With an incredible Spring having wrapped up, it's time for a hilariously underwhelming summer!

Will you pick up anything in the coming season? What was your favorite show/op/ed/whatever from last season? What was your most hated? These are the question the internet was made for ladies and gentlemen.

I remember reading the first few chapters of Blood Lad. It was pretty funny. That will most likely be the only thing I pick up this season.

Wait, isn't that the same plot as Zero no Tsukaima?

And Sword Art Online is the same plot as dot/Hack. This season looks AWFUL holy shit.

On the bright side, LAST TALES OF SYMPHONIA OVA come into my arms
>> No. 76058
>>76055
No because ZnT (the okay novels, not the awful anime) actually has SOME imagination underneath the bullshit, particularly later on once Joseph, the Elves, and the Pope get involved. Dog Days is, from what admittedly little I've seen, as insubstantial as it sounds.

As for the other stuff, yeah I'm totally uninterested aside of the Geass OVAs. My friend's a big MuvLuv fan, but Total Eclipse is a side story based on some untranslated light novels. I personally couldn't get Extra/Unlimited to install properly and thus have nothing whatsoever to say on the matter except people swear by Unlimited and Alternative, and that TE apparently has lesbian Balalaika in a mech.

As for this past season:
Best OP: TSURITAMA HOLY FUCK, second place is FZ or Jormungand
Best series: Fate Zero S2
Best ED: don't really watch EDs but probably Tsuritama or Fate Zero
Worst OP: Kids on the Slope
Worst Series: Would be Nyaruko, but even that entertained me through sheer WHAT THE FUCK and Lovecraft-san's threads on /a/, so Polar Bear Cafe.
Worst ED: Nyaruko probably
Most ~Moe~ Protagonist: Space Brothers

I ended up dropping Polar Bear after 1 1/2, Kids on the Slope after 3, Nyaruko after... 7 I think, and Jormungand after whatever episode the butterfly arc ended.

Really? Holy crap it's been years since watching the first four episodes. Where are they now?
>> No. 76060
Hagure Yuusha no Estetica sounds like it could have legs, and I'll have to check out Joshiraku, mostly because of Koji Kumeta. A couple of other series sound like they could be interesting, but those are the two that stand out.

I kind of like the sound of Binbou-Gami Ga, too.

I read a few chapters of the manga. Has the potential to be quite good.

>Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru!
For the love of christ Japan can you quit it with the incest shows already. Leave it in the shameful niche where it belongs, don't put it on fucking television.

Is that Rurouni Kenshin movie part of the remake I heard about? Nice, didn't even know there as already one. Though sounds unlikely they could improve the original, specially the Kyoto chapter.

>Campione!
Looks interesting.

>Muv-Luv
Is that based on hentai or something? I think I recall the name.

Overall, with a quota of comedy, ecchi and harem stuff, maybe there'll be something else for me.

Oh yah and Queen's Blade.

There's only two episodes to go! The most recent one dropped like 2 days ago and obviously hasn't been subbed yet. The last comes out next month but I'm hearing rumors that it's going to get delayed? I don't even know.

All I know is that the animation for this fucking show is SO NICE and it just makes me bitter that the Tales of the Abyss anime looked like dog shit. yes i mad.

>> No. 76083

Muv-Luv is, to my largely second-hand knowledge, based on a hentai VN, but one of those VNs where the porn is more or less incidental. Why is originally supposed to be a twist (Unlimited, where the sci-fi aspect is first revealed, is locked until you finish two routes of Extra, which was advertised as "the most generic VN ever") but Total Eclipse (based on a light novel) gives that away.

I've not played it, but my friend can and has produced quite a few ravings on the subject of it's quality.

If it's of any use to you, Total Eclipse is supposed to be more like Top Gun than anything else.

Just checked a bit of the first Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto-hen OVA.Yeah, might be a remake with a few more scenes, but it kinda lost that 90s charm. Saito still seems to look the same, though. Also I gotta admit I didn't get to any action scenes (wasn't able to watch the whole thing due to computer troubles).

>>76087
Ehm... to be honest, i never really watched Top Gun, though it's from my time (closest thing was Hot Shots lol). Anyway, thanks for the info. :)

Season's wrapping up:

Welp

Favourite Anime Of The Season: Lupin III - not what I expected at all, but I am more than just OK with it
Least Favourite: Zetman - such a terrible, terrible adaption
Biggest Surprise: Lupin III - as said earlier
Most Disappointing: Zetman - as said earlier
Best Male: Main character? Lupin. Otherwise, Goemon.
Best Female: eeeeeeeeeeeh, Yuuko? If not main characters: Wanko, by far
Best Character Overall: Goemon, clearly
Best VA: Lupin's VA is great. So much joy and energy.
Best OST: I assume Kids on the Slope as some great Jazz classics in its soundtrack, but I dropped it very early on, so yeah...
Best OP: Sankarea - so nice and melancholic
Best ED: Lupin III - super catchy and feels really nostalgic for some unknown reason

So yeah, basically Lupin III is the only thing that really grabbed me this season. Sankarea is also okay. Everything else was just eeeeeeeehh...

