they had to ask was, 'What does a toy want?' Well, toys want to be played with. And that was the foundation for everything in the movie. So he looked at me and said, 'What does a cartoon want?' ... what we came up with is a cartoon character wants four things: to be drawn, to be animated and brought to life, to be projected and seen by an audience, and, finally, to be loved... The Blot [in our game] had none of them. He's a mistake. And he's aware enough to know that. So that's what makes him a monster."What he can do is erase things. He has all of the same abilities Mickey has. But he can also sort of suck the life out of cartoons. He can absorb the paint and leave an inert shell. And when he absorbs the paint from a cartoon character, he kind of gains some dim knowledge of their desires. So he comes to want what they wanted. He wants to be a cartoon character. That's his motivation. And the Mad Doctor exploits that. He says, 'I can help you get out of here and get what you want. I can send you out of Wasteland and you'll become the cartoon star that you want to be.' Maybe it's a lie, maybe it's not. So that's their relationship; the Mad Doctor is sort of tempting the Blot. You've got the brains and the brawn. And I hope the Blot gives kids nightmares. I really do."
>>88486 That depends on two things, the blot slowly gaining the ability to speak and second to become so massive that he can't distinguish himself from all that he has absorbed. "I'm sad Mickey..."
>>88494Well, he'll definitely get huge judging from this art
>>88486>>88501
>>88486> And I hope the Blot gives kids nightmares. I really do.He's a good man.
http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=134849Fuller detail from the Nintendo Power article.
>>88486Now I CAN'T wait!
>>88596 Site won't load for me. Does it say anything else?
>>88601Got a few more level announcements, including how the final level just crumbles around you as you keeping moving on to the final fight. And more insight into the backstory, like how the Mad Doctor operates.
My sister will be doing an interview to be a receptionist at Pixar Vancouver. Here's hoping!
It doesn't look like Digicomics has been updated in a while.I wonder if they gave up on that.Perhaps I should buy a few stories.
could be cool.
Rest of the Epic Mickey intro's up.Also, I'm pretty sure Digicomics will be updated again eventually. It is how they're going to be distributing those Tales of the Wasteland comics.
>>89563 Glad you’re on trailer duty. Aw, Oswald's shy.
SOME TIMES SOME CRIMES GO SLIPPIN THROUGH THE CRACKS...
>>89684Oh! So the cameo was a teaser!
BUT THESE TWOGUMSHOESARE PICKING UP THE SLACK
>>89744THERE'S NO CASE TOO BIG,NO CASE TOO SMALLIF YOU NEED HELP JUST CALL
>>89684Rescuers crossover.It must happen.
In order to don't forget?
New Tangled trailer. Much better then the godawful teaser
>>92698And the US trailer which has a few differences
>>92698...Was he just swordfighting with his horse?I guess I have to see this movie now.
>>92702Don't fuck with my hopes like this Disney. I'm actually starting to get excited.
Damn Europe getting this five days before us
>>92761 It gives me time to work and play 2 Worlds 2. Mickey will definitely make bank in America, let them focus on baiting some Euros with a few less days. November 30th is better than anywhere in December.
Dat music...
New Disney Park announcements tomorrow morninghttp://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/09/live-coverage-of-disney-parks-special-announcement/?CMP=SOC-DPFY10Q3Twitter9.22.1022-09-10%400006
>>94995 Disneyland's finally coming to Australia?
OH LAWDY DO WANT.WHY CAN'T I BE IN CALIFORNIA NOW?
>>95040Not sure on that one but I do know it's heavily rumored Paris is getting a Marvel park.
>>95055Flynn's better be stocked like a classic arcade
>>95055 Holy shit, seconded on the DO WANT.Maybe my uncle will take me...
>Nothing new from that press conference outside the latest marketing theme, the primary gimmick of which basically seems to be a repeat of the 50th Anniversary's Guest Photomosaic gimmick, though now, projections on the castle of guest submitted pictures.Should have expected this. Bombshell announcements like the Paris 3rd gate or the altered Fantasyland expansion plans are more of a D23 or Shareholder meeting thing.
I can see time itself.
>>95160Mickey's animations are slightly different!
>>95229Yeah, I think they applied what they learned to make some of the animations seem more natural.
>>95160I doubt I would have noticed or cared when I watched this as a kid, but it's kind of strange seeing the 40's characters designs used for old timey animation gags.
