But if there was ever a time to develop a character and have them actually grow it would be right then, at the end of your season.

It would have been really fucking powerful note to end on.

>But true love always finds a way. Isn't that precious.

Mike and Bryan are aware of how cheesy and ridiculous their romance is. They do it on purpose because they're a fan of romantic cliches. It was basically the same with Kataang, only they had a good number of episodes to space their development out.

Eh but point is, Bryke know their romance isn't entirely realistic. Romance in the media rarely is.

Yeah, but there are flaws, and there are flaws.

I was ok with Katara not getting flak from Sokka over the mom thing because of the circumstances, and both Sokka and Katara's respective personalities (and having two sisters that can get very mean when enraged, and me being a laid back dude to the point of apathy).

It was a lot more harder for me to sympathise with both Mako and Korra as far as their treatment of Asami in regards to the love triangle is concerned.

I'm easier to forgive Korra, because I saw what I felt was reluctance after Hiroshi betrayed Asami, and because Asami herself (with whom I related the most) was also more forgiving and understanding of Korra's actions.

Mako's actions after episode 7, on the other hand, get absolutely no sympathy from me, even if Asami could find enough fucks to give in her heart and forgive him and reach an understanding in the finale.

I don't apprecaite you dropping ATLA into the same bag as LOK.

I liked the more simpler approach in ATLA, and it still had enough drama derived from the circumstances the characters were into.

But LOK did not try to be as simple in it's approach to the romance, and as such, shouldn't have been allowed to give such a simple resolution to the issues it presented.

With all due respect can we shut the hell up regarding bitching about Korra and Mako? Do we really need to hear this in every god-damn Korra thread?

Chrissakes guys, keep it to the shipping thread.

>Remember what Pema said? Tenzin and Lin weren't meant to be. They're not soulmates. Of course they wouldn't end up together and this message is delivered with a completely straight face in the end.

Pema has been married to Tenzin for a decade and has four kids with the guy. She has every reason to consider him a soul mate at this point in their relationship. So yes, she can assign that in hindsight as well. I mean what do you think she should think at this point "Eh, I guess Tenzin's an okay guy." Seriously.

>There's never a doubt in her heart that Mako is her forevergirl from the moment that they meet.

Yes, that's why immediately after that episode aired the internet was rife with image macros that had Mako swooning for Korra and Korra swooning for Pro Bending. She was also convinced Mako was an ass, in case you forgot that bit.
I'm ready to stop bitching about Mako and Korra now, thank you very much.
So how about that Verick, eh?

If you seriously thought that Disney-as-fuck shot of them looking at each other across the bay wasn't as significant an event in the history of telegraphy as Zimmerman's was, you're giving these guys ways too much credit and outright ignoring everything they do.

Exactly. While they attempted to put roadblocks in the way of that in the first season and later in the third season with their torturous Zutara-trolling nonsense, it was an inescapable conclusion. Then they did the exact same thing with Korra and Mako except they made both of the characters total assholes who never talk to each other about anything else.

There was never any Zutara trolling except in The Ember Island Players, and that was more about just calling the Zutarans delusional.

I really can't say having some slight zutara TEASING, while using the actual episode to give development to Katara (and even build more basis for Kataang) counts as trolling.

Now please, we get it, some of you hate Bryke, and think they are awful at romace.

And some of us don't, and think they did well in ATLA.

Can we please move on to something else?

Verick, Unarok, the Spirits, antyhing not immediately related to the discussion above?

Ya know... you could just ignore discussions you don't like instead of insisting that they die (cause you can't stand them).

Best way to end a discussion is just to wait for them to die.

In any case, I don't like Zutara or Makorra, but I'd rather have Zutara than Makorra. At least, there's no canon evidence that either Katara or Zuko would be as insensitive as Mako and Korra.

Bryke amazingly actually came up with a canon ship which I loathe more than Zutara.

Unfortunately, of course, this means I cannot expect them to make Makorra even more horrible in the future books.

No, I'm with Seyker on this one: every goddamned thread on this board is about shipping or whining about season one. Go talk about it in one of those--that's what they're for. This thread is supposed to be about season two, the info we've been given and the speculations we've got. Your hateboner for Makorra is not really relevant in this thread.
>> No. 108727
>>108726
I speculate that as they did not have adequate time to gauge the response to Makorra it will devolve further into an absolutely detestable misuse of time and energy which pleases no one; not even the most insane of shippers.
>> No. 108728
>>108726

And as noted, the current shipping discussion spawned because of a stupid rumor which was thankfully debunked.

It's not that hard to talk about something else while shipping talk is taking place.

If you want a discussion about something to die, just do not contribute to the discussion about it. Complaining about other people talking about something just adds attention to it.

I'm partial to the theory that Bryke doesn't really care about Makorra.

Anyway, Azula's VA - I'm very interested in whom she's voicing. Just a spirit or something like a character with alter ago?

If it's the latter, would it be too much to hope that her character will be Bolin's potential love interest?

I do want to see how the BolinXIroh shippers would react to Bolin crushing on the character voiced by Grey DeLisle.

> Disney and love triangles

There was one in Hunchback of Notre Dame (a love square actually), but since it's based on a book - we could say that the love square wasn't Disney's idea. Also, in the book, the love polygon had six participants.

Disney also made Phoebus a lot nicer. They also made Esmeralda a lot more likable (and did not kill her off). Yeah, she died in the book. So did Quasimodo.

I think Disney's version of the Hunchback of Notre-Dame proves that they want viewers to enjoy love triangles/squares. Disney's Phoebus is shown to empathize with Quasimodo. When Esmeralda was thanking him, Phoebus made certain that Quasimodo got credit as well. And Phoebus even got to save Quasimodo, who happily acted like a best man/priest by joining Esmeralda and Phoebus' hands together.

Let's just say Disney made certain that viewers did not feel pissed at Esmeralda and Phoebus for (unintentionally) breaking Quasimodo's heart, and Quasimodo also got a very happy ending as well.

Yeah, I do think the love situation in Disney's Hunchback was handled better than the love situation in Book 1.