Didn't you watch Tsuritama?
>> No. 76113

Favourite Anime Of The Season: Tsuritama
Least Favourite: Didn't watch enough to know. Of the stuff I watched, probably Kids on the Slope, but the fact that I've been keeping up with it already puts it in the Top Three of the season or something.
Biggest Surprise: The Fujiko anime. Not because it was better or worse than I was expecting (it was probably slightly better than I was expecting, but not surprisingly so), but because it was not what I thought I would be getting when I heard it was a new Lupin III series.
Most Disappointing: Kids on the Slope I guess. I still really liked it, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be.
Best Male: No strong opinion. The guy with the duck from Tsuritama, I guess? That guy's awesome.
Best Female: No strong opinion again. The girl from Eureka Seven Ao maybe?
Best OST: Kids on the Slope
Best OP: Tsuritama
Best ED: No opinion
>> No. 76120
Oh wait wow how the fuck did I forget about Moyashimon Returns

Definitely will be watching that too.
>> No. 76129
Favourite Anime Of The Season: Jormungand (Lupin comes close)
Least Favourite: Haiyoru! Nyaruko-san (dropped after half an episode)
Biggest Surprise: Upotte!! (Respected its subject surprisingly well, [unlike Nyaruko] and had some really fun threads)
Most Disappointing: Haiyoru! Nyaruko-san again (Lovecraftian? It was hardly Derlethian)
Best Male: Goemon
Best Female: Sako
Best Character Overall: Iskander
Best VA: I am not very good at making this kind of judgement, but Lupin's VA, maybe?
Best OST: From what I've seen, Fate/Zero, but I didn't watch Kids on the Slope, so...
Best OP: Jormungand (Love me some engrish, and it probably would have been good enough even without it)
Best ED: Lupin

jesus, outside of Sword Art Online and maybe Muv-Luv most of those are either sequels to shows I don't care about or more moeshit garbage
also I hope very strongly that I'm the only one who thinks Blood Lad looks like Johnny Depp's character in Dark Shadows, because Johnny Depp fangirls are fucking horrible, and when you combine them with the Burtonfags again...

I said "most", not "all", it's not like I hate everything because there aren't some other potentially decent ones like Binbou-gami but the lineup isn't nearly as good as last season or even the ones before it

>Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru!
Is that even confirmed to have anything to be incestful? Looked to me like might be just something about the sister trying to bond with the protagonist, while he gets a girlfriend among the other ones.

They'll probably play up the incest angle regardless of whether it's actually for real or not.

Why does japan love bastardizing it's own history as little girls so much? I mean Kingdom is actually interesting because they play Chinese history relatively straight faced. What the hell happened to good old fashioned mindless action or at least giving everyone a giant robot?

Actual history is fun when you go into all the dirty or funny details behind events, not make everyone a 12 year old child with a sword.

>>Dakara Boku wa and Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
...Look, I understand you guys are a little bit obessed with your current low birth rates and how your young aren't apparently that interested in sex as you'd want them to be, but it's not going to become a global trend to the point of humanity becoming scarce anytime soon. Europe is just reaching the amount of people she had before both World Wars - population growth fluctuates like anything else and in a generation or two you'll have kids that breed like crazy. How is a guy momentarily losing his "ecchi spirit" that big of a deal?

>>Ebiten, Campione! and Kono Naka ni Hitori
Who the fuck watches this sort of garbage at this point? What innovation could either Guy goes to Girl School or Girl Nerd Club bring unless they were intended as satire of that kind of show?

what's the deal with that anyway? Pixiv and the 'Boorus suggest it's a fujoshi anime but Wikipedia makes it seem like an actually pretty interesting take on Arabian folktales with cute art.
>> No. 76624
>>76623
The manga is not so much a good take as a hilariously inaccurate one, but as far as entertainment factor goes it's not bad and the art is indeed cute.

As for its fujoshi factor, it has a multitude of attractive male characters in platonic relationships with each other that range from friendly to antagonistic, which is honestly all a fujoshi fandom needs, so I'm not surprised it's a hit there. Dunno if the anime plays it up or not.
